Strangely enough Slugmonkey, I advocate that entirely. I personally don't want to get up in the night about 7 .30 to time in short races, so I can take the misses shopping or whatever twaddle many spout. I 'd much rather have a lay in. Infact I seldom ever do, and certainly haven't of late. Now if that means I send to expierence the birds, to get them honed to race finess, then so be it, for I am more than happy with the 1200 ypm races - or less - which are much more to my taste. Now if I lose those birds not happy with that, then fine, go and sit on a church top and save me feed. A good flyer when asked why he won't try the South Rd states simpley. 'I'm not interested in the 1500 ypm+ Velocities etc. and blow homes. I want the 1200y/pm or less'. etc. etc. Like the man says, 'Ask who won he 125 miler and it's hard to recall. Ask who won the 'Lerwick etc. and most know'.

Thanks Pete lol Bigda like the renoun 5 Great Scots you can't remember the 6th lol. As for what about decanio, Larson, dalglish, mc clair, bremner, law, Jordan, Different eras to make a half a side side.... Remember the world Cup winners ALL class acts and not counting argueable our best Striker ever Jimmy Greaves etc. But Bigda, you forget it is only after they big pay days are over here that that step down and play easy footie for a decent wage rather than go down 2 - 4 league tables here for less merit, but VERY good supporters cheers. :P Mind I also have stated that many great sides have a great scot in them. Gemmil, strachen etc. to add to those you've mentioned. But you know, as your mate Thatcher would say, 'One swallow doesn't make a summer'.

His request approved, the Fox News photographer quickly used a cell phone to call the local airport to charter a flight. He was told a twin-engine plane would be waiting for him at the airport. Arriving at the airfield, he spotted a plane warming up outside a hanger. He jumped in with his bag, slammed the door shut, and shouted, 'Let's go'. The pilot taxied out, swung the plane into the wind and took off. Once in the air, the photographer instructed the pilot, 'Fly over the valley and make low passes so I can take pictures of the fires on the hillsides.' 'Why?' asked the pilot. 'Because I'm a photographer for Fox Cable News,' he responded. 'And I need to get some close up shots.' The pilot was strangely silent for a moment, finally he stammered, 'So, what you're telling me, is. .. you're NOT my flight instructor?'

A Bigda even a has been Gazza was too good and took the pee. And in his twilight years there he was running rings around yer - must a 100 or more at least with out counting. :-/ Gosh Martin O'niel took a load of twilight players and dominated just as he and they pleased. Most couldn't have held down a shirt in the English Division 1.

Well horses for courses and Celtic and rangers aren't geared up to do any good in the premier. Sure they can and will raise their game the odd time and beat say a liverpool etc. But to stay pace with the English clubs, especially with the players bought and wages paid, they would have to invest tremedously to live with the bottom six. As for foriegners taking their money out, if and when the bubble bursts, that is a irrelevancy because they would still be in the market at the going rate the market dictates. So you bought a house for a million pound. then sell for 850,000, so what you can still buy the same like for like for that same... and leave the cash even and gamble it might drop more even. If it does, buy it back, or similar, and then if and when price stabalize and eventually go up again, whoopi you make more money. Commodaties are good if you don't have to sel. Price is irrelevant when selling to buy anothet because thay will all have had the same cost effectiveness. Money owed to the banks - which most is, would be devalued. the owners would still be responcible and not the club's asset if any. So if sold on at a loss, the market would reflect as much.

Have to agree 100%. I sent 3 y/b's to Thurso 469 miles in 1989 I believe. It was the Midland National Championship Club or something stupid that only rn for a few seasons. Was a diabolical so - called race. Non stop heavy rain, and was the first in the Northants Fed ever to do it. 2 out of the three before any other, and a vast radious after our fed too. We sometime get and Elgin race 380 miles or so. But haven't of late mores the pity.

Home alone was Robinsons great one. I handled Twighlight.... caused a hell of a stink. I was 11 at the time and just , well did it as one does lol. Also 'Starlight. I believe if memory serves me correct they were 'King Brothers. I know it fetch 3625 and was then a world record. I believe also Louis Masserella bought it. Next record was early 60's when Frankie George bought that Dutch bird (again I believe) for £700. Now that one made the TV and all the media. But again I'd venture that it is the Distance birds that have nigh always demanded the highest prices, and as I say, Most, if not all, strains of repute have the Distance birds to formulate them regardless what distance they eventually excell at.
-
Well it is easier obviously, but then again not too many in the NRCC for instance fly the real distance. To, say from Thurso or Lewick especially to compare Louth, Lincoln, Norfolk etc. to flying Kiddiminster, West london, let alone Wales, Devon , Cornwall is a joke in reality. Sure they can't say too much.... or can they :-/ We flew the Faroes, east Norway. Bet your bottom dollar that the 'Names' in the East Coast Club wouldn't entertain it. Many have the birds, because of their set up to fly it any road. Nice to read Demolishion Mans comments regards of the LATE and Great F. Hall. He was also on of the 'Old Hands, with Stan Bishops etc. - there were five in all I believe - I am also correct, 99 .9 certain, that this was indeed the fellow that sorted Jim Biss's birds out, and bought for him when he Left London - where Biss had also flew well, to concentrate on a good location to achieve better things and ratings and merit. Now he could and did afford the birds true, but also knew how to fly them.

Yes, nice birds, have 2 - 3 have caught my eye .... so will be nice to the missis eh1 Gosh hope it ain't too long starting lol.

With all the new technology regarding fertility recently, a 65-year-old friend of mine was able to give birth. When she was discharged from the hospital and went home, I went to visit her. 'May I see the new baby?' I asked 'Not yet,' she said. 'I'll make coffee and we can visit for awhile first.' Thirty minutes passed, and I asked, 'May I see the new baby now?' 'No, not yet,' She said. After another few minutes had elapsed, I asked again, 'May I see the baby now?' 'No, not yet,' replied my friend. Growing very impatient, I asked, 'Well, when can I see the baby?' 'WHEN HE CRIES!' she told me. 'WHEN HE CRIES?' I demanded. 'Why do I have to wait until he CRIES?' 'BECAUSE I FORGOT WHERE I PUT HIM, O.K.!' Paddy and Mick go to London to donate sperm. It was a disaster! Paddy missed the tube and Mick came on the bus! -----------------------------oOo----------------------------- A Muslim was sitting next to Paddy on a plane. Paddy ordered a whiskey. The stewardess asked the Muslim if he'd like a drink. He replied in disgust "I'd rather be raped by a dozen whores than let liquor touch my lips!" Paddy handed his drink back and said "Me too, I didn't know we had a choice!" -----------------------------oOo----------------------------- Paddy calls Easyjet to book a flight. The operator asks "How many people are flying with you ?" What is the difference between Bird Flu and Swine Flu? For bird flu you need tweetment and for swine flu you need oinkment (Boom, Boom)

Nah Hagrid would be good looking compare to you lol ;D

Another thing I think is correct and that's 'The quicker you become prepare to lose birds, the better your loft becomes, and quicker at that. Of course one must be prepared everytime to lose a afvourite. THEN and only then will one send their so - called Best to do the job in hand ... instead of making excuses etc. like putting to stock blah blah. they must go and prove the metal.

Yes, of course any bird will and can fly 500 miles if it wants to. If it doesn't it won't, and maybe some haven't the mind set or urgency to do so as quick as others do and it might. A second chance or whatever you decide.... Let Mr Basket have a say again, and again till the truth smacks you in the face. They can and will shape up, or won't. Homers become 'Racers' ummm a bit sceptical my self there. However I feel a valid point here is 'What distance do you wish to fly'? So as most agree systems and feeding are different why does one feed, have a system geared for all distances and types of races :-/ If I wish to start racing at 450 miles, why would I A. bother outside of expience and fitness / mind set send them. I wouldn't. Yep make get the odd swallow and win a few even, but that must be regarded as a bonus surely! So now I have contented and fit, healthy birds motivated to do certain races, yes at 450 onwards, if Mr Baskets sends them to another hotel so what! No good for me anyway! So withing say 3 years I'd have birds that wish, and are capable of doing the chores i want doing. Yes I don't mind them being in a 5 star hotel where I wait on them hand and foot! But believe you believe me, the sooner any birds are content with doing just that one simple thing for me, after all the sweat, cleaning and medical cares and top feed etc. etc, then the quicker they bugger off the better eh!

Canadians are governed - goverment ruling I believe - by I bird per square foot of air. that - if say is 6 high 6x6x6 divided by 9. so that would be 24, but that needn't nescate what air condition is of hand. An Avery and good AIR CIRCULATION means more I suppose. I had 16 piard breed in a 6 x 4 with no problems. But it was / is very well ventilated.

Good post, and reality. Remember the Fed banning us from flying the Shetlands with yearlings, to Lerwick. I don't know whether this has been recinded, but somehow I don't think so. The master sorter was able to do his job. The one 'Mr Basket' discarded were general proven poor stuff. Strange how an established loft can trace back to the birds that weren't molly coddled and the numbers - out side of 'Selling Merchants' are kept to relatively small. Give Mr Basket some fit and healthy birds and allow him to do his job I say.

So they won't overeat and that's for sure. Now I can go along quite happily with that. Wonder whether IB has any thoughts / reason why one shouldn't mix the two? :-/
