    Warning

I had a text last night telling me I could be entitled to £1250 income tax return asking me to contact the sender. Obviously that was one for the bin
  2. I have tried early young in the past and found that, when I started training, only a few were still in the loft. I think youngsters on the wing before the hen peregrine and s/h go to nest can be very vulnerable. No more early young for me I am afraid.
  3. if memory serves me correctly R.V. Woodcraft did a junior fancier's loft. I am unsure of the dimensions or cost but it might be worthwhile checking out their web site.
  4. local pigeons which are winning at the distance you would like to compete at. strains are a myth and invented by the fertile imagination of those who wish to sell for profit. many of the best racers belonging to fashionable strains are first crosses.
  5. You may be right with the racepoint Ricky. I thought it was Vire for some reason. I am almost certain it was a blue hen. I believe that his yearlings had their first race of the season from Stafford.
  6. I have not seen him for a few years now but he was really unwell then. I assume he can no longer look after the birds.
  7. That's very sad John. I remember a couple of outstanding performances by the same hen. I think it was from Vire with the SNFC. I have always had a great of admiration and respect for him.
  8. Is that Willie from Kilmarnock?
  9. very well said john. ETS suppliers work like Gillette-they give you a free razor then rip you off for the rest of your life buying blades.

I read the post as Falaise International------is this correct? Should it read Falaise National?
  11. I think the doubts were cast even before this show.
  12. I bought 3 scrapers and some wormer---easifen capsules -buy one get another half price. I prefer to use capsules. I had other items on my list but could not be bothered trying to navigate through a crowd half of whom were producing hydrogen sulphide like it was going out of fashion.
  13. thanks for that Stuart after all the white knuckle journeys we shared.
  14. Well done Stuart !
  15. I believe Matt Cowan of Saltcoats was also a member of this organisation. His son Lindsay still races and is a member of the Clyde Coast Club in Ayrshire. He may have some information.
  16. I look forward to that Stuart with a Latte of course!
  17. I'm still not following your logic stuart. we are measured on a straight line from a to b. If geography means that some birds can fly on a straight line while others must fly on an indirect line then those flying further than the measured distance must be at a disadvantage. Winning pigeon races is not always about which bird flies fastest it's about which bird takes the most direct route home.
  18. No one can ever prove or disprove it but I would bet that Karen's Girl took the shortest route home. Her performance was so good that she could not have taken anything other than a direct route.
  19. stuart I am not following your logic. I watched all my birds return from Ypres last year. I timed the first 5 and all had section positions. They homed from the direction of Glasgow which suggests that they not only returned via the east side of the pennines but probably went up as far as Edinburgh before turning. I believe the wind was westerly at liberation but given an easterly race point and a westerly wind we in the west can forget open positions unless we happen to have an exceptional pigeon.
  20. my understanding would be that it is caused by OPEC who are trying to hurt Russia as that country supports Assad while at the same time they are attempting to make extraction by "fracking" seem like an uneconomic proposition. Once they have achieved their objectives the price will increase.
  21. I completely agree with Vincent. The crooks, vagabonds and peddlers of illegal substances must go. How can any football team give of their best wondering if they will have a job or even have a wage in the bank at the end of each month.
  22. I enjoyed my day at the show catching up with old friends. The committee obviously work very hard preparing for the event and Ian Noble obviously relished his 15 minutes of fame with a microphone in his hand. The birds in show looked well and the fanciers concerned obviously worked hard to have them in condition especially given the weather in the run up to the show. I think trade stands at shows will rapidly become a thing of the past as everything is available online now.
  23. I don't know what is happening here but I believe all poultry shows in Holland are cancelled for the month of December
  24. There is a facebook group called Pigeon Genetics. The people there are very knowledgeable and helpful. Even for those not interested in colour mating there is some interesting reading on their pages.
  25. 100% correct.
