  1. 308 birds marked good luck everyone who still has any birds left. Just for interest anyone know the address of the loft? While I understand most taxi drivers know it’s location I am finding it hard to find. Mjb
  2. Thanks. Mjb
  3. What day is the race? Been hot here today. Mjb
  4. I am in Tenerife this week so may go over. The weather however is poor with a lot of rain today and forecast later in the week let’s hope it clears up and they have a good race. Mjb
  5. Hi yes I do but you may have trouble getting a hold of him. I have to drive up to the farm in order to speak with him most of the time as he never answers the telephone. I will ask him if I can give you his number but if you have any questions I can assist with ask away in pm if you wish. Mjb
  6. Thanks for the replies. I have spoken with the man who gave them to me after I posted this topic. He said he had them from a fancier who recently died similar name to McKie or something. He said this man purchased these birds before the sale of John ellis was not in the pipeline. MJB
  7. I have been fortunate enough to be given 5 birds which I am informed are bred by or from Mr Ellis's birds. I will list the ring numbers shortly. My question is this does anyone have a copy of the clearance sale? I have already tried the old link but the list has been removed. Thanks in advance of looking or the list. 8. I had my hens out lunch time. Was cleaning them out walked up to put the bag of muck in the bin when I got back no birds on the loft roof. Walked down towards the loft and up it sprung sparrow hawk hen and a hen got up. I shouted it went I caught the hen and put her into the loft. I thought I was lucky but then saw a trickle of blood running down from her. She did not come down for any food. I am hoping she will be fine in the morning. First real strike in two years. MJB
  9. This little pigeon is being cared fro by ex fancier Jim Kane. He fed it for a few days and liberated her only for it to return back to him. He could catch her if it is one of yours and would like her back but will try to get her ready to try to get back home, MJB
  10. I caught this hen last week and she is safe and well in my aviary. If it is yours let me know what you want me to do?? MJB Stoke on Trent
  11. I have never had so many injured which is down to BOP. Flights missing tail feathers missing body feathers missing and my best two birds from the previous two years missing. MJB
  12. Afternoon
  13. I am struggling to up load the pedigree. The 3rd bird is bred from the hen S00124 who is related to what Jock described as his best stock pair. The best stock pair contain amongst others Eric Fox blood lines. MJB
  14. Well I sent my birds to this race all 20 of them many being yearlings. I had 3 quick ones last night which was a great feeling. A further 2 at 0700am this morning. Well the day was not the best day for racing birds because the winds were easterly either SE ENE or NE however it was warm. The three I timed I have printed the pedigrees below. One cock is bred down through a bird John Jock Ellis sent me down just before he died.
  15. Nice picture and bird mjb

  17. 3rd bird home from 28 sent and won 3rd club. MJB
  18. She was only loft flown during the winter months and was allowed to rear a young bird in march April before being separated but paired to another hen later in the year and was sitting about 10 days on basketting for this race. She was trained about two weeks before her first race in the middle of April. Then sent with over 100 other birds when she came home within the first 5 birds for about 6 inland races. Then sent to the Fed water race about 322 mile, two weeks later Messac BBC 389 miles which was a hard race and she returned during the week. Then some private training with one inland race one toss at 95 miles then into this last race. Once she returned I took pictures of her and realised she had not molted any flights and some body feathers so she has her nest feathers still. I only sent her because the man who bred her from an Eddie Janssen cock paired to one of my hens said send her. Her dam was off an Alwyn Hill cock who was paired to a dtr ( a gift egg) of 6 times Tarbes 660 miles who won the certificate of merit this year after flying this race 6 times winning 3 top 200 open positions. So she is being paired to her great uncle who is half brother to the merit award winner for some late breds for stock. MJB
  19. This little hen amazed me on Saturday because she was entered in the Fed race from Saintes 508 miles and landed after 14 hrs 40 mins flying time on the day. What is more amazing is she was weaned on the 6th August 2016. MJB
  20. This little bird landed on my loft in the dark last night then flew into the trees where it remained all night. It looked very tired and hungry this morning and entered my loft. What race was it in and more importantly is it your bird? MJB
  21. Hi I used to train late breds for the last few years but weaned one Oct 2016. He never saw a basket until yearling stage then 6 tosses then the first race of 100 miles. He was my 6th bird out of 70 sent. So I have decided not to train again until either yearlings or two years old. I had a hen which never went into the basket until 2 years old she is still here atb MJB PS dont rush them is all I can say.
  22. Glad to hear it all the best 2017. MJB
  23. Horrific. Mjb
