Well I was contacted this year to use Easthouses club as the marking station for section B after arranging the club booking the hall that seated 240 people arranging lighting and a hall to be made available even in the event of hold overs for clock checking cleaners access to kitchen a car park that holds 60 cars and the transporter 15 helpers the place set up ready to go tables could be set up 10pm night before panniers sprayed and shavings put in and set up 3x clock setters all been used and still being used by the SNFC tat was for 7 races and 7 clock checking with open bar for a grand total of £700 for the 7 races then they cancelled it and decided to use a scout hall a farm and a bowling club and when the clocks are being checked you never know where you'll be also if the marking time brought forward because of other bookings. Now I understand why the SNFC cancelled the bookings as they must've felt aggrieved by the fact the last time they used the club the nearly blew it up by putting the pies in the oven thinking it was electric and not lighting the gas. Not replacing the 4 panniers belonging to Easthouses social flying club they borrowed or the Dials sealing pliers ringer or shavings so as you can see they've been hard done by.

It will be interesting to see how much these other places used cost this year and a breakdown on other marking station costs

Newmains is OK for me but not for everyone when you consider the average age of members are pensioners and have to carry in from across the main road is money that tight for the SNFC thay make enough of the sales to care for there members at marking nights wee as members are the only ones that can sort it

This is what I can't understand the problems finding a adequate venue through the west in the East and they get offered one with of road parking marking less than 50 ft from transporter Toilets bar kitchen and in the phonecall I last had with the SNFC secretary Mary Pryde Me and Jim have been to see the venue and found it perfectly adequate but circumstances out with our control we will need to cancel the venue

Breakdown of costs to the SHU Covering all 7 national flying club races and clock checking

Hire of halls £150 for 7 races

Cleaners x2 £240 for 7 races

Hire of lighting £167 for 7 race

Barstewards wages £120 for opening club and bar out with opening hours

Total £661 leaving £39 forDisinfectant for panniers

The barsteward had agreed on a 10 hour maximum charge at £12 per hour but it would've been nearer 20 house

This is in no way a dig at Mary Pryde I had many a civil phone call with her and found her pleasant but what are the circumstances out with the control

I'm sick of people stopping me and asking why the SNFC cancelled Easthouses miners club as if they were ripping them off but for a once a year event it's a top venue

I have asked admin to move my comments to a new column headed SNFC marking stations I don't want to spoil the Shu show one

What they need is decent premises that suit.

1. Dry for members

2. Adequate parking.

3. Marking stations that cater for all timing systems so you don't have to wait in separate queue for each particular system.

4. Security area that members not marking can't go behind.

Aye your right frank and surely it can't be that hard to find a place that suits they needs.

only real diffrence is double rung, unreleased ets clocks takes seconds but if you put a charge on it they wouldnt be long in getting them cleared beforehand, half the problem is inadquatly trained helpers on ets, which only the snfc can sort by trainning them on all systems
