if you train the cocks on their own and have their hens waiting for them when they get back hopefully they'll trap a bit quicker for you. it's a treat for them to get their mate, our's only have a couple of tosses at the begining of the season so most of the time through the season they only see their mate on race days and if it's an easy race not for long, so they want to get in as quick as they can for some loving.
  6. what they charge for delivery? and i'll have the number if you got it to hand thanks. anyone tried bamfords fast+fancy?.

i think you'll be enjoy it, the birds fly a lot better around the loft. hens will fly like a kit of young birds off ranging, cocks will be clapping and showing off everywhere.

yes all year it's called roundabout, when the cocks are out flying the hens are locked into the sections with the boxes, when the cocks come in they trap into the corridor and are ushered into a section on the end of the shed were the hens are normally kept. then the hens go out and the cocks are brought back into the sections were the boxes are, and are locked in, when the hens come in they trap back into the corridor and are ushered into the section on the end of the shed.

we fly our sexes seperate, so there's only one sex out at a time(when we open the shed to allow the birds in they all want to get in straight away because they know they're mate is in the shed) . when we train old birds only one sex is taken at a time and trap back to they're mates .

our old birds trap because they know they're mate is waiting for them, youngster's will trap for food if they get to know when they come in they get fed they should trap ok. if your on about getting the birds down on the loft as soon as possible, as mentioned a dropper would help.
  11. our's get bamfords breed+wean and gerry plus

  17. if i could pick up good quality corn locally from a farm i would mix my own, i'll have to start looking i think.
  18. got a bag of gerry plus this morning cost me £13-50.
  19. we're going to be putting the new yb loft up, got the base down already and it's one of those bolt together ones so should'nt take to long, hopefully we'll have it up by the time the rugby comes on. then just be potching about the garden all weekend.
  20. the white/grizzle looks like it's watching a hawk or something, is that a double headed pigeon in front of the white un. lol
  21. could well be, by us here,if your out the back looking you'll see one every 10 mins around the village. i keep an eye on mine when they're out, when they're flying no problem it's only when they're picking about the garden you gotta watch out. so don't leave them hang about garden.
  22. try letting them out at diffrent times, if the hawk attacked them in the morning don't put them out in the morning for a week or so as it will come back same time for a look. try not to leave them hanging about outside all day.
  23. i've only ever seen one before, i put it down to a freak of nature. for some reason the eggs missing out on the hardening process. maybe were the eggs attached inside the hen, there's some kind of problem and she's dropping the egg before finished forming. i'm only guessing sorry.
  24. i know it's only mentioning what's already been said but i was very pleased with the service of these guys(and gals) today, phoned them up around 1 o'clock to have 2 youngster's picked up in leicester and not only could they pick them up at such short notice but dropped off this evening at 7-30 in swansea, and for 25 quid . brilliant service.
  25. how many flights is each bird losing, what's he feeding them . is there any chance they're moulting them cause the lofts dark(i don't use dark system but heared yb's start dropping feather's straight away on it).
