My loft is a bit smelly in the morning at the moment wae breeding and the weather. We n the summer months I have mesh doors on as much as possible. I hate too many birds but the rules on overcrowding are mostly down to individual interpretation. Pretty sure most would think my yb loft to be too small. I have 55 on 13x6 with a 6x6 aviary

Some would say 38 for the area you describe, assuming a 6 foot headroom, but YB's during summer probably crowd out in the aviary. I think the most important is whether they are happy enough and are keeping good health. :)

I have far too many pigeons. This is a consequence of my reluctance to feed peregrine falcons in August. Over the past 2 years I have only sent a few youngsters past the 100 mile mark.

I certainly have plenty of time on my hands to race a bigger team but the big question lies in the quality of air in the loft as numbers increase.

Robert, I will help out with your air quality any time. Just send the excess YB's to me. :D :D :D

Some of the lofts I've walked in have nearly made me pass out with the smell...then they blame the race controller or transporter lol

I would love to help you Andy but I'll just bred fewer and save myself a fortune.

My federation had 87 youngsters at the final last year. 20 were mine and 67 belonged to other federation members. I had about 50 at home.

I ordered 100 rings and the remainder of the federation ordered 11,000. Something just has to be very wrong somewhere.

Their are times I read posts and say to myself "what the .*expletive removed*". Surely if you step into your loft and think its overcrowded then it is..the opposite applies if you think its empty then it is. Most fanciers have a pair of eyes BUT then again their are some who see but cannot believe, and some believe but cannot see. If your lot smells then try cleaning it out as it works wonders for getting rid of stink. Clean every day and you can forget about ventilation. Bloom on the walls is form so no bloom no form. :emoticon-0126-nerd: :emoticon-0126-nerd:
