just been reading the inputs,,most are very interesting indeed, very good inputs by old yellow and jack barkell , and some others,, at least if their in single pens , there seems no doubt there,, d n a no doubt again, but very expensive, very interesting indeed by jack barkell, you can tell by the eye , whose not, the father , but not who is the father,, all very interesting stuff indeed thanks all for your inputs
the air is still circulating [if the ventilation is right] just like when theres a wind or breeze and you open the windows in your living room, both front and back , if you have that :)you will see papers etc , blowing,, but when calm, and the same open windows in the living room, no blowing of papers about,, but youll still see any ciggy smoke going out the window,, same with the loft,, the stale air is still going out
see what the east wind brings blaz,,,,,mist off the coast :)and it can come in,, in minutes,,,
when the wind is in the east its neither good to man nor beast,, not worth taking the chance,, theres a long season to go
dont think theres much in this at all,,,,,but remember" king jack" jack adams talking about the pinkies,,
i just like seeing plenty down, on the wee ones, and plenty life in them,, and not a squeek unless their being fed,,and solid droppings,,
no wonder their away at that price , cracking yb,s somebody,s got a bargain ,, full ,marks Kirky for giving them at that price,, good luck to the new owner
best of luck kwango,, seems a wee change on,, in the weather,,, rain comming in overnight,, but could well be ok for your race,,looks like the wind is changing to west ,, hope all goes well for you
i have usualy found the best birds are bred from younger stock,no doubt about that, ,,,but, in saying that, , ive a one off,,,, an old hen off sir colin bred winners allmost every year,, shes now eleven she bred a maidstone winner at 8 year old for one fancier,, another at 9 years old, for a different fanciers,,, and many other birds to win ,,,, a brother to it has bred nowt ;D[or very little anyway ;D]
does this hen fly out?? if not,, could be fat ,, , could be, between that, and change of loft,, or both,,
sometimes, quicker in the end,, seperating for a week, ,,feed lightly ,,depurative, with wheatgerm oil, , with a little hemp,, keep on its own.. then try it back with the cock,, hope your lucky
it was very bad fog here this morning,,,,, after a brilliant day, yesterday,,,,,,,,,,,, just goes to show ,, the old adage,, when the wind is in the east,,its neither good for man nor beast,,, not training weather
because worming takes a little out of the pigeon, therefore not really fit to train,,or feed yb,s ,,, it,ll take more out the yb,s in the nest, the yb,s droppings would become loose,, and even one set back in rearing yb,s can result in a imperfect young bird
sorry you seem to have had bother in reporting this stray, i would say this was a one off thing that has happened , so i wouldnt be dismayed,, i dont think its fair to say the owner wouldnt want it back, as it was not wing stamped, there could be a few reasons for that,,,among some reasons, the bird could well have been missing for some time and possibly moulted the stamped flight,,, it may have just been better/quicker ,,, putting the ring number on this forum,,,,on the" lost" column,,,

hope this helps
if it were me, i would use a sealed water butt [a 5 gall drum ] with some aquas iodine added , i think the 20 birds would be fine if the neigbour changed it each day,,
, milton would also purify the water [see directions on the milton bottle i.e water for campers etc] this would only act to purify the water , to begin with,, but would be ok if kept sealed and out of sun light,,,,,,,, enjoy your holiday , the birds will be ok ;D
most of the above will cure this depluming mite, even household fly spray [this contains permethrin] ,, the problem is ,, its not untill they moult that you know your rid of them, the old fashioned way was ,as clocky says , the old carbolic soap, this certainly does the trick rubbing the lather into their skin of the breast, a few times ,,,,,but as o,y says ,, the loft needs fumigated,,,,,one way is with a blow torch , to stop any re-infection
