On a real sombre note, does any one thing that all the 'Negatives' slanting the DAFRA is doing our sport any good at all! Further, the silliness of drawing from 'Between the Lines' and embroidering falsehoods, really puts our fancy in a good light, let alone one of decent folks just wanting to enjoy their sport! When DAFRA, and the likes, actually read these senile quotations, and innuendos, which there is a great possibility, when they have their attention drawn to them. I WONDER JUST WHAT THEY THINK. They possible just chuckle at us and thinks, 'Silly little sausages' at best. But as an organisation we need their’ help and support, and above all their PERMISSION to fly a bird ANYWHERE! Thus I think that with a bias, a norm of human nature, things can or could well be prolonged. And that’s at best! Some have a funny response when their 'Noses' are put out, especially needlessly! I'm not say for a moment that that is, or will be the case, but we certainly aren't doing our cause any good whatsoever by blatantly trying to demean them and called them liars, incompetent and useless. After all we -LIKE them - are only wise AFTER the fact! And then they have to be accounted for more than just us, indeed the whole of the UK, then time to give over I feel and only spout sensible, helpful, realism! JMO

NO THEY ARE NOT! Ad far from it... they say they very much doubt that that will happen, BUT OF COURSE are OBVIOUSLY monitoring the situation. Golly talk about from 'One line you can draw a universe'!

Warmest regards to her, and you Jimmy.

Was at a Moot where 5 top fanciers said that rather than seperate the birds they encouraged the over to peck up the others vomit etc. The sooner got the sooner mended! And been known for them to race wll within the week ...

Must be ... Peter is reputedly good looking lol

27th of January... 30th of January... birds would have already been here... left before the 25th January. (21st I think...)

And Dave I agree, and love healthy, and even heated debates. Also know you, and most others, seldom if ever mean anything untoward. And I like most can debate other topics without malice if ever I've been put in my place lol. I thnk the principle is 'Fine to disagree, but not to be disagreeable'. lol.

Yes definately wanna have them here checking every day Vic lol.

' theres an old clock bought by one of the contestants on the show ... this one etc.

Dave wrote ... but if it is proven that it has entered the country in the manner that has been suggested - you cant exactly call them strategists can you?. Dave with due respect, how could DAFRA, or any one else know, anything at ALL untill someone, somewhere reports the illness. TO presume that they, or anyone else can foretell, forecast that so and such will have a Out break of Avian Flu ANY where is sure foolhardy to say the least. Or be like the weather forecasters and perm any six combinations from 20 odd different 'could be / maybe's. Are we suggesting here yjat just outside of Kilmanock on March the 4th there will be, in a little remote village an Duck found with the virus!!! Surely not, and to say so is ludicriss. Dafra, like any one else can only go and then take action when there is something amiss. Then they are prompt and on the scene big time. Then they have to wiegh up the pro's and cons. They don't and aren't bless with our foresight then ... but we can spout what and how we like when being wise after the facts. Yet to aim and point fingers saying they should know and take action Before any event is ... mind boggling. Even tests take time, and the most they can do in any a event id clamp down and close all and any operations and seal of the area till test results are known and then concrete action is able to be taken. I personally don't believe for a moment that DAFRA knew Hungry, or any one else knew there was to be an out break till after there was! Sorry.

Would also buy some air - vents, or Iron holed for air circulation. Air doesn't work by going in, say the Bottom, and going out from the top opposite side. It needs to go in and hit the other side, then be dragged out and up through the middle. Good Idea I believe is to let some smoke in and see the where and hows.
-
But why, if at the time there was no out break. He, nor DAFRA have crystal balls, and he was doing what he has done for years. And DAFRA, nor the Hungarians new they was an eminent out break. The timing was a 'B**s**d I guess. Crap happens, but the good thing is, if true, that the blame won't be laid at the 'Mirgratory Birds'!

What show! Where , when etc. Seems invincible you are also very tight on giving anything away... no wonder the uneducated fool doesn't no much if all are like you ! lol Like getting blood out of a stne lol ... Mind being Welsh that is quite understandable being a country tight by nature. At least the Scots spend money on beer and food, and have a great parties, and even buy a round! lol
-
No! Tthey are certainly not idiots. Obviously they are all well educated in their fields, and often know a lot more, and definately a lot sooner than we ever will. First off they have to decide what is relevant, what they need to hold back, what and more importantly how much if anything the Media need to know. And personally I can't see how Bernard Matthews, -If he is in part responcible - can be blamed for trading as he has done for countless years, all to the good of many.

I know what you mean ... but Every top flyer is local to where they fly from lol....

No Bruno they do have it aswell sadly. I've never had it... feel a mite of garden lime left in the bottom of the drinker works wonder... and I have heard all the anti and why It can't or shouldn't. Most in our club did... and y/b sicknes never raised it's head till last season or two ... and they were not of the ole school, so... Other than than I will have some of Bilco's X's special on hand.

Yes I heard tell, and read a bit like. I totally agree that birds from one terrain take a while to adapt. Also weathers etc. hardiness, and good constitions can only from good birds with good constitutions. Often remember the article regards Jim Biss.... Only ever took note of the birds constitution in regards breeding... and then goes on how he mated so and such with and crossed etc. Likewise the age old adage... Buy the best avalable in your OWN area of flying.

Mould yes ... but with Peanuts Vic, as you very well know, very few are wanted or needed. I'd say toxin poison if too many allowed to be eatan. Just two or three on RETURN of race and the next day they are back to good condition. I believe one can't over fill any cup ... the wastes is just that etc. but too many peanuts may mean that the system was given too much protein which they can't handle. More thoughts any way.

Personaly I believe as far as any. Jackson and a few others sent the 1000 miles with great results. Many 70 - 100 years ago went and returned, to do the same again many times. Y/b farthest for me was 460 miles. Now on the North won't allow yearlings to lerwicke, which is, I feel, a great pity. 400 odd miles BACK to back FOR MOST YOUNG BIRDS in Canada, after all the others leading up to it. And returns are good. Do we molly cuddle too much! Makes a mockery of all thoses that breed 50 - 100 or more y/b's - mainly to lose, which they do! BUT are scare to send them over 200 miles, yes even 150 miles, That, to me, is the sad joke.

The Aristocracy rule the roost. Me the fighter. Have a 11 year old still rules the roost... best birds ever had till last year, now a hen pips him for that honour, - small as it may be lol.

Took a dustbin lid, and some bin liners sledging, great fun, and snowballing all the kids as they have the day off. Last time I used a 'Bin Liner was on ice down a slope in the park, Nissed as a pewt and 2 in the morning... great! But get the odd scaf lol.

Well done al, and ick good to seethe likes of you helping out ... you are oe of the few... Yes many do and have granted.... but that is still a small % in regards how many of us there are. Well done.

And me... I am the worlds worst for jumping to conclusions, and finding out I'm making 2 =2 making 5. Just this past week - end I heard a bit of this and that. From some regular guys. Never read up, let alone checked any fact... So I repeat in a contec=xt ... and get a rollicking, which I may well deserve for not checking out facts, or truthfulness of what I spouted. Wasn't to be honest bothered one way or the other... But spouted what may be an untruth... or a part truth. Now I have the gut ache and a feeling of helplessnes that I opened my big mouth and spouted in what all reality hade nowt to do with me. Oh for a bid zipper!

Bruno wrote ... To be fair, I think the previous posts have all been about the need for informed opinion based on facts, rather than opinion based on rumour and speculation. Well I don't honestly believe that MOST are happy with the plain facts. Many - perhaps to many of us - look for 'Between the lines, and then many state a 'What Might have been', or a 'Could it really mean ...' That is the negative side I believe, one that promotes more harm the Definately good. I also believe some do it not only to gain attension, but because it mae them feel important ... Legends in their own mind.
