  1. Chris Gordon had an auction at Blackpool. If you can get a copy of the sale list there may be some interesting reading there. I would be guessing at the breeding but I think they are Pearson and Dransfield Busschaerts X Eric Fox pigeons (I could be wrong there). I believe Pennine Heights is 50% these lines.
  2. Very valid point indeed. I think that I worded the title incorrectly. I should simply have enquired about westerly race points.
  3. I queried some of our proposed liberation sites with the RPRA and this was their response. Gradually the I am starting to have a clearer picture. Carlisle & Appleby are not RPRA liberation sites. Uttoxeter is depicted on the UK Liberation Site Map but has been left of the Uk Liberation Sites list on codes, names etc. I will rectify this today.
  4. Thanks for that Peter.
  5. Hi and thanks for that guys. I have been on the RPRA site and there is no code for Uttoxeter but there is one for Stafford which is close by. If as Peter suggests Appleby is no longer available then that is a problem as it's an important race for both us and Lanarkshire. I am afraid we are just that bit late this year as we struggled to get a committee.
  6. Thanks for the information you guys. Presently Ayrshire who have decided to GO WEST are trying to finalise race points. There is some doubt about several of the chosen points so I am trying to clarify these. I note that there is no RPRA Code for Appleby although Solway list their liberation site at Appleby as Fair Hill. Perhaps someone will clarify this one later. Peter's observation could be correct. I see no RPRA CODE for Uttoxeter although Lanarkshire (I think) used this point last year.
  7. Does anyone know the Lanarkshire 2014 programme. I have looked at the web site and it is well out of date.
  8. Some goes to allotments, some on my own garden, If I am stuck some goes to landfill at a council tip but we also have an "organic waste bin" collected weekly which contains everything from garden to food waste. I am thinking about this as an additional source.
  9. Perhaps the breeding would have given a clue as to the source and the fact that he may actually have had the birds as gifts!
  10. I think the tests are done routinely but not sure if they only start when you hit 60.
  11. It's very much a lucky dip but any dark pigeon would be the best bet. Blue is also acceptable. I always avoid red to grizzle as that often breeds red grizzle.
  12. Robbery at Blackpool is an art form and comes in many guises including admission fees, overpriced products, and ghost bidders to name but a few.
  13. There is no doubt that Charlie Mc Kerrow (senior) was a good pigeon fancier. He was a gem of a guy into the bargain.

    Strange

Provided the weather was good I would assume they have been chased by a peregrine. I hope they return.
  15. I think it cost Mr. Shackelton £6000 in legal fees to have his bird returned.

    Maize

Some of the best seasons I ever had were when I used large maize covered in flour. I have no idea what kind it was but it came directly from the docks in 10 stone bags and was very reasonable priced. I wish I could get my hands on some again.
  17. PM sent I phoned Ian this evening on your behalf. Sorry for the delay.
  18. There is a roller group on Facebook I am sure someone would help you there.
  19. Yes they did. They were the same lines as Ian had all originating from the birds of the late Matt White of Paisley.
  20. Ian Noble the SHU president had some several years ago but I don't know if he still has any.
  21. This post just has to represent double standards from someone who participates in the Arona Tenerife Single Loft Race.
  22. R.I.P. Jake
  23. Every day is a school day.

    Berocca

It's an effervescent vitamin drink made by Bayer for humans. The largest component is Vitamin C. It gives humans a lift if taken first thing in the morning and is particularly good as a hangover cure. I expect it will also give the birds a lift but ensure that it is given fresh after feeding as Vitamin C goes off very quickly.
  25. You shouldn't say that Graham. I believe the SHU directive is none should be issued before 1st January.
