    Some Days......

Sympathise with you Mick. Maybe it's time to give the showracers a bit more earnest consideration....at least you'd get a bit of craic out of them.
  2. I know what you're saying about the cost of keeping a dog, but if you get the right one, money doesn't come into it. I have got 5 dogs, all rescued dogs really. Each has its' own personality, and they're not just dogs but part of the family. Please do consider a rescue dog if you can....you will be greatly rewarded.
  3. The reality is that a girl has been murdered.....still can't see the joke .
  4. So where's the joke in someone being murdered. Not talking about texts, just comments made on an open forum.
  5. Not the sort of comment I would expect from a Moderator !! I'm sure the girls' family will take much comfort from your words.

  7. Mmmmm......many questions and scenarios arise from your Kings' Cup win !!! I think Eamon (Shortcut Lofts) raises a very valid point as to why sell him at all ? OK security may be a problem, so maybe enquiries should be made to see if there is the possibility he could be 're-housed' somewhere else strictly on the quiet. This of course would involve a great deal of trust between you and the other fancier concerned. As Eamon says, to win the Kings Cup is what most Irish fanciers only dream of. I wonder have you taken into consideration the guy who bred the pigeon ? Would it be a possibility to 'gift' it back to him, and come to some agreement whereby he could breed you a couple of pairs of youngsters off him each year. He already has the bloodline of the cock, and so this should be concentrated on, and who knows, maybe he could breed you another one !!! OMO.
  8. Lovely morning here too, but not meant to last !!
  9. Many thanks to all those who took the time to post their sentiments on my Birthday. Was very quiet day, spending most of it with just the dogs for company. Took a few measurements of wood I'll need to convert canary room to loft.....wood should arrive tomorrow, so I can crack on with that. The inside is 90% finished, just a few perches to get together. My sincerest thanks again. Paul
  10. Sincerest congrats. and best wishes for the future to you both.

    Giving Up

Sorry to hear you are seriously considering leaving the sport. Good fanciers are difficult to come by, and the pigeon fraternity cannot afford to lose fanciers of your calibre. I totally understand your feelings & frustrations with the BOPs, so rather than severe your links altogether, maybe consider a shift in interest, and have a go at the showracers. This would keep you actively involved with pigeons, would maintain your friendships, and would also lead to future new friendships. Racing lofts are easy to refurbish to house showracers, and with aviaries attached, the BOP problem simply vanishes !!
  12. Ah right. Thanks for that Phil.
  13. Who passed away ?

  18. Best of luck mate. Onwards and upwards !!
  19. Had a quick read of it Alex. Seems to be a good read, lots of info, especially for someone taking up widowhood. Some good pics as well.
  20. I would start with a 12x6 loft...2 equal sections for old birds & young birds. If things do well, you could have another loft in the future, say, 8x6 for your youngsters, and have your bigger loft just for your old birds.
  21. Dave Allens' book - The Widowhood Year I would rate this as a good clean copy. Slight 'bump' mark at base of spine Two small indents on back Pages good and clean Open to offers. Will close offers Sat. 26th June @ 9.00pm.
