    Boxing

He's "only" knocked out 15 from 20 fights. but i don't recognise a single fighter he has fought/Ko'd. Unbeaten disnae mean unbeatable, imo if the fight goes into 9 or more rounds Burns will retain his title either by stopping him, which i think the most likely outcome, or on points, this time an Honest!! points win. jmo.

    Fly Aways

Have thankfully never had this happen to me, for what its worth i was told many years ago by a good friend and very experienced fancier to always let my Yb's out at the same time of day as my old hens and i wouldn't lose them off the loft. It appears to be true as i can't remember the last time i lost a Yb off the loft, despite them having been attacked by the Sparrow Hawk at the lofts, and one killed as i wasn't around at the time of the attack, but the rest all returned later with the old hens. Strangely I have had old birds lost off the loft though!! but on those days they all returned in separate batches which made me think they had been attacked by Percy and those missing had been the unlucky ones who were caught. This happened just 2 years ago and i actually seen the batch split into 3 on one occasion but didn't see why, i only Assume it was an attack from some form of predator and given there is a Percy nest site less than a mile from my lofts i blame them. I will stick to letting my Yb's out with my old hens because i now believe it to be safer for them that way. jmo.
  3. Snowing steadily here in Coatbridge but not lying due to very wet roads.
  4. Am sure they'll be back Higgy
  5. I would guess early rather than late, despite dreadful conditions in some parts its been very reasonable around here so they may well have paired and hatched already. Seen 4 woooy's on the roof this morning when I had my hens out. Not sure if it was 2 pairs or 1 pair with Yb's.
  6. Seen an intetesting thing the other day in Coatbridge. 2 young streeters sitting on top of a shop's shutters and a hen sitting on a nest a few feet along from them. The Ck came and landed on the groind and both squeakers went to ground chasing him around to be fed. What was remarkable was the condition of the Yb's who were so clean and healthy they looked like they had been reared in a loft, makes me wonder why we fuss over our birds who get the best of grub in dry lofts built to the highest standards. I have 11 pairs with Yb's in the nest who are all doing well without the slightest change in the section/feeding/routine of the loft. I do have 3 nests with only 1 egg hatched but there could be any number of reasons for that. Jmo.
  7. There was a discrepancy with the SHU 2013 rings similar to what you describe above. Only suggestion I have is to ring the Yb's a couple of days earlier to ensure you aren't hurting them. I didn't find it a problem when they matured into fully grown size. Ps. When ringing early check them for a couple of days to make sure the ring hasn't slid off again.
  8. Canny believe ye fell for his moochin Watty, thought ye were wider than that lmao.
  9. Well you's certainly achieved your goal Malcolm, it was a terrific night. Next year can't come quickly enough.

    Combine

No Wullie it hasn't fallen by the wayside, other Feds have had their AGM's much later than ours, and with demands of work it hasn't been possible to arrange it yet. Though i hope it will happen in the next few weeks. There isn't a necessity to have talks early, the proposed races for joint convoying won't be until June, so still plenty of time to arrange them. There have been no discussions with anyone since the idea was mooted, so we all arrive at the meeting/discussions with our own thoughts on it, i also thought it best to put the idea out there for everyone to have their own Fed's discussing it and we can hopefully reach agreement with as few meetings/discussions as possible.
  11. I would like to thank the members and friends of Coalburn H.C. for inviting me along to their Presentation evening last night. Rarely have i been made to feel more welcome and treated so well anywhere. The night was a credit to them and the numbers present would have been the envy of many Federations let alone a single club. It would be remiss of me to single any individual out so my appreciation is aimed at all those present for making my night one to remember. This will now be one of my "Not To Be Missed" nights of the year and look forward to attending many future evenings amongst some of the nicest fanciers i have ever had the pleasure of meeting and mixing with. Thank you to one and ALL

    Overfly

Personally I think races are won in the loft, especially sprint races. When birds are motivated they don't hang about when the strings are cut, they get off their mark sharpish and imo by the time they have covered the first 20 mls or so they have the race won. In long distance races with velocities under 1200ypm the best doos win when racing into their respective area's, Iin National racing the wind and racepoint have a far greater influence on the Open result.
  16. Agree for every reason given, I have the box perches with trays in my Yb loft and as stated, if a bird has a problem they are easiy identified. My ones have the bottom tray about 18" off the floor.
  17. I was pretty fertile ma self at 17 !!! Lol
  18. I have a Wh Gr Ck and paired him to a Dk Cheq last year. All youngsters were Grizzles but NOT White. The Grizzle pattern dominates most Yb's bred from them but that is only my experience of breeding from them.
  19. 8 years old this year.

    Snfc

I'm working today so couldn't manage to go. So like anyone else that can't I will just have to go along with the decisions taken. Interested in who the new Secretary will be.
  21. It was a complete shock to hear of Jim's passing. I had known him for many years but got to know him and Margaret a lot better this past couple years when loaning him some hens to breed from and he would breed me 2 or 3 pairs back from them. A true Gentleman in every respect. I was speaking to him in the Winter Gardens on Saturday where he was looking to pick out something for his stock loft and now this sad news coming so quickly is such a shock to me. May he rest in peace and my sincere condolences to Margaret and his extended family at this very sad time. John Quinn.
  22. Always a fantastic night with top guests, and a venue befitting the club.
  23. RIP Bobby, another sad loss to the fancy, my condolences to his friends and family at this difficult time.
  24. I'll be there again this year, looking forward to meeting new members.
  25. One of my very favourite fanciers that i have ever met, so sad to hear he has passed away. Tormented me as a kid and kept it up right until the last time i met him at the late Andrew Deans' place. My most Sincere Condolences to all his family and friends.
