The analysis I had done on this product many years ago suggested it contained mainly Sodium and Iron probably in the form of sulphates. It also contained other salts in trace quantities. There were higher quantities of Sodium present than Iron. I believe the Iron compliments Vitamin B12 in the body. Yes it is a beneficial product to use but seems a bit overpriced now. The rusty nail will do very little as rust will not dissolve in water. To dissolve the Iron must be present as Ferrous whereby rust is Ferric. That is my understanding

Most of the multivitamins we buy for either human or animal nutrition will be synthetic----man made. Not in a lab but in a chemical plant. The starting material can be either natural or synthetic----chemical. For those who doubt the beneficial qualities of vitamins on humans I would ask that you try Berocca effervescent drinks particularly after a night on the p*ss. The vitamins which are destroyed by alcohol are replaced and they are a great tonic. In all cases they are only useful if our diet is deficient.

Do any contain the Lothian Lass blood?

I thought it was a good dvd. It showed that many different systems can work but that there were no hard and fast rules. It's just a case of trial and error to get the ventilation right. It supplied ideas rather than a solution.

Good post Harry but we are well off topic. The original post asked what races we were going to and what was our preparation. A good topic to discuss but the header was slightly provocative. Stevie----because I respect you I won't even respond.

Vetrinary advice is to do them soon after leaving the nest. That way they are protected early. You never know when you might get a stray carrying the disease in.

A good point is to dip their beak in the drinker for a few seconds to teach them where to find water.

Hi ---I have a mate in Witney who has a pair. He was given then a couple of weeks ago by another fancier in the area. I can ask for contact details for you. He sent me a picture just last week.
-
I have heard it said by experienced fanciers that you should avoid this if possible. Only really one way to prove or disprove the theory

Sandy over the wall from me had one from Edinburgh area several years ago. He always had 3 good lifts with that pigeon every year for about 4 years. I once thought it was the only pigeon he had then thought I wish I had one just like it.
-
I think it's because that bird has found a loft it is really happy in. If it were not happy then it would have moved on.

I had pigeons from Wilf Reed some years ago. The did score but less well than I expected. However I may not have done then justice due to my work pattern at the time

While I would make no claim to be perfect I might just be marginally closer to it than you. Frankly I never comment on any matter which does not concern me.

Naedoos Your last response not only highlights your lack of attention to detail but also your sub standard education. On this site there are a number of good and logical fanciers who are happy to share their experiences with less experienced fanciers. Unfortunately there are also those who have very little to share other than the entertainment value of their bigotted opinions. Yes that's right those who feel anyone who does not conform to their views must be wrong. You must know the type of person who is more interested in financial gain than the good of the sport. Frankly you have done neither your club nor the Scottish Fancy any good whatsoever. Lastly I would add the following warning-----please engage your brain before switching on your P.C.

Oh dear is this the extent of your education. Only on a site like this which such small minded people be tolerated.

You seem unable to post a positive comment. Spouting inane venom at every opportunity. Let's be candid about this the existence of the SNRPC is costing you money. That's not the fault of the SNRPC---That's down to the Heroes. Unless I an wrong I see you sell Unicon systems. All declared on your Incom Tax Return I assume

Similar to you all I enjoy the work of John Harwood. I wonder how long it takes him to type a typical article. I know it would take me at hours to type a text of that length.

What a completely fictitious reply from someone who has obviously lost his grip on reality. Posts with this degree of venom go a long way to explaining exactly why we have a split. Proud to be a member but not at the AGM. Oh well that logic is difficult to follow. An "elite club" Sorry no---It does have some elite members but any club which openly condons cheating is a long way from elitism. I do hope the SNFC members resolve their issues today then they can start to rebuild the tarnished reputation of what was once a great club. I live in the present and try to think progressively.
-
Whatever happens I hope you resolve the issues. Good luck

Doubt it but I am from about 12 miles North of Irvine

I don't think the commission bids are the real threat. It's the plants in the audience falsley bidding. I know this happens at Blackpool. What really surprises me is that sprinters are often much more expensive than genuine 500 mile pigeons. I struggle with that one.

I think they may be working on flawed information and supposition. I wonder if they recovered carcases at all. If they did then did they actually prove that these birds had been poisoned, died of natural causes or picked up something. Lets be truthful here I any of us were to poison birds of prey would we leave the evidence lying around. I believe any poison used would be relatively quick acting and victim would be unlikely to fly away.----Reasoned Supposition on my behalf. I don't believe that landowners poison birds of prey----they shoot them.

It's unfortunate the Scottish Government who compiled the map can't find something more worthwhile to spend our taxes on.
-
A second day pigeon must be as exciting as a day pigeon with a late liberation and no day birds recorded. Irrespective of what day it was timed the bird did it's best and I appreciate that.

Someone who threatens litigation has made a clear statment that his own interests come before those of the club. No I think it is not right
