  1. Well does one really believe that it could be stopped! Out awed yes etc. etc. But stopped, of course not. Like Pedigrees etc. birds are only as reliable as the seller / distrubitor is honest!

    Royal Jelly?

Royal jelly is a ‘Bee’ secretion that aids in the development of immature or young bees. It is secreted from the heads of young workers and used (amongst other substances) to feed the young until they develop to the desired rank. If a queen is desired, the hatchling will receive only royal jelly as its food source, in order that she will become sexually mature and have the fully developed ovaries needed to lay more eggs for the hive. Anything to do with Bees, and their waste products even are good… But, careful, use only in moderation. Like their ‘protein’ in moderation, too much and toxin poison is a reality no one wants.
  5. Blessed Thistle ... Cnicus benedictus - L. Physical Characteristics It is hardy to zone 8. It is in flower from May to September, and the seeds ripen from July to October. The flowers are hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and are pollinated by Insects. The plant prefers light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and requires well-drained soil. The plant prefers acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It cannot grow in the shade. It requires dry or moist soil. Edible Uses: Edible Parts: Flowers; Leaves; Root. Edible Uses: Condiment. Young leaves - raw[4, 268]. Flower heads, harvested before the flowers open, have been used as a globe artichoke (Cynara cardunculus) substitute[268]. The flower heads are rather small and using them in this way is very fiddly[K]. Root - boiled as a pot herb[268]. The herb is used as a flavouring[105, 183] (the part that is used is not specified). Medicinal Uses Astringent; Bitter; Cholagogue; Contraceptive; Diaphoretic; Diuretic; Emetic; Emmenagogue; Galactogogue; Homeopathy; Stimulant; Stomachic; Tonic; VD. The blessed thistle was widely cultivated in the middle ages, when it was seen as a cure-all for all manner of diseases including the plague[238]. Although less widely used nowadays, it is still seen to have a wide range of applications though it is mainly employed as an ingredient in herbal tonics[268]. The whole plant is astringent, bitter, cholagogue, diaphoretic, diuretic, strongly emetic in large doses, emmenagogue, galactogogue, stimulant, stomachic and tonic[4, 7, 9, 21, 165, 207, 222, 268]. A warm infusion of the plant is said to be one of the most effective means of improving the milk supply of a nursing mother[4]. An infusion of the whole plant has also been used as a contraceptive[213] and is often used in the treatment of liver and gall bladder problems[9]. The plant is also used internally in the treatment of anorexia, poor appetite associated with depression, dyspepsia, flatulent colic etc[238]. The whole plant was infused overnight in cold water and the liquid drunk three times daily in the treatment of VD. Men were required to run after each dose in order to encourage sweating. The treatment often caused nausea and vomiting[213] - excessive doses of the plant cause vomiting[7]. The plant is used externally in the treatment of wounds and ulcers[238]. The plant is harvested in the summer as it comes into flower and is dried for later use[4]. A homeopathic remedy is made from the plant[9]. It is used in the treatment of the liver and gall bladder[9].

  7. Lol,
  8. Yep, I like Hemp flooring, but have to go to Grantham nigh toget it. Straw is 'Tubes' that much can hide in and often not good stuff, so I perfer solid... like tobbacca stalks for the nest box, I cut them ito 4 inch lengths, and they seem to get on well nest building with it. Haven't used deep litter for 18 months now though. Clean out the grills and paper under every day and wash the grills weekly. Like lime rubbed in... or white. But the best is bee's wax. Can sweep out the droppings, and even mopp it out if you are a mind too. I just rub it into the wood and that's it. Have warmed it up as I#ve done it in early days, but it seemed to need a lot more as it didn't cover so well in my oppinion.
  9. Never in doubt Frank. I will admit though that when I write of the cuff I do tend to come over a bit strong, and over emphasise too. - When I set mye stool out and take time, and use a bit of forethought I ain't too bad. Worse when I rabbit off after a touch of the ole amber nectar lol. One only has to look at the 'Topics' and the Views total. Obviously mine are normally way down on others, so I can't come over well lol. Still don't care much really lol.
  10. May I also state Frank - as I have many times on here and everywhere else, I am a fervant believer in free speech, and if I didn't agree with any Post which I didn't agree with personally I'd still defend the right of that poster to voice their oppinion(s). I know many gave their lives believing that 'Free Speech' and the right to voice it was a right. So I am dang sure I'd never eneter a party to try that. Peace go with you Frank. And my namr has only one 'L' in roland, have graded yet to be honoured with two lol.
  11. Frank if you re - read my posts I am sayin nothing of the sort. Maybe that it caused a twinge, I know not, but that is not my intention. I am saing that for a long time now, and like Bruno says it is too late now. I tried several parties etc. when the Canadian had their hiccup. That fell on deaf ears. Likewise I am saying simplely that 'Decisions' have all ready been taken and that will be finalise in concret shortly ... then whatever they have decided will be worse if another out break hits us, or any route our pigeons may fly, and any lobbying or spouting up now is long gone past the relevant time.. Simply that! No more, and no less. Further, I am not seeking any confrontation, and if I was I certainly wouldn't be asking ANYBODY to side with me. I am more than capable, willing, and big enoyugh and ugly enough to hold my own. So may I suggest you untangle your knickers and rerad my posts and take in what is Actually said!
  12. I know how they feel lol.
  13. Bruno as you are aware I get a Email or two from Gordon most days. Was in Canada when it hit the fans etc. They actually put a hold on the Goverment as to further delving... same as now, it is a qua. Likewise the Import Export situation. But Bruno things here HAPPENED. Gordon and a few others were in touch with some, and others like Allbear, and a few other I gave them email addies toactually get the parts they presented there! But here it was asked by some, for others to get behind the wheel. This was, and is a completely different aspect from what the Canadians did... and every other week here some one was posting like FrankDooman did etc. the point I was making that it is far too late now for that! That when it was possibly a hep facter hardly ANYONE did, and yet many others spouted what ohers should be doing or should have done. The fact I state is that 'Not many even bothered to type an Email! etc. etc. EVEN THOSE THAT suggested others too. A good MP said he would help in any way and which, still no one bothered. Was silly talk about challenging in the courts etc. Far too expensive and pie in the sky. But MP's etc. are always ready to jump on a wagon to service their own ends, they need to be in the loight and to be seen doin some one somewhere some good. Frankly in this scenario I think Peter has done an excellent job. And like I posted I know several that he has been in touch with and every help that way was forthcoming. etc. etc.
  14. Lol.... Vic hotch over mucker, seems you will be having company lol.
  15. Ronnie, Ronnie behave! lol... you're be getting a tirrant of slander and abuse down the shuttle aimed at you lol so be careful. One mustn't actually voice such oppinions, regard who may think as such, whether true or not lol. You will be accused of being jealous and a poor flyer that just wants to magline decent flyers that are better than you ... or supposedly lol. The circle is well kept and all act as a swarm of bees when you poke at the hive lol.
  16. So why are we not surprised! Gary has never given Evans much credit, if any! ... The most was that ONE pigeon was 25 Van and 75% Scgootan or however it's spelt. That pigeon has two now, as it was first bird BICC last season. Yet from what I understand M. Evans takes credit for his birds as Vander etc. being likely his biggest claim. of those that excel 'National' level. Never seen advertised any actual persons that fly his birds that have won Nationals... Evans did do well with a Bird in 1997 before they packed up flying obviously. So one or two are of his own merit and flying and that has to be applauded regardless whether we ever seen another 'Name' that will state it was his bloodlines that did the honours.

    who is the best

China use to take the Biscuit for the distance birds ... remember Frankie George sending and receiving from there in the 50's. Seems that the basic fundmental of the chinese love of Gambling took it's toll though as there - like here of course - there was no money on the Distance races, so sprint to middle distance is mostly the order of the day. Likewsie the set up in Taiwan... some fanciers them.
  18. Yes I was also following Allbears lead. I was in contact with 8 MP's and around 10 Euro MP's. Don't you know what, - and regardless how Allbear, Me and a few others asked, and urged others to do the same - they biggest thing that came back was 'No one Else in their constituency had bothered to even send an Email, letter or any correspondence at all'! They theme to me was that yes... but I was outside of their constituency'. Further we had an ex Fancier who is a Euro MP offering to take up our cause.... Result Zilch, no one but I contacted him. He was very disappointed.... but no MP Euro or otherwise is going to bother a jot about us if we can't even get of a fat a**e and even write / post a leter! Just look at all the MP's and concern that can't do a jot, or matter a jiff that stand up and climb on the 'Band Wagon' Publicity, and Public awareness are the only two things they, and any one else is interested. They as sure as hell aren't going out of their way to be counted when we aren't even bothered. A losing battle, with no merit is far far away from theirs' or anyone else's interests.
  19. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070129/wl_asia_afp/healthflutaiwan_070129184741 Taiwan eyes mass production of bird flu vaccines in 2008 Mon Jan 29, 3:40 PM ET TAIPEI (AFP) - A Taiwanese research team said it had produced a bird flu vaccine that had passed initial animal tests. "The vaccine against the H5N1 strain has passed tests on mice," said Pele Chuang, the head of a 25-member team at the National Health Research Institute. The H5N1 bird flu strain is potentially deadly to humans. The vaccine, using cell culture technology, needs validation by the health ministry before human tests are undertaken. They are due to be completed before the end of June next year. If all goes to plan, mass production of the vaccines -- running up to a million doses a year -- would begin late 2008, Chuang said. "This is a milestone considering when we started last year, we started from scratch, and now we have developed the capability to produce vaccines," he said. The research project has cost the government some 40 million Taiwan dollars (1.22 million US). Institute officials said the ability to produce indigenous vaccines could be crucial in the event of an outbreak. Bird flu has killed more than 160 people worldwide since late 2003 and there are fears it could mutate and trigger a deadly human flu pandemic. A less virulent H7N3 strain was twice detected in samples of bird droppings in Taiwan in 2005 and again in January 2006. In 2003, Taiwan slaughtered 467,000 birds, mostly chickens, after the H5N2 strain was discovered on chicken farms on the offshore island of Kinmen.

Commuter gurads Premature Explosion Two chefs at a takeway were arrested for setting fire to the restaurant. The owner who fled the country told them to do it they said. Jam Sandwiches Craig Flatman an 11 year who developed a phobia about food refused to eat anything but Jam sandwiches for the last three years , has now been cured. He had no fillings . Doctors now think that protein maynot be si essential in diet . More details in the Times of Feb 19 97 Not charged Police in Melbourne decided not to charge a man who ran naked in a street. he had been in a mortuary and had just been pronounced dead by the doctor. Too keen Unemployed unqualifed 34 year old Mervyn Lloyd attended many medical conferences claiming he was a specialist in neurochemistry and blood disorders and was accepted as such. A few sharp eyed medical students however noticed that he always had a stethoscope around his neck in lectures and he was caught and put on probation for two years for impersonating a doctor. Dope at the Pharmacist One of the states in Germany will on a trial basis allow cannabis to be bought at pharmacy shops . The idea is to eliminate the profit margin and drive the drug dealers out of business. However if dope becomes popular the govt could lose big revenues from tobacco taxes. Beggar wins damages A beggar who was arrested for shouting in a Library and detained overnight in a police station was awarded damages. The judge agreed that his civil rights had been violated - nobody is quite sure how- and awarded him the sum of 2 dollars (one pound). Corner Shops in trouble Many corner grocery shops owned by first generation Asians are in deep financial trouble. The supermarkets can sell to the public goods cheaper than the shopkeeper can buy wholesale . Council tax increases have also cut into profits. Second generation Asians are increasingly going into the professions. Britons work the hardest 30% of British workers work more than 48 hours a week compared to 9% for the next highest the Irish , in the EEC of 12 countries. They are also the second lowest paid. The govt however feels this is not enough to compete with low paid workers in the far east and has adamantly opposed a maximum of 48 hours a week ( unless the employee volunteers to work more) and a minimum of three weeks holiday a year. It has had to give way since the legislation was imposed by the EEC as a safety measure - albeit exempting the transport workers , doctors , police ..... Britain also is the only country without a minimum wage and workers are laid off in some fast food places during the quiet hours and rehired when somebody walks into the door. Rap artists imprisoned In France North African Rap artists singing 'Kill all the cops' have been imprisoned for three months for incitement to murder. Left wing parties have protested at this attack on freedom of expression Mini Skirts OK for lawyers A female lawyer who came to interview a prisoner in prison wearing see through clothes and very short mini skirt won her right in the Italian Supreme Court to dress as she pleases . Militant Sikh leader released Mr Chahal was released after six years detention in prison on orders of the EEC Court of Human Rights as no charges had been laid against him on terrorism charges. The British givt has refused compensation. Prisoners get lot of time off Those who commit serious crime and are remanded in prsion awaiting trial have come out much better than those out on bail. If they are sentenced to say 10 years - one year for each crime , and get time off one year for good behaviour , then this one year is deducted from each year. So the prisoner can be released immediately on being sentenced if he has been remanded for one year. Not only that but since some have been kept a bit longer they are entitled to £100 compensation for each night extra. One who had impersonated a doctor and had numerous other convictions may receive £70,000 for having spent 2 years of a six year sentence. Anatomy lessons came in useful A wife fed up with her husband forcing her to go jogging to lose weight , brushed up in the library to learn where the heart was located. She then stabbed him , avoiding the heart as she didnt want to kill him ! The man extremely grateful to be alive has decided not to press charges and is reconciled. They were found in a pool of blood at home. BSE in Milk Dr Narang has warned that mad cow disease can be spread via milk from infected cows. Britain the longest working nation . At 43 hrs per week ( even more if part timers are excluded ) the British people have become the longest working and almost the lowest paid in Europe. Now the govt is fighting European law which mandates that from 1999 all workers should have a max 48 hrs a week (except transport workers , doctors , managers ...) and 4 weeks holidays a year. There is a lot of evidence that the longer the working week , the more inefficient the method of working and the lower the wages. Patient sues doctors for making him better ! Cyril Smith a patient has been granted legal aid ( from the govt) to sue his doctors for making him better ! Three years ago he was diagnosed as having advanced cancer and told he would have only three months to live . He is now suing them for compensation saying that their wrong prognosis has cost him a lot of money. Night in prison nets £100,000 ($150,000) . A jury has awarded the above sum to a woman who was arrested on the complaints of her neighbours for making loud noises in her house. The police did not give her time to change her nightdress and kept her in prison overnight. She sued for wrongful arrest and racial abuse. Soon the police will be too scared to arrest anybody . The above sum needs to be compared to the £5000 for loss of an eye in criminal damage to victims. Cardiac Arrest This is a cult hit medical series which is very politically incorrect to say the least ! , but very true to life. All the doctors below consultant level are overworked and always breaking down under the stress . The nurses make sure they give them even more , much of what they should be doing themselves. Nobody who is being resucitated ever makes it ! . The managers are always trying to conspire against the conscientious doctors and force them out because they oppose their never ending cost cutting . The Asian doctor is always trying to bed any pretty nurse or patient ....and so on . It is probably too controversial ever to be shown in America .. 22. Very True Allbear, whatever has been decided now, is going to be, with the exception if a more drastic stand has to be taken, say in light of further out breaks. It would have to be some machinary to get anything altered, and then time will be dragged out for Yonks.

    THE LAW AND CATS

http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/scotland/family_parent/housing_scotland/11152540_cruelty_to_animals.htm Animals causing a nuisance What you can do when you know who the owner is How you deal with an animal causing a nuisance will depend on the type of problem caused by the animal and who owns the animal. If you know the owners it is usually worth contacting them to try to resolve the problem. If the problems continue you can apply to the district court for an order that will instruct the owner of the animal to stop it from annoying you. If the animal has caused significant damage you can claim compensation from the owner at the same time as applying for the order. You should discuss this option with a solicitor. Prize Money

Well I doubt if there is any reality in that at all. Of course some make a living... and good luck to them. But the fact remains that several more do actually make money, beside the feather merchants etc.
  25. I was replying to a post when I got carried away, and then realised that I was of the thread, so decided to start a new thread. Never mind if no one agrees, or bothers to reply, as most obviously see things differently. Which again, mostly, in itself is normally good for any concern? Vic replied to a post as such in regards 'Prize Money My sentiments exactly. I'd go further and say that they actually mould the future to their own thoughts and desires. Again sadly and not mostly for the betterment of the sport! That Thatcherism scenario of asking, offering thoughts and question where the answer has to be 'Yes of Course'! And alas alack the implications and reality is so often missed and yet voted for. Yes I race for the 'Buzz, the being around the birds every day. Xmas day wouldn't be the same without seeing them pick around the garden. Always something new to watch or see. And of course the dreams and new hopes, setting new agendas - obviously never kept lol - . And when the majority of fanciers are refreshed with new hope and desires (regardless of the futileness of them) this is where the irons strikes when hot, and voted, altered at the AGM... quickly forgotten, but sorely seen to see the detrimental so often that the new rules, striving brings. Change is good ... id for the betterment of the Sport as a Whole, no two ways about that... if only the hidden agenda, the selfishness, one upmanship was the nucleus of the real reason. So we have to abide and go with the flow if we wish to partake, or speak up and demonstrate to all so often no avail, and be classed as a stirrer. But I don’t mind that, just means many stay shy of expressing their true feeling, which indeed they often may agree with later in retrospect. That’s life I suppose!
