  1. It will be daylight robbery if you get these for any less than a monkey
  2. Thought i might as well throw ma tuppence worth in here seein as i support most of the big Shows and local shows every year First thing i would like to say is the feeling of winning a show class, doesn't resemble the feeling you get when you are 1st in a race, that of course is if you are a racing man. Whether a man enters show doos in a likeliest class is neither here nor there, it is what the judge fancies on the day that counts and no the doos entered against you and it would surprise you the number of TOP racing fanciers who can struggle to tell the difference between Show racers and REAL racers, thats a Fact. Secondly, if you are a racing man what difference does it make if you get a ticket or not, to my way of thinking it doesn't matter an iota what i'm beaten by, its a day out from the monotony of winter chores. BUT if your lucky enough to get the Red card in a show class, enjoy it because like racing there are always doos to beat you on any given Saturday. Lastly, if it means that much to you, go out and get some Show doos and try to compete on the same terms as those you are complaining about!!!! Its no life or DEATH
  3. You should leave 10" min between them,
  4. I might have last years GB ring list somewhere wee man, if i come across it tomorrow i'll pm you where its come from and the secretary's phone number if its there.
  5. As far back as i can remember Lanarkshire have used the same style of trailer to transport the birds, i went round in the wagon on Friday nights with my Da picking the doos up from the clubs. There were THOUSANDS more doos racing then than they are now, the difference now being returns from races are far worse than in the 70's. My point here is in those days every loft in the place had an abundance of old birds because it was harder to lose them, this however has nothing to do with transportation, its to do with what affects the doos AFTER they are released and NOTHING to do with how we transport them. jmo
  6. Aye its ma bid at 300 Billy though i will be very surprised if i get them for that. I handled the sire this year at Budgie's and its the best bird i have had in my hands for a long long time.
  7. I'm in Craigneuk Wishaw
  8. Gutted to hear this news, Bobby was a gentleman and fine dooman, God Rest Him.
  9. £300 for the pair.
  10. Exactly my thought
  11. There is a bit of truth in that but its ONLY a show so the fun of it and the crack with other guys is what i look for at them. I know the showmen are serious about it and power to them but for racing men its a chance to relax and have some fun. jmo
  12. Likeliest classes historically get a better entry than flown classes so it makes sense to have the classes this way.
  13. Good night to have them a Wednesday, if work permits i'll be at them all. If not i will still make most of them.
  14. You could block off 7" of each box and work with single widowhood fronts, i kinda work this way myself.
  15. Only in it for the fun but i never do things by half, got a couple of darkies that will bring tears to a glass eye
  16. A might have one or 2 handy looking latebreds ma self this year
  17. Like many of the other members i feed them in the morning now, only letting them out at weekends while the moult is heavy is about as much as i do to allow the moult to go smoothly. works for me!
  18. I have no knowledge of show racers but i enter my race birds in the shows with a few red cards for my efforts, generally they are very near race weight as i don't fatten my birds at any time of the year. My advice therefore is to enter the ones you like in the hand and leave the rest at home. jmo

    Prisoners

I've only got 3 prisoners, 2 ck's and a hen i let out today for a bath and pick about the garden, she never took off which was ideal as the more she picks about the garden the better chance she will stay when she does strike up. The 2 Ck's have never flown out from any of their previous lofts so they will stay locked in until i breed from them next season, then they can suit themselves whether they stay or not. Always found good doos are easier broken and the one's that don't stay never leave anything worthwhile behind them. jmo
  20. Ripping out the nest boxes i have and replacing them with half size widowhood boxes, on the outside i am thinking of doing away with my landing board and working with doors instead.
  21. This year i ordered 60 rings, for next year i have ordered 50. It has beem my intention to reduce numbers for 3 seasons now but still have the same amount to winter this year. I will be breeding later next season as i will not have any on the darkness, hopefully this will enable me to finally get to more manageable numbers!!
  22. Cheers mate, they might turn up in the morning but if not i'll carry on with what is left for next year
  23. 0/2 for me too. Disappointed? Yip! Surprised? No!
  24. Aye, heeds always up. I go to this race in Hope rather than Expectation so i'm no in the least bit surprised at no timing in AGAIN!
