I'm fairly sure doos will make it into Central Scotland tonight, fingers crossed one makes it to Avonbrig As for those further North I would not rule them out being well up the open result even though they won't time tonight.Lead to believe the birds will be rising to a strong south west wind tomorrow morning. If theres a North doo far enough up on the night with an early rise it should have a big helping hand in the morning??

Are they prisoners or do they fly out? If prisoners do they have an aviary? -

Yep I personally would like to see the race scrapped but its not the Lewis McCalley flying club

I can't quote this as 100% fact as I don't have exact figures but think you'll more than likely find the majority of Open winners in the Yb nationals and birds in the top 1% of the result in the last ten years have been further or near enough as far as the racepoint before going to the race.

They've hit rain every channel race this year, might as well make it the full set I'm sure the controllers will make the right move, best of luck to all competing

From the forecast I've seen don't see too much of a problem with tomorrow and would expect a nice steady 1100/1200 race. All depends on the forecast you look at mind you.I'd stopped checking to be honest as was struggling to get two that were showing the same thing

Can't seem to keep a hold of any form of reds or mealies since re starting in 2009. The two old red cocks I have at the moment are both injured. Don't think there is too much in it though and probably coincidence. One of the best birds in the SNFC's recent history was a mealy,Dennis Dall's Gold award winner which scored 7 times in the SNFC

I don’t think chopping and changing like we have been doing of late is doing the fanciers, the birds, the returns, the entries or the races image any favours. Three gold cup race points in as many seasons is a bit ridiculous and is partly taking away from the class once greatly associated with the race. I’d like to see a race point chosen be it Alencon, Reims , Messac or indeed any other and allowed to gather a bit of a momentum. The status surrounding Rennes,Pau and certainly Bourges is very difficult to emulate starting with fresh race points with little history behind them. After a few seasons at the same race point though I think a bit more interest could be generated and greater prestige would surround the race. I also don’t think we are giving ourselves the opportunity to see what the best and fairest lib sites are with the constant moving around. I don’t think it’s possible to decide if a race point is a good one based on one or two races. There will always be occasional disasters from certain lib sites dues to circumstances out with our control, but you’d think if you are going to a race point where a number of the convoy have been before (some on several occasions) the chances of better racing are greater?

I'd also like to see it proposed that whatever programme is decided is stuck to for a minimum of three seasons.Granted it may be a bit difficult to keep the longest race the same every year

I quite liked the Martin Mitchell method of training youngsters again though its very time consuming and perhaps not worthwhile in areas where young bird racing isnt top of the agenda. He as early as possible tried to work out his best youngsters "leaders" and the worst "followers" by letting them go in groups of four. the ones he felt were the best were constantly promoted up the groups until eventually the best 4 were let go together, the 2nd best 4,3rd best 4 etc etc. The best ones in theory would get better as they were only flying with the best and the out and out followers would be lost or removed if improvement wasn't shown. Its all theory I suppose at the end of the day and the leaders will probably still be leaders and followers still followers regardless of batch size.

Not only are these inland nationals having a crippling effect on the SNFC's channel races but they are also very damaging to local organisations. The best solution long term in my eyes is for more feds to amalgamate once over 150 miles down to the coast and for the SNFC to host only channel events. Unfortunately I can't see this happening as I don't have to look very far to see fanciers who stay in the same street as each other and race in different organisations. If these differences were put aside I can almost guarantee local inland racing would improve in quality and returns as would SNFC channel racing. The inland nationals are money in the bank though for the club and some fanciers but are they really for the greater good of Scottish pigeon racing on the whole?I personally can't convince myself. We're covering the same ground yet again it will quieten down a bit now though until the 15th of September....

I don't have a copy but had a couple featuring him on loan last year. From memory I think the one on widowhood hen racing was made by Ray Knight.Worth the watching if you can get hold of it He was asked why he chose to race hens only.He basically said he did not have time to race both sexes and had better hens at the time than he did cock birds so it made sense

gave them their last toss today, will leave them be now and decide whats going on Wednesday

last year the first two tosses our youngsters had were single ups.Still can't make up my mind if it was a good idea or not
