    Panic

they may have jusy got in with somebody else's birds, how did the birds look when they returned(were they edgy/looking frightened) the fact you got them all back ok says to me they may have been with somebody else's birds, it will do them good if that was the case as it's teaching them to brake from other birds.
  2. one of the best pigeons i've had was a late bred, only flown round the loft in his year of birth, had 6 races to 150 mls as yearling(taking his first card in the last race of the season), then scored in 4 national races as a 2 year old. lost on a training toss 3 weeks ago at 5 yr old, been to liege on the southeast route and tarbes on the south.
  3. nice to meet you also chris, maybe next time you can buy us a cuppa.lol
  4. what's the odds of 3 of your pigeons staying on the transporter, i don't think so. my mate had a stinker of a race on friday also and he had 2 drop together after 3 days. for some reason(and i think it was to do with the earthquake) the birds could'nt home and i think a lot of the birds stayed in the area until conditions improved enough for them to home.
  5. some boys round here had a dodgy race from littlehampton last friday also, there was an earthquake in wales on friday also(i think this was the cause) also the welsh boys who went friday from newbury had a disaster of a race.
  6. no, of course not
  7. denny you've got to make the birds feel safe on the loft and stop them landing on the houses. how i do this is, when they are on the loft i give them some red band(not a lot just a handful or two) everytime they land on the loft i give a little redband above the trap, this makes them feel safe on the loft roof. when they land on the house that's ok when they're first going out because they can get a good look around before flying , but after a few times of going out it must be stopped. keep your red band in a tin and use the same one everytime you go down the garden, i give mine red band nearly everyday(not a lot) but they know what it is soon as they see the tin, any that are on the roof ,shack the tin and call them, the same you do as you feed them, if they hungry they should come down to you.
  8. when you say 12 miles off coast do you mean out to sea.
  9. hi strap, well done to your mate but should'nt you call it the newbury smash everyone would know which newbury then.
  10. i've always gone down the route of leaving the droppings on the floor of the yb loft and have had no problems, this year i've had yb's from 8 diffrent lofts but not a single problem with any of them. recently i've seen 2 dvd's from continental lofts who've won the barcelona international and they have the same system, also mark gilbert's youngster's are kept on their droppings and there's not many better than him.
  11. did you get those young uns back this morning? i think it was a crazy idea, i don't mind going if there's shower's but thunder/lightening & torrential rain that's asking for trouble, not just in their ability to fly in that weather but things like that will also increase the stress levels in the birds and could bring on some form of illness/sickness which i think are contected to stress, i'd keep an eye on the birds for the next few days just in case.
  12. if you train your birds from were you want them to brake before hand, first of all in batches then single ups ,this will give them a line and confidence. after you've done this you'll also need to train with the club/other member's so your birds learn to brake away from other pigeons. once this as been done it should help. remember it's the leading birds which determine what line they take, so your birds have to be in top notch condition as well.
  13. would you be able to meet someone on friday, and can you pm me your address.
  14. not sure chris, i'll send him a pm, he'll pay you the carriage for it.
  15. if i drop some young uns up to you, will you be able to drop them off for racer in cheshire?.
  16. strays are funny things, i remember getting one a couple of years ago,it arrived with one of mine from a race at newbury. i phoned the owner up and he sent for the bird straight away(picked up monday morning), the next week while out in the garden waiting for the birds, that same bird which had been sent to another race came straight back here. i could'nt believe it, she'd only been to the loft once in her life and had only been here for a day and a half , yet she homed straight back here. she must have liked it down here.
  17. mine is about 200 yards south of were we are.
  18. your right chriss , wales it is , good flyer's
  19. for the longer races b denney,c gordon,d immpet, b sheppard, g+c cooper,m gilbert, padfields could go on all day, having not been in the sport long ones who've been catching my eye a lot on the extreme distance is those boys nichollson or something from rochester.
  20. she's cute foxes fan, good luck this year back in the championship except when you play us(swansea) of course.
  21. hi racer, sorry about what's happened to your young uns, i think a lot of these birds are so frightened they don't go into other peoples lofts, but keep flying until they calm down. the ones you get back keep in for a few days . if you would like a couple of late breds to top up i'm sure i could breed you a few.
  22. hi rob, sorry for the slow response, did'nt see your message. i hope she does well for you.
  23. we lost a couple of birds early on which was probaly down to me not getting them fit enough before hand, 100% returns last 3 races(2 channel) had a hen back today from 23rd may, so there's always hope.
  24. i bet the the boys who went friday, will be even more upset now.
