It is the same year in year out ,weeks of fireworks being let off terrorise dogs then it comes round tonight more than likely some poor bairn will get badly burned ,what sensible goverment would allow the sale of explosives to the young ,oh ofcourse Westminster they advocate selling explosives all over the world .

Fireworks are illegal here in N.Ireland unless you apply for a licence and have to say that apart from a few displays on Halloween night it has been really quiet where as in previous years we had them weeks leading up and weeks after the events so no complaints here

not been many go off around here thankfully maybe because most people are too skint lol , but I'm not a fan of them been publically sold much better to have displays and safer for all

Dear oh dear !! Was I the only youngster that loved bonfires and squibs when I was young and still enjoy them to-day.

Organised displays are not the same as getting the bonfire wood for days before,raiding others bonfires pile,and guarding it so they could'nt pinch it back. Lighting the bangers with a match and when the squibs were finished putting tatties in the fire to roast and burning your fingers peeling the skin from them, The smell and taste that is etched in your memory even now. Now its all political correctness and health and safety !!. Kids to-day dont know what living is and some parents just want to wrap them up in cotton wool. To them I say GET A LIFE.

I have know kids over the years who have suffered injuries from fire works,from even the simplest sparklers they are dangerous.I remember back in the 80,s anyone could buy an air riffle out of any shoping catalog not anymore why because for the very same reason they are dangerous.i agree that children today miss out on so much that we enjoyed but that's progress in many ways,I loved spud guns making bow and arrows and crossbows but again on reflection they are dangerous

I always have a small garden display for the kids and grandkids, but it is under my control, so it is safe as can be for them. We also used to go to organised displays.

Vinny, I think the reason for this is that whilst we were children for longer than the kids of today, when we watched TV, etc, it was under the often watchful eye of our parents, not alone in our own room. the programmes we watched were not just as far fetched as the ones nowadays and when we were watching the far fetched ones, our parents ever reminded us that they were 'made up'.

We would never have dreamt of doing some of the things todays kids do, we had too much common sense.

Have to disagree Vince, None of what you mentioned is dangerous. People whose actions are unpredictable can make anything dangerous and accidents can happen through the best of intentions. More people will be injured to-night by a motor vehicle than a firework but we wont ban them.

Guns are not dangerous that's a first,fireworks in the hands of a child are extremely dangerous,

the council waste money on bangers, yet would hardly put a light on the street, and at Christmas time where is there display, simple there aint,, as they say it is int every ones Christmas now
