When basketing for a race and you are looking for a pooler, take the one with the warmest feet and you'll no be far wrong, i don't entirely understand the physiological mechanisms that cause this but when a doos feet are hot the bird is in very good condition. I think along human lines, if your feet are cold your liable to be fed up, if you are nice and warm, your ready for anything. jmo
  3. Just like the Janssen birds. They never had a Red in their loft but there are plenty on sale!!
  4. I use clay bowls and tobacco stocks, i put a cardboard box inside my nest boxes and change it between nests. I know some people on deep littter simply put an inch of litter on the nest box floors with no bowl used. Doesn't seem to have any adverse affects but my worry with it is splayed legs so i use the bowls.
  5. It can only go down hill for him, he is the Middlesbrough equivalent to McCoist/Larsson in Glasgow. Don't think it will do the club much good either, mind you expectations are not as high down there as up here so who knows he might make a decent job of it. Though i doubt it.

Google innvista.com They have a good section on the nutritional value of Hemp. If its Proof you want that hemp heats the doos up, feed some to them for a day or two and feel how hot their feet are.
  7. I like the 2 Janssen/Arendonk ck's, but they are all nice looking doos.
  8. Just had word today i'll get the 6th off so i'm looking forward to catching up with everyone again.
  9. I let my lot out on my days off for a bath and a pick about the garden. I daren't leave the loft though cos as sure as fate the s/hawk is into them as soon as i am. It hits them when i'm there too, but at least i can do something about it then, if you get ma drift. I was watching the Peregrine above the lofts about 10 days ago but i've no seen it strike them, YET!!
  10. Cheers, pretty good wee loft. Could be a stock loft too.
  11. I notice Delboy never revealed his secrets anyway
  12. Surprise you the men that do struggle with it....I'm no finding it That hard
  13. oops
  14. A show doo crossed with a racer, sometimes the Yb is crossed back to another racer, making it awkward for some people to spot that it is not a Full Racing pigeon.
  15. Cheers, was there no another partner? i'm sure the guys i was thinking of were 3 strong that year.
  16. In nearly all cases, the guy who wins the Fed Averages has generally been at the top of the results sheet every week, from start to finish, maybe have a bad race in there somewhere but the consistency in the loft ensures he will be nearer the top than the bottom of the results on a regular basis, the exception is when you have a smash of a race and only a handful in race time, eliminating the majority of the members. This is how it goes every year in Lanarkshire because if your gonna win our Averages your doos will need to be way Beyond Average to achieve it!! My Da nearly done it in 1995, he won 9/12 old bird races in the club and took an avalanche of Fed tickets. We had 1 bad race, Cheltenham, 3rd club in a sticky race, when we were 40 mins behind the Fed topper. Jim Cameron of Uddingston won them that year i'm sure, on a decimal from a 3 man partnership from Cambuslang club in second, canny mind their names (Corr, Coyle & Graham???) with my Da 3rd 1.3 Yd's behind them. I'm sure most average winners across the Feds are performing like this too, that is why i think the man who wins the Averages is the best fancier in his respective Fed.
  17. Got one or two handy Y/h's ma self
  18. Hi Owen, tried to google that for a wee look but not getting anywhere, what was your search title? Cheers
  19. Y/h or O/h?
  20. The guy that wins the Fed Averages is the best fancier in the Federation or Club. No matter how many 1st's you get its the guy who enters and times in from every race that gets my vote every time.
  21. About 1982/3 my Da got some Blacks up from Rotherham area, i have a photo of one that won the Hastings Race in the club. (no channel racing that year) Disnae matter what they are though, black or white they need Luck these days more than ever. imo
  22. It tells you Pedigrees in the sale info so it must be pedigrees.
  23. Think he is a bit of a Legend down there........ bet it goes to notorious, sharpish too!!
  24. Think the companies who sell the Pmv sell them. You'd get their product ad's on their website i reckon.
  25. Well done Ritchie and your Dad. It is often the case when a fancier starts up he gets off to a flyer in their fist season, but your sustained performances show you's to be good fanciers and will surely improve in the coming years with your enthusiasm for the game.
