Looking through my 2015 SNFC Year Book I cannot find any mention of any Sartilly winners result in the book and I know we went there over the years. Is it just me that cannot find the page ?.

Hoi Troublemaker, I was £1 for raffle tickets which I had to show her. :emoticon-0136-giggle:

AHEM. I am an old age pensioner and a very very poor one at that. The three quid I won last night had to be handed over to the Mrs who told me I could have the 50P profit then asked how much petrol I had used ?, Telling her I had been given a bum steer direction wise cut no truck with her and she took the 50P back. Oh the joys of married life. ""NOT""..

Its not my fault I was given silly instructions by Chrissieboy which had me in Coatbridge [i think] then meeting an ice cream van who was a tube with his drawing and if it was not for the nice Taxi Driver who took me to the door and stuck his hand oot the windae lookin fur a tip I think so a shook his hand and said thank-you. I dont know why he took off with tyres screaming or mabye it was him and their was a funny smell of burning rubber. Anyways Tiger says he will pop round and give me a lift next week to make sure I arrive safely. Real Gentleman..

Cheers Wattie but I'l be lookin fur a pooler next week LOL.

He presented a beautiful Red hen to take 1st in the handling class with "Butch" Cassidy and a lovely Cheq cock pipping me for 1st but I might get my ain back next week as the manny said, I'l be back.

Not wishing to be greedy Walter and upset the easy racers on The EAST coast who have been miserably quiet on this subject. Or them frae the South who get a carry up the road leaving the real racers tae come through LOL there is not to many races for them at 500 miles.. OH Hiya Steve
-
I think I have been trying to say that from the start Walter although perhaps not as eloquently as I would wish or others may have done. I do believe Mr Greive "Eastcoaster" will have hopefully gleaned enough info to pick up 2nds in the Section as I hope to take 1sts. That being my hopes and aspirations. :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Walter, Its funny you saying that because I have had numerous day pigeons from 520 miles and quite a few Open positions from 600+ miles not on the day but it took many years trying to get them on the result from 560 miles Gold Cup.
-
SO, would I be correct in saying that if you fed heavy, Beans etc, any extra not reqd will be turned into fats which in turn is fuel for flying ?. This brings to mind the last race I flew in Scotland was Tours 620 miles no day birds and I clocked 3 from 4 sent within 1 hour in the afternoon 2nd day and all I fed was 2 year old beans. One off the reasons I fed Beans was due to my late friend Dennis Dall who fed Beans in the hopper and their was always a pot of Beans in the nest box. As he used to say if it was good enough feeding for his Dad then it was good enough for him and his results distance racing was second to none. By the way he also had great pigeons and even I won from the distance with them. Another Fifer had the best pigeon I ever handled in my life and his name was "Jock" bred and raced by a Mr&Mrs Greive from Ladybank, Twice 2nd Open SNFC Nantes and bred, trained and raced on Beans.

Aye one was a North and one was a South. And I have pointed out the differing temps and terrain in Scotland. Eascoaster is staying in Central Scotland between Glasgow and Edinburgh and greengairs is high up and he gets snaw when we get rain and you get a sun tan in the home counties. Fair enough. Next part is that he states he had visited TOP doo men who have timed on the day flying 500-600 miles feeding 100% Beans..Another 80% Peanuts..Another 80% Maize and finally another 100% Gerry Plus.. The Southern Uplands is a formidable range when the birds have been on the wing for 500 miles and still have another 50 mile to go through them in their endeavour to get home and to my thinking it wont be the feed that will see them complete the journey BUT GUTS and DETERMINATION.

I tried that democracy thing with the wife and she says "get thae dishes washed or I will give you democracy" So I gave in diplomatically and done as I wis telt..

HALLELUJAH.. I was thinking I was the only fancier on this glorious island that still fed a mixture with BEANS in it. Am I the only person on the forum who does not agree with Wiley's statement regarding wind. A North wind out of Lerwick to the Home Counties is a blow home, where for us its a cold yin on the nose and a disaster, A Southerly wind in the U.K. is get the sun tan oot. Regard the terrain your birds are keeping to the East of the country and the only hills are made by moles. Nae disrespect cos we canny help whaur we stay.

Stevie when I moved South I left my birds to others apart from one or two but when C.J.Williams died I had to get rid off everything as I had no place to put them effectively putting me out of the doo game. It was after 18 months that I started up again but it has taken me years to get a team to-gether of quality with so much rubbish going around.

My race loft humidity is controlled by heaters ATX and their was never any amonia smell or it would have been dumped immediately. Droppings were never allowed to build up as they were removed daily and nest boxes have newspapers which are removed daily. It could be that when shed from shoes outside the E/B was rained on and leached into the grass.
-
Congratulations, well done and I mean that most sincerely. However when I moved down to your neck of the woods I had to change to a lighter diet feed as heavy feeding got me nowhere But as the original question was asked regarding Scottish racing I felt their was a difference in climate and general weather patterns which determines a different feeding method which we in Scotland have been blinded by the power of advertising. I am of the belief that their is no such thing as sprint, middle long distance pigeons and a good bird will win at 65 miles and 600 miles as I have had them in the past and the feed was never changed only the motivation.

Prior to having a knee replacement and being a fan of the scraper I put down 10 bags of Easy Bed to assist my helper not having to clean out whilst I was convalescing. Tooing and frowing between the lofts it appeared that E/B was sticking to the sole of shoes and was being shed when walking over the garden grass. [weeds to some of you peasants} I digress. After a number of months I noticed bald patches appearing especially within 10 feet from the loft doors which turned to mud as the grass just melted away. At the local Agricultural store they had rubber mats which 5 years ago were £10 each 150 x 100cm so off I trundled to buy a couple. I was rather dismayed the price was now £30 each. Searching the internet I managed to buy same for £23 delivered free and they arrived to-day. What a marvellous contraption they are as its like walking on a thick carpet and no more muddy shoes. The point I should be making is that the E/B that I put down was not the original E/B and I wonder if the resin in it contributed to me having the poorest racing in my nellie puff. It certainly was a good [grass] weed killer.

It really was an honest mistake as I did not have my eyes on. I did not have my eyes on either when prepairing dinner for the Chinese Ambassador to Britain which was a huge success until I accidentally knocked a full glass of water onto her husbands lap and he made such a commotion about it their bodyguards rushed in with drawn hand guns LOL, but thats another story. :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: But for a small renumeration I could reveal more on how the other half live.

Well,Well,Well. 24 hrs after opening this topic we still have not been enlightened by the experts on the forum regarding how to get 500-600 mls on the day with the feed !! Perhaps you should have realised that no one who writes on the forum has had a bird on the day from 500-600 or if they have then they never had a clue as to why the bird turned up as it was not the fancied one. I suppose it takes a hard neck to blow your own trumpet and perhaps they are shy BUT you did say on the day. In my day you would have them in 13 hrs into Central Scotland from Avranches, Sartilly, Beauvais or dol. 14 hrs from Rennes and 600 mls was normally next day. Everybody fed Beans,Peas,Tares and Maize with a little of what you fancied as extra and that was a secret. The birdage was 3,000 to 6,000 and Versa Laga was a bottle of foreign beer. :emoticon-0136-giggle:
