  1. welcome back John you've no missed too much aside from the Stevie Dal football age scandal
  2. Have you seen the Freddy Vanderheede video on racing hens and youngsters?? I liked the nest boxes he used for his hens.Quite a clever idea I thought
  3. These birds have flown well out to 500+ miles in Scotland which in the main is south road racing
  4. Skip 43 minutes into this video and you'll hear a bit about one of the greatest Busschaerts of all time "Barney" from the legend himself Billy Parkes of Killyleigh
  5. I've a good old article here by him called "Selection the Dutch way".Worth a read by anybody interested in building a team of good long distance birds He was a pig farmer was he not?
  6. Partly because of the performances put up by W.D's father from the race and the conversations I've had with him I feel Ypres is the race we in central Scotland have the best chance of winning. However I do feel if the West and the Central area of the SNFC want to win ANY national or indeed "dominate" we need to have a serious rethink on our federation race programmes.Majority rules though
  7. Got a good trainer yesterday with the doos for Clermont.Fingers crossed for the same again today I split ours two weeks ago and they are all the better for it.Thats the trouble wi doos hatched in January
  8. It was unintentional. They were allowed to pick their own mates and thats how it ended up will leave them together as long as they wish as the hen has raced well I've never had anything so closely bred so will be interested to see if and how it performs. Not heard of many great pigeons from this kinna mating but I'm sure one of Ronnie Williamson's winners was from a brother/sister mating.May have been Millenium Superstar or Double Top
  9. The birds are actually nestmates.Bred from a dark cock and a red chequer hen Will see how it turns out after its moulted
  10. I always thought she was a right fussy hen but apparently not
  11. It wouldnae be too easy to breed one of them again ?
  12. Its a full brother/sister mating,I was wondering if that perhaps had anything to do with the strange colour.I'm not clued up on close breeding and its outcomes as its something I've never done intentionally. They were allowed to pick their own mates so I just left them to it.Its the first youngster hatched from them so nothing really to compare it to Like you I'm fairly sure the hens not been tread by something else
  13. I have a barless blue in the nest at the minute from a red cock up with a chequer hen. Is this possible or has the hen been tread by a rogue cock ?
  14. I've thought about using pellets the last couple of years but never got round to it.Will have a look at them over the winter
  15. Was just wondering if it was a different pellet you'd been using this year but thats obviously not the reason
  16. what kinnae pellets are they ALF ? what kinnae percentage of the feed are they taking up? Have you used them in the past ?
  17. 5,6 or 7 depending on how the next few days go Lets hope we can end the SNFC old bird season with a good race
  18. I think he comes across as a likeable kinnae guy but his lifestyle is perhaps one of the reasons he couldn't stand toe to toe with the likes of Mayweather and Pacman??
  19. well done all Don't think this will be far away from the lowest winning velocity in the club's history
  20. Some effort on the doos part to get home with this injury. Got two back this morning from Ypres.Hadn't seen any since Sunday afternoon and got a couple within an an hour or two of each other
  21. It'd take a hell of a lot to wash this thing away.Had the gypsy up one Saturday taking away some rubbish,if he cannae get it on his motor it would have to be a natural disaster to move it
  22. Av an old sleeper I sit on outside the loft when its dry and throw them titbits. They've no had any titbits since March
  23. I like the Scheemacker mixed grit, found it to be the one the birds pick most of the contents.Noticed with others they tend to leave one thing or another. I give them it fresh in the loft everyday and throw it out in front of the loft when changing. No bets for guessing where they like it best in a clean tray in the loft or lying outside on the ground?
