dandydoo i do not think i said anything about anyone running off with anything. if you had taken the time to read and digest the posts all i was doing was asking where the appropriate checks and balances were. also i was asking as to who had final say in policy making and direction. unfortunately your long running obsession with attempting to attack anything i post has shown you up in an unfavourable light. try and see the content of the posts. attempt to see further than who posted the questions. this approach can only help. it would be good for your blood pressure also.

dandydoo why are you obsessed with attacking other organisation not under shu rules. you are very aggresive towards anything or anyone who asks questions. you seem very obsessed. i do not know why.

there was only one objector who put in a written objection. unfortunately only one other member was identified by the objector as having breached the twenty three hour rule in search for "justice" undertaken by the objector. i am curious to know if there would have an objection asking for the rule to be applied accross the board would there have been any more pigeons who excelled in the race needing to be removed from the result. the information available would lead one to believe that enforcing the rule to achieve fairness and maintain integrity was the last thing on the objectors mind. why was only one member identitfied by the objector when it could well have been the case that other pigeons may have fallen into the same category?

every lawyer i know has an opinion. if two people have a conficting point and both go to lawyers. both lawyers tell their client they have a strong case. every court case has has two winners and two loosers. both lwyers win and both members of the public loose. the fact someone is taking legal advice means just that. they are taking advice. this is of no significance other than it has already started costing.

a true englishman living in belgium. vraiment.

Mr Blair and Mrs Thatcher would have us believe this was the case with their governments. all i am saying is that human nature is involved. the other major points of debate i see is who makes the policy? who constructs the job description? who decides what the salary is to be? who eveluates the performance of those who will be paid consultancy fees or salaries? how was the amount of money required arrived at? a venture like this needs control and clear targets right from the off. i do not see any indication of this. i am not trying to be difficult i am trying to be realistic. devils advocate.
-
rose i am only asking questions. i understand donation is voluntary. i think that you are somewhat optimistic in suggesting the quality of people involved somehow makes the set up immune from the ravages of human nature. the past shows that many well intentioned interventions have often lead to catastrophe. all i am trying to point out is that it may be in the best interests of all if those invoved stood back and evaluated the situation in a bit more detail.

the committe had only to decide whether or not to accept ken buchanans proposal to withdraw his birds. the committe decided to accept. an objection was lodged based on the 23 hour rule. to avoid debate and further discussion ken buchanan in a gentlemanly fashion put forward the proposal that he would withdraw his birds. this was accepted. as chris says done and dusted.

where is the bank account, who signs money in and out, in the event any money raied where does it go, is there a committee formed, president, secretary, treasurer. who are the signatories, what are the aims and objectives of the set up, who decides what policy is/ what is the administrative set up. how have the officials been put in place. in the event assets go astray who is responsible. this approach is extremely open to abuse. this in my opinion is dangerous. take some time and think it through.

so waht happens next. no conclusive study one way or other. we let the pigeon fancy continue to race hoping nothing happens. not realistic. why not face reality. pigeons are not on the big screen. not a force in the calculations. causing problems could easy be seen as wasting valuable time and resources.

anyone who takes the time to read peter bryants updates will see that he has informed defra of the situation as he sees it. he hasinormed defra belgium is an option if defra say ok. it is clear to all he is operating on behalf of rpra members in uk. i fail to see what else he can do. as i have said before there does not apear to be any involvement from any of the other pigeon organisations in the uk. if there is there is no report of it anywhere. if it were not for the time and effort put into this by rpra representatives both paid and unpaid i hate to think where we would be. it is relatively straight forward to be a couch guru. more often than not though it is not veryy constructive.
-
club secretary role and that of peter bryant completely different rose. no comparisson can be made. the rpra are doing all they can given the current situation.
-
peter bryant has no control over this it is defra. there are some peole posting here that would have us believe that defra nad their staff do not know their jobs. lets be realistic. we have to rely on the structures taht are in place. a free for all achieves nothing. peter bryant can only pass on what the ruling ministry gives him as the current situation. we are governed by british laws not german french or belgium. rolands last post clearly outlines the position. straight forward.
-
rose when do you want peter bryant to take his holidays. if there is an outbreak in january and he is not around maybe the start of racing will be affected. if there is one in may maybe no channel. the guy cannot be restricted to having holidays in october november.

Bruno why do you not raise funding to go at it your way. I am sure that the excellent husbandry and methods in the pigeon fancy will encourage the farmers who havent a clue to follow their example. DEFRA should employ you as an unidentified authority. Do you think these people vets and other experts are not as well informed as you. get real for once have a bit of humility. stop jumping on bandwagons and using peoples fears and frustration to attempt to give your self a position of authority. you are as more often than not full of yourself. the secretary of the rpra has other tasks to fulfill. i do not see any other support from other organisations being villified.

just come off the scottishpigeontrust website. update list of entrants still the meagre amount left going to the 2006 race. estimated prize is either £10000 or £20000 depending at which page you look at. No information about this years event. must be a case of we have the cash good. no dates for race or training races. site would indicate it must be an outstanding success. if the web site is a reflection of the event than god help those of you who have entered. well you pays your money. what a poor representation and exampleof scottish pigeon racing. poor poor show.

weather a wee bit dreich in glasgow at present. forecast is good and should give birds a good chance to make home.
-
the conditions up through tonight look testing but extremely favourable.

the winds are north north west. the wind is dropping and varies from 22/23 mph near the coast to 5/15 mph inland. as the birds move north and by tomorrow the wind will be more to the west but getting lighter 5/6 mph. visibility is generally in excess of 20km and as good as 50km in a good number of places. very little rain and few if any pockets of serious downpours. all is set for a good test. all the info taken from the met office site. good luck to all who are in it.
-
i think all in the race are flying 500+ miles. this with the limited daylight is likely to mean no day birds. decent returns is what is needed. the wind will make this a real tester. looks like the rain is not going to be as continual as it has been. everyone wo has sent is still the potential winner. good luck.
-
liberatated 11.30 nnw winds. will be a hard slog and take a good bit of flying. good luck to all who are taking part. weather playing a major part.

would it not be as suggested here better to wait and see what the rpra slant is on this issue. what is the desperaton to look for problems. the rpra has since the beginning of the avian flu situation been the main reliable source of information to the pigeon fancy. nothing on this matter on rpra site as yet. this would indicate to me they have not been made aware by the poweres hat be. this in turn would lead me to belive we are jumping the gun.

any news? weather much better. winds seem a bit strong.
