  1. Tam, we use the trailer 2-3 days a week weather permitting,it holds about 700 birds with maybe 30 members so you may need consider your number of members & the number of their birds they will be sending to determine what size of trailer you will need, obviously as the season progresses the numbers will go down. The y/bs will have larger numbers. Hope this helps Jim Van Hannah

  9. Hi Kenny, last year I won the six yb races I entered in Greenfield club, all raced natural, two hens won two 1sts and one of these hens topped the Fed at Wetherby. they also got 2 Fed cards as ybs their nestmates also picked up fed cards. Another nest pair did not score as ybs but one of them was my double Fed topper this year and her nest mate also got a good fed pos. this year and they were never on darkness. The benefits of darkness I admit is far better but only as ybs.
  10. John, I'm looking at the 2015 pro. and you say that there is only 6 birds on it, should check your facts John, I count 7. As regards photos not appearing in BHW you should take that matter up with them. The full pro. was printed in the BHW.
  11. Hope yer no gonna do out of buisnes john just when its ready to go.
  12. Ive had and still got some birds when they come up on their last two flights they seem to go on the slim side just a little bit more than usual, if they are now improving its a good sign.
  13. Have they been in transit for two days ?. this itself could be the problem, they might not eat for a couple of days adding to the problem. I would give them canker tablet strait away. Were they bought on a auction site, again being away from their own loft adding more stress Are they almost finished the moult, if so you will know that they didn't rear late ybs, at 8 year old they might not lay next year. Best wishes with them
  14. A good fancier all his day's
  15. Will be the first of many to come Lewis
  16. Its described as a very mild antiseptic, to much in the water might stain the feathers esp. white flights, don't really know if it is of any benefit to the birds. I know it was once used to put colour into fireworks.
  17. If I remember when Conquerer won this race that weekend those birds caught the tailend of a hurricane which came up from the med. and pushed he birds well up into the Midlands further proof of this would be to look at the results of the other UK races that same weekend if possible. I'm sure that its physically impossible for a pigeon to do this mileage without a strong tailwind with that flying time.
  18. Does anybody know how Davie Reids sale went today
  19. S.G. Biss or was also known as Jim Biss Your talking to him he owned companies, one of them Golfing and was over here for the golf at St Andrews
  20. Jeff Horn won one SNFC Race after he moved to Scotland
  21. John, as I said we were told that the birds would be fed with inserts, everybody at that delegate meeting heard Gareths answer so 3 years down the line we still don't have them why ? it must be a lot easier on the convoyers to feed the birds without emptying drinkers. last year the transporter come to pick up our birds and saw sprouted grain in the water channels about 3 inches or more. Still don't agree with this rather antiquated system being used our supposedly 'state of the arts' transporters.
  22. John,i assumed the water was put on the birds as soon as they arrived at the race point so in the case of a holdover the water would be emptied out of the troughs then fed in the troughs then refilled with water ? would take a wee while to do this would it not.if you remember John the delegate meeting after the AGM when the Fed agreed to buy the transporters I asked Gareth Rankin how would the birds be fed in the crates he replied inserts, where are these and does any body know what inserts actually are.
  23. Davie, are you describing the Lanarkshire Fed transporter as state of the art. the birds are fed on carboard full of sh**. We were promised the birds would be fed in inserts, we still haven't seen them yet.
  24. Plenty about just now, the wood pigeons are on them daily, they actually start on them while they are still green. we have them next to our lofts but our birds don't go near them. they are dark purple colour very bitter in taste. In the spring the woodies eat the buds.
  25. Bi Carbonate of Soda excellelant for sour crop and wet feeders
