Lanarkshire Fed Race Programme Meeting
Big Davie replied to Big Davie's topic in Pigeon Politics, Rules & Regulations
Dont know if its true, but ive now heard this from three different sources. -
Joined the Blantyre club in 1967 as an 11 year old, had them ever since, 42 years ago, dont know where all that time went. My dad, grampa and two uncles also had them so ive never really known life without doos.

Homer, i think Lanark and Forth have there own agenda and it is nothing to do with the SNFC, as for the other 400, if they cant be bothered to get of their arses to attend then they couldnt have been that interested in the first place, you can only go by the majority vote of those who are interested enough to attend. Bigda it would not be the pilgrims who would baulk at £1-- 2-50 to go by ourselves it would be the vast majority of the Fed members who would go mental if they had to pay this for an inland race.I dont know what you are on about with regard Ypres it is the perfect racepoint and distance for a Fed channel race and the vast majority of the Fed membership are in favour of it, and for the pilgrims in the west sect of the SNFC it is the one race where we are possibly not disadvantaged by our location against the rest of Scotland.

Homer The majority voted to convoy with the SNFC nothing to do with self interest

Bigda im a Fed delegate and im a national minded pilgrim, i will give you guidance, there was no loss, you will find when you get your Fed balance sheet that we made a profit of approx 7000 pounds for season 2009. With regard the SNFC shafting Lanarkshire fed what you have got realise is that the 18 pounds 50 per basket that is being touted was paid with your entries via birdage and did not come out of the Fed coffers, whereas if we went alone to Huntingdon with 800 or Maidstone with 500 birds for 33p a bird then the Fed would then have to stand this loss as the costs of going ourselves could not be covered by the entry money. However having said all of the above i do think that the SNFC could cut us a bit of slack when you consider that they have been using Lanarkshires race panniers free of charge, i have spoken to Mr H about this and im sure he will take this up. Lanarkshire Race Controller
Big Davie replied to Delboy's topic in Pigeon Politics, Rules & Regulations
I have watched this whole scenario unfold since Friday without commenting, some of you guys have really short memories, three years ago when Jim was voted in as race controller he was given absolute authority at a general meeting by the members to make any decision that he seen fit with regard to race control. This was done because it was suspected that the previous controller was at times being pressurized into making decisions that were detrimental to the welfare of the birds, or do none of you remember any of this, now i see it being written on here that he should have been overuled by the Fed officials, what a load of crap, i have not spoken to Jim but having known him for forty years i know that his decision to cancel the race would have been taken with the the best interests of the birds foremost in his mind, sure he got it wrong, the birds should have been race marked, but the man who is always right does not exist, with hindsight everyone is the best race controller in the world. Personally i am sorry to see Jim go, he would have learned from this if he had stayed,we have lost a real Doo man who over the piece has given us some tremendous racing with well above average returns.Best of luck to the next guy, he will be fine until he makes a mistake. -
We all know that Jock was a bit wild and lived on the edge, but oh whit a doo man, i was at a south lanarkshire fed function once when they done a this " This is your life " on Jock, the mans performances were unbelievable, probably the best the west sect has ever seen, and there have been a few good ones, the mans a legend. Hotrod, first time ive seen you and forgot to congratulate you on your great performance from Reims last season, what a winner,Alf place looked pretty busy to me, all seats taken, i even noticed two guys eating beside the trophies because they could not get a seat at a table, got to say the after dinner speaker was not as good as the guy last year, and he never turned up!!!!!!! but i still enjoyed the night out.

First class articles by John Harwood, i enjoy his fishing tales as much as his pigeon stuff, a man after my own heart, tight lines John. Davie

I also voted to allow SNFC membership to any fancier who is a member of a recognised union, after all it was proposed by two members of the management comittee, was dissapointed that this proposal was turned over by such a large majority, ive said it before were killing the sport from the inside out. Good luck to all in 2009. Davie
-
Thanks Alan, missed most of that, i was bursting for a p*** and dying for a smoke by that time.
-
Yes they added it as part of the SNFC programme, but the commitees original proposal was for it not to be available as a duplication race.????? but i hope im wrong Fed racing finished on July 3rd suits me fine, i could then concentrate on the Falaise race and the yb,s
-
I dont think it is available at ypres either.????
-
Your 100% correct hotrod races from near the Belguim border with France or actually in Belgium wont stop the guys in the east getting them in front of you but at least fanciers situated in the west section will get overfly which they dont get from racepoints in central or western France. Davie

Looks great Gerwin, but i think it would have to be approved by the British unions before it could be used in the uk. Davie

Well said Frank, thought i was the only one who was thinking along these lines. Davie.

RWB i agree we all want the opportunity to time on the day, but early as possible means just that, its not always possible to liberate at 4:30am. I hate mid morning liberations for channel races as the guys in the south section can still time on the shift, i think if no lib by 7:00am then birds should be held until 1:00pm forcing the whole convoy to sleep out.
-
i think you are 100% right Delboy, designed to get bums on seats, but these seats will have to be filled, ive thought before that proposals have had no chance of being adopted, but ive been proved wrong. The guys from section D are sure to want it so the section E members will have to attend to stop this going through.Said it on my first post on this subject cant see a proposer and seconder on resolutions sheet. Davie

going back to this rule 13 change and the creation of a new section M which would amalgamate the current sections D and E , can anyone tell me what region this new section M would then compete in, the mind boggles. Davie
