  3. Indeed a great post, As a young, very inteligent young boy, Richard Sanderson, had the brains and forward thinking, to create this wonderfull pigeon forum, "pigeon basics", in which we all should be very gratefull for, which im sure most of the members are, As the years have passed , Richard has now become an intelligent and forward thinking young man, this young man,s forward thinking, has now led him, to have plans in marriage to the lovely Gemma, which im sure we all wish both of them, much happyness Through these years , richard, gemma, and all past and present mods, have put in many hours, and many sleepless nights [often unseen, and often un-thanked] to help build this wonderfull forum, Richard and Gemma have had the most difficult job in trying to be fair to all , which is a near impossible task, yet they have dedicated their time,in all these years, to strive for fairness and for the betterment of this forum . for this ,I for one, am eternally gratefull to richard and" pigeon basics" Also, for all the new friends ive made, all the lost old friends , in re-kindled friendships, etc, so in just a few small words ,WELL DONE, AND A GREAT BIG THANKYOU TO RICHARD AND GEMMA MAY GOD BLESS BOTH OF YOU

  8. i thiught you were the irishman gladdo ;D ;D ;D not being funny but wot a joke ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D thats a good one ;D ;D ;D ;D your 9 cocks came great gladdo, good luck next week, mate

  11. i think" adams boy" belonging to the late great jack adams was a white [i could be wrong ]
  12. i do not [in my opinion] find this anyway to talk to novices,, far better [in my opinion] explain yourself,,,as i have done
  13. simply because i have prooved this for myself ,, and only my opinion birds hammered in early season ,i,e training, along with racing, will not hold form for the bigger, longer races. without proper rest, you wont get proper exercise,,my opinion rest is just as important as excercise
  14. maybe another wee tip for keen novices,, dont be too keen never toss a bird , for at least 5 days after a race, without proper rest,, you wont get proper excercise,, one as important as the other,, p,s your birds will last longer through the season
  15. with racing here for some, ,and fast approaching for others, may i remember members , we have a race day topic on the "racing pigeons" thread good luck to all

  17. one of the best cocks i owned was a bird came home [from a yb] the following year,[three weeks b4 first race] , black,, could even tell it had white flights,,, even that year,,,excelled himself, qoute,,,,," if a pigeon is lost for a long period, like a month or a year,,,,treat it like gold,, anyone who has ever had a pigeon live in the wild and then return home , usualy has a champion on their hands,, nurse it , watch the vitality it has, and the possessiveness it displays" unqoute allthough i was told at the time to get rid of this bird,,, im so glad i didnt,,, it was a good one a very good one

  19. when rearing yb,s they must have perfect start in life , any missed feeds will stunt a yb, i put babies milk in their water , a teaspoon full [roughly], the growth rate of yb,s in, say, 21 days is is very fast indeed , for this growth rate , they need plenty protein feeding in clean galley pots , in front of them most times of the day the adults need as much clean grit, minerals , pickstones as they can take
  20. salmonella can be a drastic problem with pigeons , to aid in this, cider vinegar ,a tablespoon to the drinker, can help keep the salmonella count drop. cider vinegar also has many trace minerals in it
  21. anyone use rice? rice is full of carboheydrates, and is the only grain [as far as i know ] that contains all 8 essential amino acids. rice can also firm up droppings
  22. theres as many fishermen caught 10= 10 pound trout in one day ;D ;D ;D,,,,,as pigeon men have topped the fed ,,,,,,after a few pints ;D ;D ;D
  23. any bent flights ,,hold over steaming kettle , they,ll straighten right away :) [if left the will usually break]
