  1. One club £35 for the South road club, and birdage has gone upto 50p. The North Rd club is free membership, but we have now put the birdage upto 50p - that includes the Fed Fees of course. The other North Rd club is £35 and 50p birdage.

    FRANK TASKER

Yep would like to say well done Frank and all.... and thanks for promoting the GB!
  3. In reply of 'How can a Owl sound be effective when the Hawks have probably never heard it' etc. Well simply Instintive. How do birds fly home from where they have never been before... How do butterflies migrate 100's of miles... The Shank when moved to Boston finds wales etc. etc. etc. I think a dear would probably stay away from a lion it' never heard r seen before... One ofyen hears about Cats ad the pigeons know to stay away from ... Indeed they take some time to land and enter after seeeeing a cat on the top.
  4. Cd are great to deter Magpies and it's families... when the sun is out of course. Didn't make a scrape of difference regards hawks for me though.
  5. Cocci is normally down to a laspe in management ... the other two aren't a neccessary to deal with... have birds in my loft where the person I had them off has never treated for either ... and I seldom do ... just when from time to time I listen and am persuade to... Don't know why really either. So yes there do and are immuned then!

    pigeon blanket

He's from Canada... problably it's a snow blanket lol.
  7. Where the Race Point gonna be and what distance, North or South etc. Personally I believe that it would be hard to do.
  8. I believe that Tammy can now send you via E,ail the Zip for the Eagle Owl. Down load it and thenplace it on a CD.
  9. Fly aways eh! I believe that that is just an unexplain phenolemon that happens from time to time. The nearest belief I have in this regard is that for breeding purposes nature lends a han. Lion etc. take over a pride... cull the young and bring the al important fresh blood in that is needed. The Mubuna fish, the Males stay and the females move on and are courted and spawned with fresh blood. Nature doesn't allow for any close mating. We do, and that I believe is thge single most reason for 'Poor homing' etc. Yes ok the first may throw... but to do that proper is to saturate a certain blood / relation and then bring in the out crosses. Too many don't understand that. And a pigeon, like any thing else can't improve on the fundemental basic. Only deteriate. Hence the need for out crossing.
  10. Maybe Bruno, but I doubt it as I have never ever seen a colony of pigeons that didn't attract and expand. Only ever got bigger till culled or removed.
  11. I believe anyway kept... just trained 200 miles in anyway which every day. I believe this is how I will do it this coming season. After they have finished ranging and are happy roof topping and picking in the garden, I start them of on 20 mile chuckes each day... 1/2 ounce feed in and the 1 ounce at night.

    straw

Also great for any thing that climbs inside as it is hollow.
  13. Eletric fence... 12 volt battery, but most can also work directly off a Battery Charger. One been... don't bother again.
  14. So all, we have a wire cage 3foot 6inches wide, by 6 foot long and 8 foot high. Then adjoining it we have some boxes 12 inches deep for the birds to sit in enclosed, which is adjacent to another foot square of wire. My 16 birds are Happy… why the wired frame, just so we have control of them. Like wise we also have replicates 10 foot high and 24 foot long! Then we have 50 Rabbit hutches like nest boxes that are 2foot long where one half is just wire mesh, whilst the other is just a box to shelter the birds from the elements… So how high and long can we stack these? Now Sammy and co… just where does the problem lie? Air circulation is paramount. The parimeter is no mor than to contain the birds for easy managerment! As you say Pigeon Scout ... then by the same token as Natural are beat W/Hrs' even on the sprints and especially from 300 miles upward I'd tend to take natural as the better proposition. But this isn't really the site topic here so We'll have to make another thread I guess lol.
  15. Sammy Wrote and that is why feral pigeons carry every known disease and they dont have to fly home at top speeds maybe if there was not as many ferals about then we would not have as much problems with hawks and or pigeons would not be reffered to as rats with wings ,however its your choice how many pigeons YOU keep in a small confined space Ferals eh! If one young one ever comes into your Loft Sammy, let it in! Make your Water yella and stella, then send it up the road with your y/ b's, yours will always be behind! Hawks have a job catching street wise pigeons. Flying rats by Livingstone had nothing to do with ferals etc. Just a slant to clear Trafalger out. Mind he has always been very anti pigeons. The best anti dope for any bird is - like a jab - is to catch a dose.(That is innoculations work) Many flyers encourage y/b's to get infected and the sooner the better. Sooner mended and raced. And the NUMBERS in any vacinity has nothing to do with Numbers, but how cleanse your loft and feeding and water habits are! Water is a main carrier... so oe places after feed and gri and removes. Birds have to be content, that is why generally speaking a Natural contented bird beats Widowerhood etc. on hard and distance races. Especially the hens. Birds have to be cont and happy and feeling safe or you will never break one in. Birds love and feel safe in numbers! Still every one to their own.
  16. Mind in Canada as a matter of unterest, the law is 1 bird to a Cubic Foot. Now first impressions seem to be golly thats a lot of room ... Hence an 8ft x 7ft x 7ft high means a lot of birds can be legally house in a loft 8ft x 7ft and 7ft high. That is 54 birds! IN a 8 x 7 loft. and so it should be.
  17. No such thing as 'Over Crowding' just a lame excuse for poor management. Provided there is Air 'CIRCULATION' and room to perch, pigeons are happiest just pecking distance away from each other. Also helps a natural 'Pecking Order' that can well be of an great asset to the observant fancier. Never ever seen Feral, or Churches or Street pigeon looking for room, indeed they clambour to be as near to each other as they can. It is their nature and a healthy way of life. If only fanciers stop thinking of them as humans and were practical and observant. I have room for 16 pairs in a 5ft x 4' 6'' and great air flow. Birds are always a picture of health. Likewise the y/b's 9 inches apart is too much for them to be natural.

    droppers

Personally If I was the young man I'd forget about 'Droppers' theory or thoughts on Eye Sign. length of tails etc. and just get a couple of years under my belt first. Clean dry loft, same as feed, and fresh water in washed out ultensiles are the first neccates I believe. Too much folder will lay him back a spell. M. B http://www.comanco-web.com/discuspro/ Click on there and become a member same as on here. This is Canadian Based and probably the best site on the net. The 'Archives' are brimful with realistic and great help on every matter that can, will or might raise it's head. Good luck, and stay here too, some plonkers here like lol... and some real gems of pigeon folks.

    droppers

MBpigeonguy A dropper is normally a Poulter. It will see your bird arriving way before you do... ad it's up and away, and drives your bird through the Trap. Hen or Cock bird... Beware if your racing a randy hen lol. They live in the loft with the birds. Isaw them in action with Bil Butterfield ear Toronto 2 year back and was very imressed. Dave Rogers too... But mant there didn't like them as they worked them wrong apparently. Would forward Bills Email if your interested.
  21. likewise nigh and every where else.
  22. What if you A. bought Eggs over and wanted to put Dutch rings on the youngsters when hatched? What if you have 6 stock birds direct and are purely for breeding and selling on! I know Bernard Manning once said that because a dog has it's pups in a stable, it doesn't mean they are horses. Personally I believe it is only Fraudelent id a buyer is peposelt led to belief something that isn't true. Like I say, any bird, like a pedigree is only as good as the deller is honest.
  23. Yeah ... be a bit worry crossing it with a Duck or sommat ... but a pigeon to another pigeon is just 'Pigeons' regardless what loft they are in or come from.
  24. Was in Canada where 400 miles back to back are flown each year, and the birds fly them both, afte 300 - 350 milers. Jacksons Yearlings did the 1000 miles and I have flown and timed in well 460 miles with the y/b's. Yes too many molly cuddle... they breed 100 + to lose most and are worried to go abve 160 - 200 in case they lose some.... Mind Boggles.
  25. January 23rd, and driving along when I had to look twice…. Yes the rooks are repairing nests and building new ones, and nigh ready to lay… and gone as high as possible… Surely these augers well for a very dry and hot summer! December and still a few leaves on the tree…. 28th of January and the trees branches over hanging my loft are in BUD! Yes in bud already!
