  1. i was 1 felt short last year, when i went to buy more they had them black ones, i bought a pack and used just the 1 for the pair that was short. i heared a few rumors about them but thought it was nothing, the yb's hatched out ok but both dead within 2/3 days, no other problems with any of the other birds, i took that felt out straight away and give them a cardboard bowl and tobacco stalks for the next nest and no problems, so i think it was those felts.

  3. nice story, just shows a young bird who's behind won't always be a bad un. reminds me of a cock i bred in 05 always about half hour behind every young bird race, but he's won from picauville and tarbes as an old bird.
  4. joe , do you know it all?
  5. your saying now winning as nothing to do with it but earlier in the thread you was saying you needed so many wins to give advice.
  6. not everthing's about winning, how would settling young birds have anything to do with winning , giving the right types of food for resting, breeding. building a loft, buying a clock. ps we fly as boulter bros this year ,was boulter bros+kelly and i have flown under my own name adrian boulter, also dillwyn lofts in one loft races we enter, i've got nothing to hide behind.
  7. to many if's and but's i think. look how many diffrent systems people are flying some like young uns ,some like old ,natural, w/hood,roundabout. and it also gives the impression that people giving advice know it all, which will never be the case. how many times have you heared fancier's say the learning new things all the time. you yourself(joe) ststed you don't fly anymore so you would have no input on anything racing.
  8. i don't know off the top of my head, but i started in 2004 i remember it was 10 old bird races last year.
  9. how many races do you think should be won to able able to give creditable advice? some people are flying in clubs against top flyers, but in other clubs they'd be winning everyweek would you not allow them to offer advice.
  10. we jab 2 weeks before yb racing and it has not been a problem for us, my belief is when they first weaned over it's a stressful time and they have'nt build up the loft resistance also when they first go out can be a stressful time as when you start training. by doing them later i know that a lot of the stress is gone and the birds will be that much hardier . we've never had a problem with sickness and the birds do perform well.
  11. say you jab your yb's 2 weeks before the first race would they need to have another jab at the start of the ob season or would they be covered up until the date you jabbed them the year before.
  12. i aint got a wife so i'm ok on that front, and i'm like ba (from the a team) to get on a plane.lol
  13. what if you was the person who gave the bird to somebody else and you was contacted to pick the bird up because it got lost. that makes sense to you does it, you must have a diffrent sense to me.lol
  14. how'd you think the guy who gave him the bird would feel if he was held responsible to collect it. talk sense or don't bother saying anything.
  15. my old man had them through the eighties, i use to go with him down the club on basketing nights, but he gave them up when my mother died in 91. i don't really now what got me started i was out the back chatting with the old guy who use to live by me one day and i just said to him im going to get some pigeons(must have been in the back of my mind all those years) i've had them since 2004 and love it. my brother also helps me although he's not as keen as me, he likes coming to the club most i think(for the beer) .
  16. hi,i'm not having a go at you, why do you need to treat so often for canker?(before pairing, whilst on eggs and every 3 weeks in season) . what would happen to your birds if you did'nt treat for canker? and have you had any problems with sickness ?
  17. when youngster's are first going out we allow them to go on the roofs locally because they get a better look at the surroundings, but when they are flying propely we stop them landing on the roof by throwing things at them, but as soon as they land on the loft we give some red band to them above the traps and we do this every time the youngster's go out . they soon learn that it's better to land on the loft.
  18. if sire is red i think red youngster's will be hens
  19. i read somewhere they were 80/1 outsider's before it started, if only i had put a few bob on them.
