Believe the RPRA have testing kits available but who pays for the test I dont know. I would like to see random tests done not only to catch the cheats but also to vindicate successful fanciers who have been the centre of witch-hunts.

Disappointingly lol The pigeon I had my money on I’m still waiting for, an 04 cock that finished 25th combine from the same race point the previous year (Thurso 507miles). My aim was to finish in the first 25 of the combine this year but fell short, I was some 45 minutes behind the combine winner. I’ll not be deterred from doing the same again this coming season. Just got to find decent tic beans at a decent price round here, corn merchant wants £13 a bag for yearling tic beans lol they’ll be 5 year old at least before he sells them. One more thing I’d like to add, even though I’ve raced pigeons for over 20 years I class myself as a novice come 500+ mile racing so to put my failure down to this feeding regime would be wrong. I’m going to stick with it and plan on joining the Essex & Kent distance 5 bird club which will give me an extra bite of the cherry at 500 mile racing.

Use the same throughout the year but at different strengths (as directed on bottle)

Have used it for the last 3 years and no plans to stop.

Micko, I use vinegar in the pigeons bathwater primarily to rid them of lice. Some people don’t like the idea thinking it will break down the oils on feathers of the pigeon but a pigeon has very little in the way of oils, what makes a pigeon silky and shine in appearance is bloom which is made up of proteins I believe.

I know one or two feds that are looking into doing the same andy, think of the savings on 4-5000 rings each year.

I believe the joining fee is £3 andy and no they dont need to be registered with the RPRA.

The question of 'confines' was asked at the London Region which was in turn put before the RPRA rules committee for clarification. It come back along with an explanation printed in the Homing World that 'confines' meant that the pigeon had to be confined in the loft. A few weeks later again printed in the Homing World we were told to disregard the new ruling............ for the time being. Working from memory so a bit sketchy but that’s the general gist of it.
