    Domestos

Great minds and all that. You have, however educated me on the composition of Vim and I thank you for that.

    Domestos

I believe there is an article available by Dr. Marks regarding the use of bleach in drinkers. I have a friend who has a 1 loft race in Canada and he uses it constantly especially when birds are arriving at the loft. Domestos is bleach which is also known by it's chemical name of Sodium Hypochlorite. I think it will be effective by means of the free chlorine sterilising the drinker and contents therefore preventing cross infection. I must admit I have never used it as I worked in a plant which made bleach and I detest the smell.

    hawks

I seem to be relatively hawk free at the moment. Which is both good and bad news. Bad news as I am part of the SHU Sparrowhawk survey and it would have been good to report a few attacks.
  4. I believe one person is already a member of both committees and an asset to both. I am aware of at least another 3 SNRPC committee members who compete in both clubs. I think that illustrates they the membership of SNRPC have the interests of pigeon racing at heart.
  5. I'll be the first to admit we are wandering off topic.
  6. I didn't but I have since joined the RPRA about 2 years after joining SNRPC. I can double check if you like.
  7. Many of the Louella Busschaerts carry these lines.
  8. Most definately yes. See Rembrandt2 coo for application form. All joking aside you can compete with SNRPC but those who are RPRA members have free measurements. As all organisations seem to change racepoints annually this can be a big bonus. I am a member of both unions.
  9. You don't have to join the RPRA to compete with the SNRPC. You need to join the RPRA if you wish to compete in Section M of the NFC. I hope this clarifies any misunderstanding
  10. The point about not being able to vote him off because he has a contract of employment is very valid as we are all now protected in our employment by law. I wonder what the wording of the contract states.
  11. It's the New Year windup thread.
  12. I assume that they are being kept till a pair of feeders is available to incubate them. I also assume they are from stock birds which he would like to breed as many youngsters from as possible.
  13. Storage of eggs for hatching is best done at cooler temperatures. They should be turned at least once daily---more often if you have a routine which allows this.
  14. This is probably the best suggestion I have heard on any of these threads for some time. At least a vote taken would find "the mind of the meeting" There are reasons why we should unite but there are also reasons why it will not happen at this point in time. Possibly some years down the line it may. I think the members who compete with both organisations like it that way as it gives them more options, more sport, more chances to win a National. Personally I struggle to compete in one organisation.
  15. Me to feels like we have turned the corner

  17. Like any fancier who moves from one country to another he will hand pick his location for maximum advantage. Perhaps that is why he feels a need to defend himself. Jeff Horn never moved to the West of Scotland in his quest to win a Scottish National.
  18. Wish I had known that before I bought it
  19. I have it but have not watched it yet

His last race was in 1968 His best position was 3rd Club Lancaster which is about 120 miles. Speaks volumes for the power of advertising

Having a laugh or not he has made enough money from selling these to never have to work. The mugs still form a queue. I once knew of a Japanese fancier who owned 30 direct Janssens. He also bought 24 from Henry.
  22. Good for you Andy. I wouldn't like to see you having a nasty. We have a guy up here just outside Edinburgh who dies his red to brighten up the journey of the motorists on the M8.
  23. That was the only thing he added to the drinking water but he had really good birds and was an early influence on me. Always wear wellies when chasing sheep
  24. I once had a friend who used Potassium Permanganate in the drinking water twice weekly. He flew well. He said of Potassium Permanganate "it's excellent but it's not expensive enough to be popular" I always remember these words of a true gentleman.
  25. I will try heather and pine needles this year and monitor. Both are obviously free.
