What Type Of Lime For Deep Litter... Floor Dressing
R.A.M.C.63 replied to ghostrider's topic in Notice Board
Hi ghostrider here is my understanding of it, if u cean loft out and throw it on floor brush it in whatever, birds stirrin it into air not good to breath in. but if deep litter of ( droppings ) is being used perches boxes scraped on to floor, lime is scattered on top of droppings too DRY out any damp patches, lime seems to lik Moisture this why its not good too be in the air breathing in or getting in ur,s and pigeons eyes, mice dont lik walking on it gets in thier fur eyes, u find them dead and rotten away, getting back to deep litter every time u clean loft you just add bit more lime on droppings, eventully you will hav Dry Deep Litter any wet droppings cocci worms wont survive in Lime Saturated litter, you take odd bag of litter now and again if builds up, the Lime is attracted to damp so its not being thrown in air, so no set amount to use just keep ur deep litter Dry, hope this helps mate, Jmo Hi ghostrider here is my understanding of it, if u cean loft out and throw it on floor brush it in whatever, birds stirrin it into air not good to breath in. but if deep litter of ( droppings ) is being used perches boxes scraped on to floor, lime is scattered on top of droppings too DRY out any damp patches, lime seems to lik Moisture this why its not good too be in the air breathing in or getting in ur,s and pigeons eyes, mice dont lik walking on it gets in thier fur eyes, u find them dead and rotten away, getting back to deep litter every time u clean loft you just add bit more lime on droppings, eventully you will hav Dry Deep Litter any wet droppings cocci worms wont survive in Lime Saturated litter, you take odd bag of litter now and again if builds up, the Lime is attracted to damp so its not being thrown in air, so no set amount to use just keep ur deep litter Dry, hope this helps mate, Jmo -

Sorry Mate and well done on ur first go at Nat, my reply to peters post isn,t aimed at anybody, and dont wont to belittle anybodys success, u can only compete against the entry, well done ForestForever74 and hope u do well cross water, ATB Ronnie

How do u work that oot peter ?? does nobody west of fraserburgh keep doo,s, every week our birds dog leg west, an God knows how boys NORTH o inverness keeps doo,s. reading some of these posts suggests fanciers central belt are in another world, think if they came up here and flew thier doo.s they wouldn.t last 2 seasons. inland Nat 230miles ????? we fly we,r Y/Bs 240mls. and i think i would rather hav a club ticket fa hastings 495miles than NAT ticket fa 240 mile, After all there are more middle distance birds than thier are Distance, jmo peter, and i wish everybody and the birds the best for every race, ATB Ronnie,
