  1. don't go sending her anywere else this year, you may not be so lucky as to get her reported again. i've only had 3 reported in about 4/5 years!.
  2. i managed to pick a nice wee hen up last winter out of a son of tuff nut x full sister to maxi(sire of dark charm) but you don't see them often, probaly even less after his results this year.
  3. happy birthday harry, another year wiser.
  4. hi chriss, i've won a few races with padfields, off the top of my head i can remember 2x2nd,3rd sect in nationals and scored upto 400 mls, but i have'nt been in pigeons for long and am nowere as good as the padfields myself, but in time i'm sure i'll get these birds to score in the extreme distance as the padfields are still doing today.
  5. hi chaz, drop me a pm with your phone number and i'll give you a call.
  6. hi chris, i'll put a pair or two on hold for him.w reeds, denny's and gordon's are gone.
  7. i have a number of unrung young birds that are free if anyone would like a couple, all from my stock, they'll be off direct- w reed, padfields,b sheppard,c gordon,b denney,m gilbert and a few other well known fancier's. perfect to breed off for the longer races . you'll have to arrange transport. send me a pm if your interested. to good just to kill without offering them first.
  8. no, i don't think so.
  9. i've been told this morning that the combine winner is down in carmarthen, if so that's an excellent pigeon on the night.
  10. good luck ant.
  11. i think so phil, went down wilde+wilcox's to watch they aint had anything and the phone was going none stop, no other birds heared of around swansea.
  12. derek leonard swansea 9-20, r stokes kenfig hill 9-00 . who's looking like the likely winner?
  13. i think instead of treating for more and more things, they should let nature take it's course. only the strong will survive and they won't need proping up with drugs all the time. pigeons that need drugs just to survive are not worth bothering with.
  14. i'll report them straight away, if they want to send for it they can, if they don't want to send/can't afford to send i'll take em up the road and release. done it with a yb a few days ago and she got back home ok. i think it's to much trouble for some people. and i've also heared of people killing them to cut down on the competition(if they're carring a gold ring/rhonfried) i could'nt believe i(i can believe it because of seen so many stunts pulled these days) but it's not something i could do.
  15. as it goes this hot weather be gone by tomoz, in fact it's been raining all evening here.
  16. i know what you mean, but if the race was in this weather would you send?
  17. i use to work shifts finishing half 1, i use to put them out when i come in from work, for as long as they want, give half their grub then take em about 6 ish. when they was just starting off if i took them training(always evenings) that would be the only time went out that day, i would'nt go training every day though.
  18. if i was taking them training i would'nt put them out before(not at 5pm), if all is well they'll go for a fly when they come back. i'd put them out in the morning if they was going training in the evening. another thing to remember also is, if they're having an hour before going training and a hawk scatter's them, they may not have enough fuel in the tank to get back(are you feeding them before going training?)
  19. i think it's restricted to 1,000 birds, last year they had 266 at the final race and 225 made it home.
  20. if you feel this strongly about things maybe you want to join greenpeace, they could do with more like you.
  21. i'll go for 1083
  22. if your lucky and they drop in somewhere tidy you may get em back, if've had 2 in this week, one guy phoned me this morning to say he had the bird back safe and sound last night. the other i'll drop near his loft this week.
  23. i think he just halfed it. lol another that stood out to me this year was, when we was kids on christmas day every kid on the street be outside christmas morning playing with they're new toys bike/skateboard/roller skates, last christmas i pointed out to my mate how there was no kids outside christmas morning(all in the house on computer/games consoles). at least when i went down my sister's her kids were outside on their bikes, but not for long they wanted to show us how to play the wii .
  24. brilliant thread, reminds me of the things we used to get up to and i'm only 38. what i also remember is if you got caught doing anything naughty and the cops came, they would give you a slap around the earole then take you home and your old man would give you one as well. one of my favourite games as a kid we use to call hedging, it was like a human version of the grand national. in those days most dividing boundaries between gardens were privet hedges(upto about 4/5ft high) there would be about 20 of us at the start of the street, it would normally end with one of the parents from one of the houses coming out and chasing us, which could make you run faster. ps i never had dripping sarnies though, but i do remember a time when we was fishing in the local pond(which doubled as an ice ring in winter) and caught rudd, cooked on a fire and eaten between 2 slices of bread(bait) with no butter.
