  1. I cannae totally make up my mind on it but do see a difference in most fed results when birds are marked centrally. This is usually as it gets further out as well mind you and there isn't as many birds coming into the feds at the same time. Of course most folk would say the birds are mixed as soon as they are in the air. Unsure
  2. Do yous feel the central marking, the birds from different areas being mixed through the baskets, contributes to the top end of the result being more spread? If so.why?
  3. Its the same as most suggestions there are pros and cons. The INFC use it and despite some poor racing this year over the course since its introduction I'd say its been a success. Over all I think its something that would be of benefit to the birds, but it relies totally on accurate weather reports and decisive people using them.
  4. A few at the time of the Newbury/Cheltenham race thought a bit more flexibility regarding basketting nights/weather for planned day of liberation was an issue. Should this perhaps be raised at the AGM?Two days leeway either side?
  5. Would it be in light of security or could it result in Wednesday basketting for the Gold Cup for a Friday race?
  6. Do you mean Eastbourne/Clermont in place of Newbury or the week before Gold Cup Stevie? How many weeks between yer gold cup, longest race and last channel race? Same to you Derek-when do you mean for the Eastbourne race to be?Are you going for status quo with the dates of the gold cup, longest race and last channel race but slipping the yearling Nat into the 2nd weekend of July? Have any other organisations used this breaking point and fatigue factor formula before? What breaking point do you suggest or would it be a series of points up the country? How is the fatigue factor calculated? Why would you prefer central marking? Would this perhaps have an impact on the birdage?
  7. With the 2012 SNFC programme behind us are there any changes you’d like to see going into 2013. Race programme-Number of races?Type of races? Race points? Sectioning? Lead to believe another proposal will be in at the AGM to have some of the current sections altered. Costs? Any changes to birdages? Subscriptions? Pools? Prize money? Anything else that could be improved or tweaked? Prizes? Awards? Rule a bit on the dated side? Transportation? Marking stations? Race control? Changes to how the members vote? Anything at all?
  8. You could use any suitable for pigeons.Linseed oil and peanut oil will do no harm in moderation. All depends what time of year it is and what yer doing with the doos This is turning into an episode of Ready,Steady,Cook
  9. Another good one is toasted soya beans grinded up to a powder.Moisten yer feed with some oil and sprinkle some on it. Anyway I have said too much
  10. To be honest Sapper its probably a waste of time, but for all the good it does it will certainly do no harm
  11. My neighbour keeps hens so I get her to keep the shells for me.She thinks I'm mental mind you Have used supermarket eggs in the past and the pigeons like them also
  12. I like giving the pigeons egg shells. Save them whenever I'm making french toast or anything egg based Give them a wash then put under the grill til they are brittle and dry.Crush them up then watch yer doos go at them
  13. He had some sense of humour. The Harry Ramsdens challenge story is another cracker No many like the old Tattie boy.RIP Tam
  14. Tattie was some man and will be sorely missed by all in the village. The stories of Tattie are told every year in the club and will be for many more to come.I can remember when he used to come a couple of days a week to my dad's loft in Blackbraes to do some loft chores by his way of it.Always knew when he'd been in as there was more water on the floor than there was in the drinkers Hes the only person I've met who could sweep a floor and leave it dustier than when he started Repeating myself and echoing what William says,he will be greatly missed and thoughts go out to Ann and the rest of the family at this time.
  15. No problem George. Hope you get a turn out of them
  16. I like the birds to be out on an open loft as much as possible.I enjoy seeing them out and about all day and think they like it as well provided they aren't getting too many unwelcome visitors,I take this as it comes. Think you lose far fewer to predators over the course of the year if your birds are out all winter than if they spend it locked up. Most nest boxes are closed now and the birds will be split around Christmas/New Year time.
  17. Remember seeing pictures of this cock during the time of his top perfomances. Is he down through Taverne & Rigole(not sure of spelling) lines if memory serves me well??
  18. Theres wood pigeons still rearing up a tree near where I walk the dogs. Noticed a week too late.I could've got a ring on it last week to join the latebred team
  19. Got some birds on the hunt for Silver Awards next season.Would like to have one to pick up at the end of the year. Would also like to give the SNFC longest race a try as well for the first time.Would be nice to score from all SNFC channel races in the same season.Going on the number that do it every year its a very hard thing to do
  20. Think you could spend as much as you wanted but good bloodlines doesn't mean good pigeons. All the top lofts I have visited seem to have a way of managing their birds that turn a lot of the good bloodlines into good pigeons. The fanciers with good bloodlines who turn them into bad pigeons far outnumber them though I think
  21. Used cider vinegar with regularity for the first time at the back end of last year early part of this one.Stopped using it after a few months. Don't think it had a very positive effect on the birds.
  22. Best of luck to him Certainly couldn't have asked for a better start to his SNFC campaign at the new location
  23. very true.Theres still room for improvement
  24. Think Stewart Roberts and Mel Bell will have been about the most dominant from this race.Would need to check but think this surpasses even their best YB national performances. Well Done
  25. Mentioned to a friend earlier in the year about Andrew Lees.He has came to the fore again this year, can't not be impressed when you see his strike rate.Eyemouth or no Eyemouth his Clermont performance last year is amongst the most impressive I have seen since starting to look at national results.
