Wattie, having read your previous article on this subject I found it very interesting and certainly food for thought, I also find your comments on this thread interesting but have to agree with hotrod on his point of old birds being sick in the basket as I have also seen this many times at race marking in my 45 plus years of keeping pigeons and seen it long before we had ever heard of paramyxovirus or adenovirus. Whilst I understand your concerns I think their is a big difference between a healthy bird throwing up food in the basket and bird that is actually ill doing the same, it comes down to observation on the decent fanciers part who should keep any dubious birds at home but as we all know not everyone will do this and their are also many who would not know the difference.

Franny, I know that but when I spoke to the driver this morning he said he was only going to Elsrickle as instructed by Gareth, there was 5 of us present and were all told the same thing

Bill, when I put the birds on the transporter at Blantyre today driver said he was only going to Elsrickle with no toss from Meldons, my birds were 30 mins later arriving than last week .?? Can someone confirm where Lanarkshire birds were tossed this morning

Buy a big tin of axle grease and slobber it on the top of all your fences and gates and possible access points where they could climb in, i was getting some problems and that's what i did with no problems now for over a year ( touch wood ) if they are youngsters or youths it takes some explaining why their good and expensive gear is covered in grease when they get home to their parents, but got to make your normal entry point as secure as possible so they can't wrench the lock easily.

Rab, your post IMO perfectly sums up how the meeting went, their was no need for the slide show at the end as the members had read and new what the proposal was all about, personally I found the Presidents intimation that the members did not understand the difference between a section and a region derogatory and a insult on our intelligence
