hi all, if a one loft race was to start up in the uk(south) with the goal being the tarbes international , how many would be interested in this? let's hear your views.
-
may be a new one loft race should be set up,just to concentrate on racing old birds with the tarbes international the main race. what do you think, stu ?
-
hi stu, that was on my mine while i was thinking about it, i am interested in that. although i'm not sure how they race as yb's out there , i think they race em as yb's against other lofts don't they? which is a better concept than what we do in this country . the loft in france is geared up for old bird racing from the off, where as the rpra one loft race is more geared towards yb's only, the racing of yearlings is a new idea to use up the birds that can't be sold
-
me personally i would like the extra competition as a fancier competing against these birds but i also think that liberating these birds with the national affects the result of the one loft race, i'll try and explain why i think this- as young birds these birds are flown, trained and raced on their own to one loft, so these birds are programmed to fly with batches all to one area the entire life, then you decide to liberate with birds from all over the country . now some of these birds will end up in batches going the wrong way and as a result will end up late or lost(even though they may have been in front of the eventual winner). the returns from the one loft race seem to back up this idea as out of 127 birds entered only 54 birds have made it home.

i'll do what i can to help also.

that's right what your saying but when was the last time you saw donkey's racing against race horses? it same in people lofts, i don't think anyone races woody's or doves. i think everyloft in the country has birds in them capable of winning or breeding winner's but there's so many other things to take into consideration, capabilities of the fancier, wind, pull of the birds, etc. it all comes down to the fancier. -
i think van lints are sprinter's, are you wanting to cross sprinter's with the ardens?
-
i've bought a couple of birds off these guys but not that strain, i had muelemans/de klak/van loons these are their main birds i think. on the hongerlouts strain i've not hear'ed of them.
-
i can honestly say i've never seen em mentioned winning anywere, the only place i've seen the name is on louellas advert, that's not to say they have'nt done well somewhere. i like the louella ardens but i would'nt cross them with brasspennings.
-
they've been about for years (brassardens)
-
hi redfox, first of all well done on your national win. the birdages are on the increase i think, the welsh boys success with the likes of the bicc is starting to turn peoples heads.
-
sorry ,i was'nt on about yb's, i was thinking of the yearlings.
-
you boys should join us on the south road, we're not crossing everyone and if you like the longer races there's more opportunity's on the south.
-
what happens when they come to the big race, if the one loft birds are way down in the section, they'll still get plenty of publicity making out they're super birds and they could be beaten by loads of birds locally(what value are these then when it comes to auction them) or if a local fancier beats the one loft winner by an hour or so, his bird gets no publicity while he's reading about the champs from the one loft race in the mags.
-
vanlink, i've never really thought about like that before, but i can see were your going. i don't think it's fair that a one loft race is taking prizes off normal fancier's(if that is the case).
-
or if it was a long distance race you would see where it's roosted up for the night . and that would enable people to cheat.
-
i agree but maybe not as strongly as roland(you must have felt better after getting that off your chest. lol)
-
that's the downside ally, there's no guarentees you bird with the gps will make it back then your well out of pocket. only for the rich i think.
-
you have to wait until the birds home then download the information it picks up from satelites as it's going along.

i agree with you chris, a good fancier will do well with anyones birds. and a bad fancier won't win no mater what birds he got. -
i've not seen anything about a camara that does that, the gps does the same thing so why would you need to see pictures of the ground, if you don't recon. any land marks how would you know which line the bird took, what if there's an head wind and the bird is hedge hopping you would'nt get to see anything worthwhile.
