  5. good luck today ant, i have'nt sent hopefully next week.
  6. myself and pompeyw swapped yesterday, i'm happy with the birds i got and enjoyed the time i stayed with his father chatting about birds.
  7. hi, breed+wean is ok to feed. when you put the feed in, put it down couple of handfuls at a time, when they stop feeding they've had enough. what may be happening with you is they still have feed left the next morning and are eating that so not so hungry to come in when you want that day. when you say they're not interested to learn to trap what do you mean? how do they get back into the loft if they don't trap.
  8. we do our's a week before training starts. the reason why i do then is, they're over the stress of being weaned over and going out for the first time .
  9. west wales se at hullavington up at 8-50
  10. if there's nothing soiling the water i just top them up,otherwise i put fresh in although i don't clean the drinker just empty it.
  11. when i first started in pigeons(2004 yb's) i bought 4 performance busschaerts(2 cocks/2 hens no pedigrees) and 2 jan ardens(cock+hen g,g-children of champions) from louella all six have bred multiple winner's or prizewinner's. i crossed all six of them.
  12. hi xigeon, we use a product called aviform ultimate it contains a number of things including - multi vits, water sanitizer, etc. we use this product 3/4 times a week. when we're in the racing season we feed a diet that's quite high in carbs but as we get towards basketing night we give a high fat seed mix. there will also have access to seeds which are high in protien if they want them. to get them ready for a race- we keep the cocks(males) and hens(females) seperate through the week and on basketing night we let them see their mates for a short period to increase their motivation to get home as quick as they can.(when they return from a race they get to spend some time with their mate and they quickly learn this). on race days i can't wait normally, as soon as i wake up i'm thinking about it, first off checking the weather, then phoning lib line to see what news there is at the lib site. then i get all the other birds fed off out the way. put fesh food and water ready for the birds due to return, check the clocks still working ok, then put it in the loft ready. i'll work out what time i think they'll be back and have their mates waiting for them when they get back. i've still normally got hours to go after doing this so then it's smoking like a trooper drinking coffee like it's going out of fashion and pacing back and fore the garden whatching everything that fly's. hope this helps.
  13. if had busschaerts and jan ardens(ardens/wegan/kuyper bros/van geels) and they produced lots of winner's and prizewinner's.
  14. terrible news, hope you can catch/find out who done it.
  15. good luck to you both, and go easy on dave , amanda. lol best of luck to you both.
  16. we keep our's on dry droppings and i sprinkle loft treatment on as well, as long as they're kept dry i don't think it will harm the birds. we never had yb sickness or sickness in old birds . i've never propely cleaned a drinker since i started, if there's any residue build up in the drinker i use my hand to clean it with what ever water's left in it empty that out then i put fresh water in. we're building towards natural immunity for birds who fly the longer races.
  17. she got me on the first 2 but i had her on the third.lol
  18. i'm not sure but i'll tell you about something i saw on a film at that arifical insemination centre(bifs) he gives a hen some sperm then when she's layed the first egg he gives her sperm from a diffrent cock and when the eggs hatch the second egg is off the new father's sperm he injected into her after laying the first egg(they use dna to prove it). so to me this says as long as the hens been tread at least 2 days before laying the young cock could be the sire.
  19. what you should also remember is the more you use antibiotics the less effective they become, and you will be chipping away at your birds immunity until the day comes when they don't have a strong enough immunity to fight off any illness.
  20. our's is 11th april from wincanton 80 mls

  25. there's a couple of pipes going in to and out of the rad. have a look around the rad for any rusty looking stains and any pipes coming off the rad. or if any of the pipes are rubbing against anything.
