  1. It was reported in 2012 that whilst Wildlife Minister in the UK, Richard Benyon, who owns both pheasant and grouse shoots, refused a request from other MPs that possession of carbofuran should be made a criminal offence.[10] Green Party MP Caroline Lucas was quoted as saying: "The minister's shocking refusal to outlaw the possession of a poison used only by rogue gamekeepers to illegally kill birds of prey would be inexplicable were it not for his own cosy links to the shooting lobby."[10]
  2. It mentions Carbofuran as being particularly lethal to raptors. It's not often they release information like that.
  3. Tony Cowan did an interview with him once on tape. Mainly just 2 guys chatting. It was not really a how to achieve success video but some interesting topics discussed.
  4. In my opinion that time to act is between now and September. There is no point in acting in winter as the demand decreases then. I recon that the problem will increase by a factor of approximately 25% each year till saturation point is reached. Saturation point will be a while away as long as we provide prime quality food. There is little else I would choose to add on open forum especially one like this where you don't even need to be a member to read the portal.
  5. I made the mistake of tossing at Abington last week---never again will I train that far down on the west route. The hens took all day to home with one missing and one damaged. There is hardly a racer in the hut which has not been injured this year. These injuries are caused either by hawk attacks or striking obstacles to avoid the attacks.
  6. Partially done Harry there is some right important stuff in there.
  7. Mine run together. The initial benefit for me was that the old birds stopped the youngsters ranging too far in the early stages. Eventually the youngsters range on their own leaving the old birds behind.
  8. The outcome of this race and 1 other previous race is that I will be unlikely to compete in any further old bird races other than Maidstone and Ypres. I won't make a final decision yet as, if a bird is on form, for some additional race then it will go there.
  9. I had problems with this about 2 months ago after I downloaded Internet Explorer---10 I think. The only way I could access the site was by using Google Chrome as my browser. I hope this resolves your issue.
  10. I hope so Harry and I'm not that bothered who it belongs to just as long as it's up with the best!
  11. Just for interest what are the chances of a Saturday liberation given the current weather forecast.
  12. IF THEY ARE YOUNGSTERS AND THE LOFT IS OPEN I WOULD NOT DISCOUNT A CARRION CROW.
  13. This is the best post I have read on here in ages!
  14. As Bob Jamieson told me about 1971 "it's good for the birds used in the drinker twice weekly but it's not dear enough for pigeon fanciers".
  15. Sunny in Ayrshire youngsters have been flying since 05:15.
  16. What they mean depends on how the bird acquired them. In an adult racer they probably show that the bird has been pushed to the limit at the time when the fretted feather was growing. If they occur in a stock pigeon or youngster which has never had a night away from the loft I would be very suspicious.
  17. I know that electronic communications have been discussed on this site before especially with regard to racing losses but it seems this site at Menwith Hill just north of Harrowgate has been expanded. I note the web site suggests it is a tool used in drone attacks which makes me think it will be particularly active at the moment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Menwith_Hill
  18. Ayrshire liberated at Wakefield at 08:15 into a very light westerly wind.
  19. Ayrshire bright sunny hardly any cloud. Breeze light.

    Help

I honestly don't think private are much better than NHS. Having said that I reported a stray to an Irish fancier about 2 years ago who sells hearing aids privately. He could have helped but I don't remember his name. Try to find a lip reading class in your area which will help (40%) of conversation is lip readable. The people at the class will discuss their hearing problems and you might find some good advice there. Are the NHS not prepared to upgrade your existing aids? Have they offered a Cochlear Implant? The tubing on these needs to be changed about every 2 months and also checked for blockage/condensation at least weekly. The biggest hearing charity is the RNID but it has changed it's name recently. They sell equipment which can be used in conjunction with your hearing aids provided you switch to a loop setting. If you are registered deaf then you save the VAT on any purchases. I hope this gives you some more avenues to explore. You are correct I am also corn beef.

The met office issued a severe weather warning for Strathclyde for today Monday. They issued this warning yesterday 24 hours in advance. On every occasion I looked at XC weather it forecast bright sunshine. Just who do you believe.
  22. Well done Yvonne
  23. Epsom salts are Magnesium Sulphate. They were used to purge the pigeons at one time before mating. However the Magnesium in them will benefit muscle function.
  24. I BELIEVE THEY HAVE SHORT COURSED AT APPLE IN BRAEHEAD.
  25. The area from Thirsk to Sedgefield was good for a liberation with high cloud and a blue sky.
