  1. Tie their feet together allowing just 2 inches of slack.
  2. I believe that many, rightly or wrong, but I tend to agree with, often send a stray up the road after being kept overnight in spare room etc. this of course if they seem not the worse after a light feed and watered. Yes have phone the owner and kept a few days as agreed, and took them some / part way towards their loft. Most get home. Believe that a different lib often rekindles and jolts their instinc whatever it is and they home as they are suppose too. As for Ron123 I think he should repost them to their owners. Say they he thinks they may have been amongst his when they had their last toss. - Mind if he takes them 20 miles up the road the other way, most likely they'll home and then have to face the music... Yep Ron123, whatever, just report them. if they come back again after, report them again .... most likely you will transfer them and lose them ... especially as they may well go back home lol. Nothing stranger than pigeons and Folks, and many pigeons - if allowed have two lofts.

Of course, several have. Natrix for example won at 50 miles and Massieles for Jim Biss and he'd finish the season off with another 50 mile win. Like many of his and others birds have and do.
  4. It is litually a 'Rule of the Thumb' to tell what distance you can expect from them. Held in the hands with head towards you of course, then draw the line. A flipping nigh certainty that.

    Cuprinol

Just have to make sure it is dry before returning the birds of course.
  6. carries the extra oxygen around. Boosted perormances, and was untracable at one time. Now syringe marks are looked for on the pigeon etc. by antone having a reason or cause to... like wanting to buy.
  7. Called 'Blood packing'. The, do like with the horses, syringe some out and keep in cool in the fridge like, then after the spleens have made up the amount that has been taken out, they inject back the blood that they've took out. Gives the Horse / creature / pigeon more blood, hence more oxygen, etc. etc.
  8. Went to see me doctor this morning. No not the mental one the physical one lol. Any ways as most times I ask if what is prescribe can relate to a pigeon if I so choose to feed as such lol. Got onto the Oxygen debate and reiterated much what everyone knows. That even oxidising waters can’t getting to the blood system – or course not else it would kill as it would blot / clot etc. So I said yes iron etc. etc. stinging nettles etc, and Red Cell - which they give to horses etc. when he knocked me down in flames. Most problems are dealt with via Tablets and such, and it would be very silly and harmful to increase the oxygen. Indeed 20% is more than ample. That in most cases, heart especially etc. and most things they first thing that is done is to remove any excess oxygen. Too many people have to much oxygen in their system for instance! Further it is a cause of concern, so best not to try and increase the oxygen. Had told him about my grandson on a oxygen tank etc. and that a Medical scientist had thought that a minute or so - like some able are doing – would bring on great form. Not so, in the right circumstance it would of course bring on better health etc, which is why it is used. But once the blood has enough, that’s good, any more is bad. Makes one think it is good we can do just as we want with good intentions, and to steal a march eh! Possibly, or perhaps that why many of us never get up from the bottom of the ladder! Lol

Well some advocated, and it became popular even with making slings / hamocks to weight their' birds. Now in August 2005 a Belgium fancier(s) - and including a world renowned stud, published the statistic of most National winners. Very quickly it became apparent that all birds at whatever distance came in all wieght shapes and sizes. I will have to ask about and find out whether it is available over here yet and in English.
  10. Put me down for two as well :P ;D ;D ;D
  11. I, like most here, feel for Pete and his loss. I will start a 'Donation' fund of with £25. If others so wished to with donations of say £5 - £10 upwards I feel Pete and the little Chappie could quickly replace a few of the stock birds. Also would lighten the loss a mite. Obviously it helps, though not eradicate the hurt and disappointments. Yes others may feel a 'Auction' and yet stick other may wish to present a pair of stock birds. I have very few birds at the moment, as most will know. I will also need my youngsters to build upon and see what I actually have in 2 years down the line . So some may just want to breed Pete and the little one some youngsters. But this and an ‘Auction’ puts around £30 on a bill for couriering. What do others wish to door suggest..

Ole Yellow says good debate , but each bird / strain will be different , and weight can be fat or muscle , feeding controls weight and exercise creates muscle it's getting the ballance right you cant put fitness on a unhealthy bird Now that is the simple truth.

Due to size and build of course. But a pigeon can only be fit at a certain weight that tally's with it's mental fitness. Either one out and it won't be 100%. They have, like all athletes, a Fighting weight which only arrives when the Mental fitness comes. So both are needed.
  14. As a member of the RPRA, or whatever governing body, a CLUB has to take them and put them through and send them etc. Yes they can charge the same as a club member, no more! That doesn't mean that they have to let you into their club, or indoor premises. If it is a public place, then again thay have no jurstiction so you can go in. Yes you are allow to be present at the marking. Yes and are entitled to a velocity... But then again, might be best just to do your own. Soon ges back to them what time yours were doing lol.
  15. Fifer how do fanciers just fly the nationals then? A fancier has to be member of the governing body. Of course they do to enable them to fly in ANY race, which ALL have to be legalised by the Governing body. Don't have to be a Club, or fed member. And as such ALL clubs are beholdened to TAKE any members of the governing body to a race point providing they pay the amount that a CLUB member would. Indeed Fifer, you know many as such as we all do who just fly the 'Nationals' and aren't a memeber of any club etc. Further HOW many do you, or anyone else knows, that have just taken the birds along to a club to be sent. Know three, including me, in this fed. And ALL FEDS have to be members of a governing body! And as such are legally bound to up hold the rights of any member. Sure the members might grunt and sniffle a bit. Most likely whinge aqnd moan. even some childishly make out they thought 'Someone else' etc. is responcible. But they soon would put their house in order if and when it went higher and the real threat of being banned themselves for not upholding the rights of a RPRA member etc. Remember when I spoke to the Fed president TWICE in this regards. Once when he said 'Yes you can take your birds to ANY club in the fed radious - or further a field is more suitable - and they have to mark and put your birds hrough ... which I did. and secondarily when I went with transfered youngsters and the 'Marker' spouted he knew - from his mate - that their birds hadn't had the 2 weeks clearance. The others had. The Fed president stated simply. 'Fine some can be entered into the race, but can still be sent as trainers'. Seems many never think about it, or had the need too. Like Gamekeeper most think that it can't be done. It can of course. Indeed nearly sent 10 or so a few seasons ago to the two clubs that refused me membership just to peee them off. I would now without a second qualm if ever I - for whatever reason - didn't havea club to fly in.
  16. Not so. You can be a RPRA member or a Fed member without being in a club. Kempston etc. flew with Raunds club for a season or so and had their birds took till the boundary was opened up. However NO club can refuse to mark and send birds through if asked. If out the radious, or not allowed to jion for whatever reason THEY MUST take your birds. A member of the RPRA can buy rings for example without being in a Club / or Fed. But unless you can't be a member for any reason, who would want to, or then have the gall to just turn up. A fellow near me peeved a few off. said he wasn't going to race with the club anymore. So resigned. Next season he turn up as normal and sent them as trainers, which of course had to be rubbered etc. Triedit the second season and he was peeved of because they said he HAD to pay the same fee to send as trainers. yes went the first season with out paying for his birds to be sent. So yes, turn up and pay the same fee and they have to take them.... Any CLUB within the Fed radious. Fd member or not even I believe, because the umbrella of the RPRA covers you. Indeed if a few more like me actually did it - which I did - more clubs would think twice about refusing membership.Especially after a season of carting non members birds lol.
  17. His was a Jewish School lol :P;D ;D ;D .... I did warn you all lol ;D ;D
  18. Mind Gamekeeper, if you really want to pee them off.... Jion a fed. Just turn up with your birds and they HAVE to market them etc. etc and send them to the race points. Have don't it. They can't refuse and it gets up their noses you not having to pay marking / club / subs etc. etc. Of course you go along Saturday night whatever, and see how your birds have fared as if a Fully paid up member. Yes they put them through to allow you your Velocity. Had a couple of Scum clubs not far from me.... One now wanting new members, and one still refusing any fancier that has a pigeon that is able to breathe, let alone fly. Am in three clubs, one 20 miles away the other 10 miles east. One now on par, east wise and only 6 miles away.

    loft and cats

Yes I agree 67ghirl, but it doesn't send them 3 foot in the air or knock them out, it is more an irritating tickle... uncomfortable. Gosh does one think that Garden centres etc. would be allowed to sell them if they were untoward :-/ :-/ Of course not. IT NOT connect to the mains that gives them sivitus dance. Gosh you can put your hand on it and hold it ... Works on horses still etc. etc. so must be good and does what it is intended without detrimental damage, permant hurt or pain, doen't eat them, all what cats can and do cause to our pigeons.

  21. Mind a Jewish one is 33 . 4 when selling ... 38 . 7 when buying, hope this helps lol :P ;D ;D
  22. Probably the equivalent of the Welsh National side lol ;D ;D
  23. If most donated £10 - £25 say on here alone, Pete would have a decent day or two at some of these sales. Must of course let Pete tell us all what is what after he has taken stock. Sooner sort sooner fixed. O.K. we can never replace any favourites lost, but time heals ---- hurts as it heals maybe, but ...
  24. We all will rally around for birds Pete. I'll breed you a pair of 2nd rounders or give a donation. ... Other may wish to have a auction on here... Indeed may be both. I have no stock birds that are proven :-/ Though maybe that would be a better way to get you up and running, and have some birds quicker. Would I feel certainly give you a much needed incentive and something to look forward with, and dreams eh ;D. You are a great Mod, and first class gent, and have been only too pleased to help others. So don't feel abash mate, just let us know what you perfer? An Auction, youngbirds or stock pairs, because like 90% of us I doubt you are able to go out willy nilly and replace.

Don't go for the 9 volt battery 'Garden Centre' ones... the time you need it the battery will be flat. Glad you're sorted Frank.
