I have a feeling this will be here very soon. Sooner than later. http://www.pigeonvaccinelab.com/Pigeon_Vaccine_Lab.html

In Canada most vaccine 3 TIMES now in first 3 months tops. Starting off in the nest! Asked my mate, who usually does mine, an ex flyer, to do the same and he refrained. Said too small / young. ALL mine will be getting a booster soon as moult is over. I normally do all after the last race. Gordon Chambers wrote to me a while back stating - among other things - First sign of any trouble vac again with Parramixo. Also said spray with Parazone most days. I used to use Virkon S Plus. But now use Actichlor Plus. Trouble is each year with incest breeding the constitutions are getting less, worse. Of course homing ability is another side effect.

I feel for you mate. You know, we all have this sad experience from time to time. Had one myself not so long ago. Not often mentioned of course. Had one similar and apparently it was a heart attack. Mate had one 2nd section and 8th national. Was in such fine fettle 2 - 3 weeks later sent it with hope to Lerwick. Came back with the convoyers ... Dead in basket! autopsy showed it was canker --- Been treating with the same remedy throughout of course. I, like most don't fathom out just why - unless an autopsy is done. We look squint eyed at every other bird for some time to follow, but it is so very often the case that all are well and bouncing.

Says it's no good.

Simply put NO medicine differentiates between good, or bad, so ...
-
Agree ... I have put on my favourites for recording on to DVD later. There are very many more too ... I feel,- for the cost a couple of quiddies - that I can give such to new comers and any one that might be interested in starting up.

Junior as far as I'm concerned your dad was a great role model. Both in the sport and his word. Be proud of him and cherish the good memories. I wish you and all yours well.

Give this man a round of applause. Only a small number gave any money etc. - Shame on us. http://theloftreport.com/rick-marids-status-of-gambling-charges-and-pet/

Very true Owen. When our club brought out an article regards the Percys wait for their dinner at Portland it was ignored totally. I don't send there, but We have a list of site numbers and coordinates. Be no problem for the RPRA etc. to print a copy off and send it to any - or every club.
-
Don't see why any one is getting hot under the collar for the RPRA retort. It is plain common-sense and very helpful.

Garden Lime has a soothing anti stress property!
-
I think it's about time some put some Garden Lime in the drinkers over night and placed before the birds next day. Heard the rubbish about Ecoli etc.- Beside if the loft stays dry then that won't be a problem. It is a sauce of calming. My club and area have / had great results when done.

Del is right. Of course he is! Bilco has been advocating similar for decades now. If he had been listened to and took note and practiced what he said, then the RSPB would be clamouring, begging for the fancy to sit around a table with the governing bodies. Spoke in depth with a Irish man that kept a fancy pigeon. He quite simply stated hardly any trouble with B.O.P. as THEY ARE sorted as soon as they appear. Sound logic. Beside the protection was only for two year in the mid 50's and in reality aren't protected by that law.
-
Has been the case for many years here, 50 or more at least. But then one never knows the real outcome. So would add to the above post ALL voting to be disclosed.

Had two so far ... both this last Sunday.

If too warm, cover the roof with hessian sacks or like and put water over it. Chimneys are brill too. Other than that get a car fan from the scrape yard and connect to a battery or transformers.

Words fail me, best wishes and hopes for you abound. I will say it has been more than a pleasure the times we have conversed mate. My kindest thoughts go to you and all yours. Roly

stb says 'Roland on nearly all new property here the title deeds say no livestock birds chickens pigeons rabbits 1 dog or cat etc. so you know the score before you buy. I know that Rob, but it isn't enforceable. Was a great article on this matter in the BHW not so long back where a fancier took them on. Yes took time and a bit or worry ... finished up the rules and regulation were printed etc. OH, and he won a lot of compensation. It is like renting a house and the land lord says, no pet, smoking etc. Illegal. When you rent you have the same rights as if you owned it. Likewise when you buy a house, no outside laws can be enforce that counter act the law of the land, or now the European laws. The property belongs to you. Unless you are infringing on another's rights, they, nor any one else have a right to enforce an illegality. You know, pigeons in Trafalgar Square are fed twice every day (and more). It is illegal to stop any one feeding a wild bird. The council come out every hour and sweep it up... It's what the public are led to believe. Like 'Flying rats' and Nelson covered in 350 tons of pigeon crap every year. It isn't true. Max Bygraves knocked my sisters door in Poole, not long after she moved in. He showed her the resident and what not other agreements / by laws that were in place, including washing wasn't allowed to be put out on the lines etc. Which he stated was lawfully made agreement when the bought the property. My sister stated she like to have the wind dry and air her washing, and for him to pee off. Funnily enough my brother in law later came on. and is still on the council. He is mayor actually this year and my sister is mayoress, He often laughs at these so call myths and laws.

Trying to do a deal and say that the police have cocked up and the case to be thrown out I feel.
-
Well hope the good lady earns enough to buy herself another house lol. By the way no law etc. can stop you having pigeons. No council etc. etc regardless what they say, imply or threaten. But then with the wife sharing the houses no problem eh!

Think any youngster fed and watered, rested has earned the respect of those taking the care and time to do so. Also any person willing to help and take strays closer to home should have a thank you and pat on the back. Yes, maybe sometimes a mistake or unfortunate occurrence happens ... but to slate any one for trying and most doing their best to help can and should be forgiven. As for any bird having a 'E' ring that matters not a jot. Mine have SU, R's, P's X's and others so what. Think Henrik when you cool down, see the light of day and smell the coffee you should gracefully withdraw you posts and comments. Indeed make many more think 'If that's the treatment for trying help I get, then they can get stuffed'. And even more won't bother!
-
Same as what it is now before he speaks to them lol.
-
Well one has to make a choice ... For certain Unikon won't help a jot. Their after sales, as most now know to their horror, are none existent. Mind have seen - after a few days, where Unikon was taking a lot of flack on a pigeon site where they actually helped!
-
I think that when ever they are entered, what ever the age, they have to be fit / conditioned to do the job. This is regardless of past.

If flying around the loft no need now for any training. Do they need to race. Certainly not. They will perform every bit as good, if not better as yearlings, or ob birds. In fact no need for them ever to be trained again ... EXCEPT as a 'Human Logic' which is illogical. I am seriously thinking of sending some yearlings to Vire after no training, let alone racing this season. From Bordeaux too. The 2 year old I KNOW /Feel would do me proud. Only reason I'll decide that they won't go is that as I've let my stock birds go. I have 7 pairs of racers only consisting of yearlings and o/b's ... and that also includes a 6 and a 8 year old. The chances of a smash, this week -end and this weather may well be a poor day for racing. So needs must I guess. When one watches Athletics on the box and see the size of the track which is a 1/4 of a mile - 440 yards, and one thinks of the times they circle bigger than that, how many miles do they do? Yet man send just 6 - 10 miles daily with great results whilst other tear the motor ways up! So the reality is are you prepared to lose them, and B. WHEN will you be prepared to lose them?
