  9. Well done all of you !!
  10. A lot of game keepers do a lot to benifit our `hobby ,policing the the land under their charge
  11. And you are right, that is what it is all about at the end of the day everyone has their own ideas and opinions and this is the perfect place to air them .
  12. Last year garden birds and area very quiet and scarce ,this year from about Feb when a sparrow hawk moved on things have picked up black birds singing and small birds in the trees at back .
  13. I think no as regards young ,its not to test them its to educate them ,its the fanciers of today have turned it into a must have race attitude
  14. I would like to think that after one two races things would work out the first few races no doubt birds would go down for a look then go on their way and as opposed to fly back and forth east to west etc the birds would race from front of fed to the back as Aberdeen would be the settler and make them think now what ,then hopefully the training they have had on line of flight would kick in ,look i maybe wrong but any thing is worth a thought ,shared costs on travel another thing .
  15. Well on a strong west wind they would hug the east coast ,miss Inverurie IMO they the birds often have to go back the way right up to Peterheaad area where from that point they generally filter back through Broch Macduff and onwards into the east ,on a east wind the effects are not so strong as IMO the farer east the wind travels the wind decreases ,on a south wind short race IMO nae good ,best settling wind mild north wind to steady birds up my opinions only !! the thoughts on Aberdeen part of the post is to increase numbers coming up and a steadying up of birds when and before they hit the front of our fed
  16. What about North of Scotland having its 1st race and then its second one travel and liberate with Aberdeen fed at same race point it would centralise birds at Aberdeen where they would drop off to their lofts and our birds would fly in a direction to their own lofts without being spread a 100 mile through out our N of S FED ,IMO its the time late comers are hunting about that they become easy prey for raptors ??
  17. Ats only makin it 10x15 miles is that richt ??
  18. As a matter of interest ,what is the width and depth of the area of you lads fed ,up here like North of Scotland FED we must be about 30 miles deep by about 70 odd mile wide ,as i said i just wondered .
  19. I have been sadly disillusioned with trying to train and race a small team o young birds ,the old birds lost a few ,had one or 2 killed before my eyes in neighbours garden and a couple me and wife saved but all in all old doos i found enjoyment racing etc ,on the other hand youngsters to put in the effort of training suffering losses ,and then eventualy getting some to 1st race ,then on to race 2, your team desimated by hawk, poor weather pressure (thundry clouds and atmospherics) what ever,, is to stressfull and not worth the bother from now on nae racing youngster just private training and leaving them to mature ,is the doos worth still having oh yes ,we have to change to over come our own probs and i dont know the answer to the overall slaughter of youngsters except what i am trying myself
