Anyone breeding early this year ? I used to but no more , I've decided to try new birds this year !! Having said that I would have to be carefull letting them out as I have three neibours who are feeding street pigeons ! Don't want them mixing with them !!

depends what you class as early ? we will pair up after Blackpool , which is early enough in my book :animatedpigeons:

same for me andy blackpool weekend, wean ybs march.

I have no issues wae breeding early. In fact I really like getting the ybs in one round and well on the wing before racing starts with the old birds

What about the old birds for the later races though?

Racers rear the first eggs from the stock and then are split to race roundabout/jealousy so no nesting cycles lets them hold the wing better.

Beginning of March for me. More daylight hours in the morning and same when I return home at night. Youngsters weaned end of April, therefore less chance of sparrowhawk attacks while the youngsters are very vulnerable.

i have 36 pair of whidowhood and 12 pair of stock paired up, Currently just started laying.

get them Parted gives me plenty of time to play with the widowhood cocks and no rush in getting them flying before 1st race. found this worked brilliant, having 8 1st with the old birds alone. Up to le-mans.

Best of luck with 2015 all
