  4. Hi hope you try and do well. Over the years I have tried different methods be it no racing as Ybs to sending them to all the YB races right through tot he YB national at nearly 300 miles. I have sent them to their first ever race 300 miles as YBs and got them too. I never start them too early as old birds picking a week end the beginning of May. Then they can go every week or just two races inland then channel. I have sent them two 400 miles races them 660 miles all as yearlings. The only thing I can say is do not over train them before the race itself or flag them too much on the build up to the race you are calling a distance event. Do not under feed them either. I think it is SIMPLES really. not really. The best advise is to get the right birds them send them. MJB
  5. 16 or 17 back well done the birds. A hard race for sure MJB
  6. well done for entering and this topic which I like to read every year. MJB
  7. Try Stu Goldstraw this weeks homing world a very good distance flyer. Only £30 each MJB
  8. red red grizzle cocks blue blue grizzle hens MJB
  9. you will only breed choclates if both carry the recessive choco colour. I have been told pairing red to blue grizzle has the benefit of breeding nearly white birds but not all of them. MJB
  10. most likely opals. these are recessive gene but without pictures i am really unable to say for sure MJB
  11. all blue sky and sun at 0820hrs Stoke On Trent which is 9 miles north of Uttoxeter. Good luck MJB
  12. I am 9 miles north of Uttoxeter, 99 100 % cloud cover very little wind to mention. atb everyone MJB are they on the race course?
  13. Hi I have asked this question on another site only to receive no responses. am after any copy of any of Alwyn Hills sales list of birds? If you have the pigeon papers last year please PM me? thank you for looking MJB
  14. I am not surprised they had a stinker of a race. Many of the birds either hit the bushes or ended up in the grass. Most had to go from zero to full pelt to get airbourne or hit the branches. Not a very good liberation at all. Having said that well done the winners. Mjb
  15. I started with about 60 which many were late breds and yearlings. Down to 11 cocks all yearlings except one two year old late bred. Same with the hens except all yearlings and late breds. Still got one more race to go next week 500 miles in the Fed. 9 or 10 of the cocks going most likely. So will loose even more after next week end. Lost my good hen Darcey 2nd sec 10 plus hours on wing yb NFC then 3rd sec NFC. Was coming well but lost her at Cholet. Lost all my two year olds who have scored also. A funny year for pigeon racing altogether. Mjb
  16. Saturday 5th July. We are informed that there will be no liberation this morning. We shall update this message early afternoon. NFC Tarbes
  17. Ebay MJB
  18. If you say only small holes due to talons and a lost tail which has returned I would send him. No training too late now to get him fit but if your wife or friend is going anywhere even one mile take him single up just to get him used to it again. 130 is nothing in distance wise. MJB
  19. I think he needs training at least once and someone at home to see how he arrives. He may be carrying an unseen injury which if sent 130 miles from the top of the loft could be the end of him. If he is uninjured I think as long as he has had some sort of racing and the weather for Saturday is OK he should be OK if sent from the top of the shed. Also it is nearly the end of the old bird season is he worth keeping until next year? If so why not just keep him home. MJB
  20. J Ellis Wellbank 15:32 top flying well done MJB
