Advice Please. Anyone Got An Idea

Hi guys,

 

It all started last Thursday when the droppings started to get very wet. Since then I have lost 4 youngs ones in the nest. The old birds are showing no signs of illness apart from the droppings. I treated for salmonella Thursday then, clean water til today now treating with trimax 4 in 1. Canker, cocci, worms and parasites. Droppings are still clear water, some are green others are whitish water.

They are fed twice a day on verse laga breeding mix atm.

Any ideas or advice will be welcome?

I would doubt you could treat for Salmonella in one day

Most treatments are courses ranging from 7 days onward depending on severity

I was told with the stuff I used to use it for 2 days then again in 3 weeks for another 2 days. I had the stuff off a veteran fancier.

Okay I'm going to keep on trimax for 7 days followed up by multivitamin. And see how they go if not I'll give megacox a go.

If your youngbirds are ill and your putting god knows what into them you might as well bin the ybs now if there that young.

Please keep us informed of developments -- how many young seem to be affected -- if all how many in loft ?

Maybe i am old fashioned but carnt point you in direction of medication but would advise clean and flash flame loft ,partings.

Only watery dropping they are showing, no other signs of any. Only got 15 young birds. And 12 pair of old birds in the loft.

Getting a culture test done is probably your best bet

Reading your post would suggest to me that nestlings have a severe "E,Colli infection obtained from the parents, To treat I would put 20 Mls Vinegar per Litre of Water in drinkers and Lemon or Lime Juice on the feed for a couple of days. Acidify the gut should clear the problem.

I treated for ecolli on January 15th.it was trimax 4 in 1 for 5 days. Is it possible they could still have the infection?

Trimax 4 in 1 Contains: Ronidazole, Amprolium, Moxidectin. it therefore isn't for e-coli which is a bacterial infection.

 

You need to get your birds tested

I just realised it does not cover ecolli. I thought it did. What's the best thing for ecolli?

I am no expert but could it be a case of salt poisoning by which i mean the parents have gorged on grit minerals and clay blocks

Could be mate there's grit available to them. It smelt very fishy in the loft today aswell

Funny smell from the droppings would suggest a yeast infection....but I cannot tell you for certain, get a culture test done

sounds like streptococcal infection I would get culture done and if it is treat with doxycycline 10% or 12% strength.

Do yourself a favour And get the dropings tested you could treat

them from now to christmas And still not get the right medication.
