Trust you to stick your oar in Danny with something negative, if only you would open your eyes, why not try congratulating the guys who have timed in, im sure you would feel better having done it.

Well done to Jim Meikle, East Kilbride, looks like another snfc section win to go with your previous 1st w/sect in the gold cup a few years back and a host of other top snfc performances over the last ten years or so.

Dealt with Steve Swainston for 10 years, changed over to Bamfords in January 2009, as Swainstons mixes had gone right down hill, i.e. full of blue and white peas, dari and poor quality wheat with hardly a maple to be seen, and every load you got in was mixed differently, have found Bamfords to be first class, always consistently mixed and not bulked up with cheaper grains. Frank, was talking to some of your members earlier tonight, they were telling me that you have been paying 50p per bird for the past three seasons. Anyway got some of my own figures wrong for birdage in the two lanarks clubs that i am a member of, for 2010 Blantyre 50p per bird, East Kilbride 45p per bird. Davie
-
STB, dont agree Homers saying that this was done YEARS ago but does not happen now, which is rubbish, to let you understand Lanarkshire have two transporters,no way would Lanarkshire put on a second transporter if short baskets could be filled up on one transporter, and as i said i would not expect them to. Davie
-
Homer,EXACTLY,you are not trying to tell me this still would not happen, if the Fed had for example six baskets more than one transporter could hold, and that unit had lets say 20 short baskets, the excess birds would spread about these short baskets, no way would a second transporter be laid on, and i would not expect there to be, why do you think we have to fill in a basket sheet detailing how many birds are in each numbered basket.Ive also been there and done it many times.Turn it up Alex, youve hung yourself with your own reply. Davie
-
Frank, agree with what you are saying, we all try to do something along these lines but it is not always possible, and you still have to pay for an extra 1 or 2 baskets, whats the birdage in your club. Also when the transporters meet up i would reckon that any short baskets will be identified and filled up,(im not talking about baskets with 24 birds in them) but the club has still paid for transportation of that short basket which is now going nowhere.

Robbie, you are 100% correct, but for some guys it is their mission in life to stir things up, that is where they get their jollies in the doo game.

Derek, I take on board the discrimination bit, and i dont really disagree with this, getting back to club birdage, i have always been a believer that prize money should come from birdage, one club i am a member of had no prize money last season as there was not enough funds coming from birdage to cover any prize money, in the other club i am in we pay £1:00 on our entry sheet every week to provide prize money, with regard the short baskets i mentioned in my last post lets say the fed charge the club £21:00 for the 2 baskets which have 6 cocks and and 6 hens in each basket at say 50p per bird, total income of £6:00 for the 12 birds, which leaves a shortfall of £15:00 that still has to be paid to the Fed. No matter how you look at it this £15:00 shortfall has to be covered from birdage, so how much is each club member then actually paying for each bird entered, a lot more than 38p a bird i can assure you. This charge per basket was introduced when a proposal to only have 24 birds in each basket was adopted, it was then decided that clubs should set ther own birdage with a min of 24 and a max of 28 birds in each basket, to combat spiralling costs clubs now put 28 in every basket so we are back to square 1, and to prevent having to pay for any short baskets there are regularly in excess of 30 birds in a basket especially at the shorter races, result Fed are guaranteed their money and the clubs are being stung, the sooner we go back to the Fed setting and charging a fixed amount per bird the better.

someone with a bit of vision, my own sentiments exactly. Davie

John I am a member of 2 clubs in Lanarkshire, birdage in one is 40p in the other 45p and only beaten by one vote at club agm to be 50p, as you know your birdage was set by lanarks Fed at 55p with your entries being through LSC of which we are both members, i dont get the we are being charged 40% more that you are claiming. If my memory is correct clubs are now charged £10:50 per basket for a minimum of 24 and a max of 28 birds, but if you have 2 short baskets with say 6 birds in each you still have to pay £21:00 pounds to convoy 6 cocks and six hens, result being clubs now have to budget and set their birdage to cover this potential loss, and if they are not then they are on the road to financial ruin. Danny,it has got nothing to do with nat minded councillors at the shu appeal meeting, a democratic vote to go with the SNFC was taken and won at Lanarkshire Feds race programme agm. Because someone then decided that they did not agree with this majority they then took this to an shu appeal meeting where they lost again, meaning that democracy was the winner in both instances. Aye with a west sect fancier 2nd open, D&M Donaldson of Glassford.
-
Bigda you need to read this post, the SNFC did not tie up with the UNC to convoy to Ypres, they went on their own, with regard race controlling and lib times, the race is run under the dictates of the SNFC, it is their race and they have the final say on when all of the convoy will be liberated which includes not only Lanarkshires, but other federation birds as well. Danny, i agree that the SNFC should have paid a hirers fee for the use of the Fed baskets. Going back to the figures earlier, even if the Fed paid out no prize money, the income would have still only only been £448 at £28 per basket with only 400 birds entered a massive loss would still have been realised, think about the costs of going alone, convoyers wages, feeding, haulage, ferry crossings etc, etc, we were lucky to get away with a £3K loss.
-
Danny lets say we went alone at £28 per basket, with say 25 birds in each basket and 400 birds entered. That equates to to 16 baskets x £28 = Total income of £ 448 to cover £3k prize money plus haulage, convoyers etc, etc, the figures dont add up and as i said earlier the loss to the fed would have been far greater than this £3k that is being touted. Davie

Danny weve been here before, even if we had gone on our own we would still have had an outlay of £3000 prize money, plus convoying costs etc etc, with an entry of only 400 birds or loss would have been even greater. To cover the cost of going alone and the 3k prize money the birdage would have to been somewhere in the region of £10 per bird which is ridiculous.I keep hearing about this £3K loss which is correct, but if we had not gone with the SNFC this loss could have almost doubled, or am i missing something.
