    WEATHER FOR 26/04/08

    kilsyth- rain heavy, poor visibility.
  2. glasgow fed postpone marking till saturday. weather permitting. with fuel situation difficult time for controllers.
  3. will all the roads south be closed to non rpra scottish fanciers?
  4. snrpc have managed pretty well so far on their own. financially sound. solid gold medal awarded to principal race winner. silver medal to other national winners. bronze to section winners. arranged up to date excellent geraldy transport. cut one day off length of stay in basket for pigeons going overseas. provides facilities for nfc saintes race. open to all scottish fanciers/lofts who are members of any recognised ruling body. surviving excellently so far. point on ypres situation. snfc passed on proposal from mayor of ypres to snrpc, after snrpc program and transport arrangements had been made for 2008. snfc passed on same information to other british organisations and got same response. as far as i know details were available since last year. put on the table in february 2008. poor communications and information transfer have meant time restrictions scuppered any chance the ypres idea would be a gb event.
  5. most things work until the hawk gets used to them. if the cds frighten the hawks why do they not frighten the pigeons? i have used cds on a compound as have other lofts. we have witnessed the sparrow-hawk passing us to take a pigeon while the whole area has had cds placed all around. nothing in my experience deteres a hungry predator.
  6. cd`s do not work. have tried and was hit. maybe playing a sydney devine or dan o`donnell one would work though.

    VELOCITY

how would it be possible for the same bird to take two positions? agree with pjc. if bird was allowed two positions would same bird be allowed two bites at the pools? i dont think so. two rubbers mean equal positon in same thimble. ets one pigeon is always registered faster than the other by a split second. clock with thimble registers time the rubbers were put through the clock system. ets records time of arrival of bird/birds. two different things.

    what distance

arras at 460 would seem like the better option if the coast is not avaiable with your fed. weather and wind will play much more of a part than birdage. jim benvie won the the shorter of the snrpc races two years ago with a yearling. stuart mullan timed a yearling and topped the west area and was well up the open result in the same race. jim benvies pigeon completed the double this year when he wonthe Gold Medal Reims race with the snrpc.

the answer does not only effect me it effects a good number of others. it is important that the original poster speaks directly for himself. the horses mouth so to speak. i am not a messenger.

gutty hen posted the original post. he was browsing here this morning so is aware of the question. the post was entered on the open forum so i would expect the the open forum is good enough for the response.

if the snfc pro will post and support what you are saying henrik then that will be the question answered. you like me cannot answer on his or the snfc behalf. it is a reasonable question. and yours is a straightfoward answer. but we need it from an official source.

i am banned under the rules of the shu for ten years. i am a member of the rpra. the secretary and senior vice president of the snfc were present at the meeting where the ten year was imposed. one as president one as a delegate. the original post was posted by the snfc pro. still the same question will people like me be allowed to compete as a pigeon fancier based in scotland. will the snfc break the rules of the shu to allow everyone t compete. will the term any recognise ruling body e suffice to enter?

i do not see any where anyone attempting to say anything against Ypres or the memory of what happened there in ww1. i do see an ill informed opportunist trying to demonise people who ask reasonable questions as to the rules of the race. the people who fought, fought for our right to ask questions. how ironic that a self appointed oracle attempts to claim the high ground by referring to sick minds. the same hypocrit then goes on to unveil his own hidden agenda in his obsessive quest against defra. the bravery and sacrifice made and shown by those who fell at Ypres on all sides has not been disrespected in any way thet i can see n this thread. the only questionable actions i would suggest are the maicious attempts to demonise people who only want to ask questions. the race by the structure of the snfc rule book will not allow members who are suspended by the shu. SNFC rule two states you must be a member of shu. also snfc route in dispute is to shu appeal as final decision maker. some scottish fanciers are suspended from shu but are members of the rpra. they will not be able to take part unless snfc break thir owm rules. the race is not therefore open to all pigeon fanciers in scotland. this is the only question that is being posted for clarification.

    snfc

i dont think asking questions is sad. there was enough commotion last year intenally with the snfc to highlight just how far things can go. as to attempting to portray any one with a sick mind IB i think you are doing your usual underhand thing once again. you seem to only be able to operate this way. can you not remember back to last year when scott gibson had his mental health put under serious threat due to a dispute within the snfc. in order to avoid a similar situation arising in this case i ask again. in the event of a dispute whose rules are to be used?

what rules will it be flown under? if there is an objection and an appeal where will appeal be heard and by which organisation?
  19. johno

    snfc

so the race will not be open to ALL pigeon fanciers in scotland then?

    snfc

the race will be flown under snfc therefore shu rules. where does that leave the people who are suspended by shu. the big four. how can a suspended member fly under shu rules. does not add up. how therefore can the race be open to all pigeon fanciers in Scotland?
  21. the starting distance seemed to be under discussion. when we start racing it is usually cold very cold. the birds often struggle to get home. at least mine do. the baskets say that many others do also. so 43 mile in teh middle of april can often be a severe task so to go any further would not be advisable at this time. most of us fly out to around 600 miles. by the end of june.
  22. must take into consideration location of loft.in scotland our temperature is around 6 degrees lower than lincolnshire or sussex. we have completely different conditions. there is even a marked difference between east of scotland and west.ask the farmers the difference in harvesting times.
  23. well whn you consider this will be the first race into scotland over 700 miles plus in recent times you are probably right vincent. also open to all.
  24. think once it is proved that birds will do it more and more will try.
  25. it will be interesting what demand is for the 700+ mile race.
