  1. if they are breeding winners they are never to old m8 one of my best cocks is 18 this year with a 16 15 and a few 12 and 14 year olds switch there eggs under yearlings or younger birds for more vigour in rearing remember its only worth keeping any bird for stock if it breeds good birds no matter what its age
  2. i use all rounder m8 its much like versalaga neil with lots of maze and small stuff but only 10 28 pence a bag to which i will add 10 percent barley and i add beans when rearing yb and hemp for more oil and fat for the longer races m8 and thats it
  3. there is no cure for this m8 its a virus that has to run its course dont waste money trying to cure it just treat for secondary infections thats all you can do till it has run its course m8 then put a teaspoon of thin bleech into 5 liters of water leave for a half hour then put it in your drinkers it will kill most things your birds are getting and costs little do this for 14 days then once a week when they are back to normal
  4. im with you tooshy how can you rely on these birds even if they come through it looks like a case of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted id dispose of the ones that have it and keep the ones that dont and start again this is the chance you take when you dont vaccinate but im sorry for the guy its sickening to see been there
  5. give the old birds a wee run togethere with there new mates change any pairings that dont work or i dont like to get them ready for pairing in 2 or 3 weeks yearlings should be laying first egg this weekend swap some of the stock birds eggs under them mark the eggs with felt tip and put in book who is sitting on whos eggs latebreds are out with the bath get them in and yearlings out and bath ill leave the old birds in there boxes over night and split them again tomorrow that will keep me going today lol
  6. neil this is not needed with natural birds my birds get the same mix every day from start to finnish with only hemp seed added to the mix for the longer races keep it simple m8 and let the birds choose what they want with a mix and they will take what they need when they need it they know better than us m8 if your mix has good variety the birds will sort it for you these guys are kidding them selves on that they know what the pigeon needs imo
  7. happy birthday m8 enjoy your day
  8. morning guys
  9. got to say thats something id never do bill because i think untrained birds want to orientate to long at the race point which holds others back and gives bop time to get to them imo but i know of others that have done the same m8 i also believe thats the reason for the big gaps in the birds in the first few races but thats just my opionion who knows
  10. think your right dal after a few tooses i have to use the flag to make them do an hour m8
  11. mines stop rangeing when i start training dal
  12. we learn by our mistakes bill it works for me m8

  14. if he has put the work in he should win good luck to him
  15. i agree with the guys that a combination of things can cause flyaways overcrowding frights and the age of the youngbirds at time of flyaway the latter because if they are not long on the wing they dont have the strenth to get back if there far away one thing i did find out after loseing yb when tossing from three and five miles was to take them on short tosses only after they have had there fly for the day and did not lose any after that now i dont think its far enough and yb want to fly and have ranged much farther than that so now i start them at a min 12 miles but normally first toss 20 miles this i think gives the birds time to work out where they are where as with short tosses the birds are by before they know it but i only train my youngbirds when they have been rangeing for an hour or two everyday for two to three weeks at least
