  1. this year i have split my birds into four teams latebreds yearlings 2yr olds and 3 yr old latebreds and old birds all in different sections with each section being trained and conditioned to bring them to there peak for different races the latebreds for the first four or five to 150 to 18o miles the yearlings will start at 105 miles which is our 3rd race and will get 2 to 3 races the into our fed yearling derby 260 odd miles to set them up for the coast race 360 miles and the two year olds and 3yr old latebreds will get 3 or 4 races then into the inland national with a view of sending the best of them to ypres 450 miles or clermont 521 miles a long with any yearlings that are sticking out my old bird team will get 3 to 4 races then set up and trained after a rest for the gold cup 560 or the 600 mile race while allways looking out for a bird thats telling me its ready for the job i know treating each team separately gives me much more work to do with training and flagging at different times but while im still fit to do it this gives birds that should be able to win or keep me compeditive at every distance club fed and national whether they do or not is another story but keeping them heathy is paramout to my plan so heres hopeing it all comes togethere how do you plan your season or do you not

  15. agree with you 100 percent wull i have found my double grandchildren and grandchildren are better producers than the direct children with my louella jan aardens and buying dbl granchildren the work has been done for you i like the way louella inbreed and line breed there birds and i do the same with them which is proving to be a goldmine for me producing winners and good birds every year but you must breed plenty off them to fined the winners there not all good ones the best thing i ever done was build the five single pair sections to fined out which pairs are breeding the goods and taking 14 to 18 yb off these pairs once you fined them works for me
  16. in this cold weather it only takes un covered eggs 30 to 45 mins to chill i see it with my yearlings every year if i leave them out to long at this time of year thats why i seldom breed off them just the odd pair that have won as yb once the weather heats up they can be off the eggs for hours and have even sent both cock and hen to a race in warm weather and the eggs still hatched after being left overnight eggs are amazing at times tough wee things
