  1. OK Arch I see what ye mean :emoticon-0136-giggle:
  2. Cannae mind of that Arch, what was ye convoying pigeons ?
  3. Good wee read that was
  4. Tend to agree with you there Dave! Personaly I dont care if their in a aluminium crates wooden one or wicker basket. Would like more access to water on 2 or 3 sides, better ventilation and extraction. Oh and it would be good when if there was a holdover the birds didn't have to eat their food off the top of sh**!!!
  5. Reason I ask about distances Steven is that although Leige and Reims (2 longest races ) Seem a bit short on distance, it might be a good thing for a season or two.Let's face it there will be a lack of experienced pigeons in the convoy. Certainly from those 2 races! It'll take 2/3 years before numbers are up with more experienced birds in the convoy, can't just do it all with ylgs!
  6. If I'm right Les Mackays winner was flying 529mls into Carnoustie. Stand corrected tho!
  7. What was the distance into the Solway or South section last time it was flown from Leige ???
  8. A thankless job no matter who does it and not many if any in the shortlist for it!
  9. Oops Ovy, aye forgot about Consett in that area as well thanks!
  10. HI Davie boy. Some are saying Aycliffe is no good now m8. Too many obstructions. This news has also came back via Convoyers Davie so ye need to keep looking m8.
  11. Aye we missed yer drivel Peter, knew something was up. Am sure you'll have something for us very shortly lol!
  12. That's not bad m8. Older than some on here, I doubt it lol!
  13. As a 14 yo last year she laid no problem. However I had an accident with the only yb from the first round sods law. Off the top of my head I never got another one til around August. A wee hen am not to keen on but we will see how it goes. Try her with a different ylg cock this year. My time in from Falaise 53rd Open last year is a g daughter of her. Sire of the Falaise hen scored a few times best being 31st Open SNRPC Arras the dam was 49th Open in the same race. In my last race before moving house in the summer of 2016 I managed to win a good steady race in a N East wind from Leicester 260 mls with a cock same way bred as the 53rd Open Falaise hen. A few other children and g children from the "Alston hen"as I call her have also scored from Arras, Billericay, W /Flats in club fed and National level plus the other club races at club/fed level. Just wish I could have had a few more from the old Alston hen as I never got her til she was around 10yo !
  14. Still got a 15 yo hen in the loft from Jock Allen hen x the Stirling cock. Both pigeons were the property of Jock & Isobel Alston who need no introduction. The above fanciers bred many winners down through these pigeons and many owe their success to them. My 15yo hen above is dam and g dam to winners for me and others and despite her age she will be given a chance to breed this year with a young cock.
  15. Yip I know Arch a lot are just reading. I know it's a quiet time of year but more than usual. Howevever I can't be good that people are just looking and not printing anything out. EVERYONES GOT AN OPINION!!! Must be more to it than that. Maybe I'm wrong but do people not want to give their Opinions. Are they affraid or just don't want to be ridiculed or get accused of being a stirrer or trouble maker.
  16. Good read. Wilson Bros were personal friends of the late great Eddie Newcombe. Think it was George that was in Eddie's class at school.
  17. Well m8 I hadnt been on for months so never realy noticed, but do know this has been going on for months. Never spoke to anyone about it but I have certainly noticed it recently. Something far wrong which is a pity because Basics has been a good site. Sorry to have to say it but I think things are going downhill fast!
  18. What's happening to members Post's these days. For months Members have hardly put up any posts. What's the problem that everyone is pretty quiet. Is it just a simple case of over Censorship and fanciers have gave up adding stuff to the basics site ???
  19. OK m8 thanks!
  20. Glad to hear that this club is still up and running!
  21. That's not so good. Something not right there. Thanks for that tho Clocky!
  22. Why is Whitley Bay better m8 is it more open with less obsticles ?
