  1. hi wiley, do you think the feeding may have something to do it, tradionally people fed a heavier mix in those days so birds would be carring more body(making them slower) but if they made a mistake they still had plenty in reserve to get home, were as today's diets are very light and the birds are not carring the body weight as birds of yesteryear used to and if something goes wrong there's no reserves in the tank, hence the birds go down.
  2. i'd go along with that patty bhoy.
  3. we've brought in a couple of distance birds to try-a hen from wilf reed,a half brother of top gun reybroeck+sons, a dbl g-dtr of de vale barcelona from louella,a dtr of bessee stan biss a cock from mark gilberts birds and a g-dtr tuff nut+classic lad b denny.
  4. i think they've been paired and are split to race. (i'm not 100% sure on that though)
  5. hi paul, i'm glad you like her, lets hope she don't let us down now. all the best for the season. adrian.
  6. we've 1 in the yearling race.
  7. why would you go to the trouble of breaking a bad bird.
  8. The only thing that is different between a sprinter and distance pigeon is endurance!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i don't want to pick an argument or anything but your first reply you state sprinter have a heightened homing ability and then 2 mins later you say there's no difference between homing ability.
  9. our's are just hatching out.
  10. for a club to knock back member's is bad, for a national club to knock back member's is a disgrace.
  11. well done ireland.
  12. midlands national fc .report to rpra 01452 713529.
  13. hi tiamanfia, we are member's of both also and fly with both organisations .
  14. a dry loft i think is the most important part with good ventilation for the number of birds in it.
  15. when you say you line breed what do you mean, to me line bred is father as a son,who as a son, who as a son and so on, same line. any cock and hen paired together have a relationship to one and other(do you mean they are related). you say strains that means nothing to me, just some guys name, that particular bloke could have birds from here, there and everywhere and most on the continent do.
  16. if i'm bringing in stock, it's the bloodlines i go for-children,g-children or inbred to a particular top performance bird and cross them with similar birds from diffrent lines. then it's all down to performance on the road.
  17. if they were unhurt at the time, they certainly would have been when they got home.
  18. strains/family names don't mean a thing, it all down to the fancier's who race them, whatever strain/family a top fancier fly's they'll be the best birds in the area.
  19. do you know what your distances from pau/tarbes is
  20. it's 335miles 327 yards for me i never would have thought i'm flying further you.
  21. looking well, good luck.
  22. it must be further than that for you phil, it's 335 to me here.i would have thought it's over 350 for you.
  23. sorry, i thought you ment young uns. i would'nt worry about old birds raking off, so long as they fly their alloted time that's ok by me.
  24. they won't go off raking until they're ready, if they're young they're building their strength and confidence around the loft first.
  25. it's not much better here unfortunatly.
