Was not and still not sure about gold cup racepoint Liege but when you look at the race it was very spread out with mostly sect winners being great performances but also sect A mr gilmour so close to winning 2 years on trot

Sect B Sinclair Thomson 5th open great doo in that wind

Sect C J Mullen 20 th open

Sect D Davy Jamieson 11 th open never far from top

Sect E D Donaldson 7th open can't be many better over the years

Sect F S Jones&son 30th open

Sect G J&A Donaldson 25th open in my opinion the best distance loft in Scotland

Sect H Cowan&Findley 12th open top lofts again

These are just some but there are lots more very good single entry performances.

My issue is the actual location of Liege sitting so far down .

But must give credit to the convoyers as birds were in good condition ( well here anyway) when arriving .

Just my thought .

Well done all

What do you mean sitting so far down?? I think the result speaks volumes and finally a gold cup where it wasn't a disaster just what the SNFC needed.

Good post frank and yes a tough tough race but a good representation of the SNFC membership with fantastic birds timed in all areas and a big well done to all that got a bird on the result of the most special race in Scottish pigeondoms calender the gold cup. :partick-thistle-Crest: :partick-thistle-Crest:

Surely a wee mention for the section a winner colin

Wullie Borthwick as he,s just won the gold cup

We,ll put it down to old age lol

Well Said.

It was the last time it was raced from also.

Jim O'Hara wanted it included the following year, but was out voted by the South Section who brought a bus load up to vote against it!

Pity it took so long for everyone to realise this.

well said frank the winning birds were well spread across the country and the returns would have been even better but for the horrendous heat and credit where its due the returning birds were in great condition so well done to all the snfc officials that were involved and to mary for getting the result out so quick

Yes it was a good race which is point of the topic ,

The birds got a lot help fron the east in the wind but look at the map if they get a strong west then they are in open ocean .

Plus I,m old fashioned and prefer French race points , bad racing is nothing to do with the race points but the ever changing weather and bop .

John Meechan was 2nd open and I think JH Dal was 5th or 6th.. ...then it took a day and a half to get the section filled. Better this time around. I suppose folks ideas of a great race are diffo. This year it took a day and a half to get 19/166? In the South where its EASY lol.Maybe this is why a bus was booked lol?

No problems my Friend there's no malice in any of your comments

True what you say very good birds clocked and yes the east wind did help them at the home end and their crossing

a strong sw would have been catastrophic

Numbers wise is it now acceptable that 100 plus made the result over 2 days from 1000 plus

I am sure the others were very good birds also

No matter where we come from nowadays be it scottish english irish or welsh the returns are horrendous

At this time of year when the young falcons are being trained our birds will be targeted the whole route regardless of direction

Are there none in Europe ?

Just look at yb losses already from 10 to 20 miles

We will just have to accept the high losses as it aint going to change

Well done on your good one again and all the best for the season

i think the heat was the main factor steven plus the friday lib little or no birds in the sky on a friday so the only target for bob is us

It wasn’t bop expletive remove behave walter

The first race had 7 section winners in the top 10 open and then the Solway wanted it changed, that was a complete disgrace imo.

its been a great race i dont know what you want ??? just a moan ?? are you saying the winning bird dogged legged into its area ??? your the same guy thats wanting tae make it easier yet what you should be saying is fairer for all of scotland. can assure you my birds will never race the west route or from france again. best races the SNFC are getting are from belgium imo

I gave you the figures you can work it out if it was a great race for us. Ye I still think easier is the way to go to get the entries up. The birds in Ecclefechan came due south, not from the east so ye I think they probably came across to the west coast pretty far down. That obviously is hard to prove just my theory.

Am no sure I've got much to moan about Tommy.

Didn't mean to start an argument with my reply. Only stating, or trying to, that nearly 20yrs ago a man wanted to include ''ONE'' race, that he, in his opinion, as an official at the time, was going to give a fair chance for most of the competing members throughout Scotland, and it got shot down. Now 20yrs on the man has been proved correct!

Get him on here and ask him?

I can remember a lot of posts on here objecting to Ypres being included to the programme at the time.

Now, it's one of the most popular.

It was one of the best Gold cup races ever for fairness and I was on the SNFC committee at the time and voted for it as well. Another important part of the success and spread of winning birds was the fact we had central marking.
