Id belive so as its a stimulant which I belive would do more harm to a pigeon Id want my birds resting sleeping if possible in the basket not been wide awake for 12 hrs or more only to be tired when its release time

One of the reasons basket training is so important of course learning how to drink but what i feel is more important that birds know what its like to be in a basket over night and know how to rest in them i belive a lot don't learn this propely as babies and it comes as a massive shock to them when there put into a basket

Simple questions....simple to answer ?

has the SNFC or any similar organisation actually produced a list of banned substances? if not couldn't see the case standing too long in a court room :emoticon-0138-thinking: imo...

if so maybe someone can post it up along with the answers to JOHNSEE questions??

Posted

i'm sure its sent out with the entry forms ect,

you don't need banned substances to get disqualified these days... ;):emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle:

Its not possible to say a product is banned simply by the product name,it is in the ingredients that make up the product, some of them may be on the banned substance list.

I know that but the fact that said stop using 7 days before racing is a big clue

Posted

i actually seen the 3 page banned list when i was over in ireland last week and caffine is on it lots of things like asprin co codamol im sure the caffeince can be traced for longer than 7 days

so not worth the risk using the cafevit tonic

its some of the fanciers that need tested for drugs not the doos

Posted

As jam said fk sending your doo to a race full off caffeine or with any substance..

i always thought it was good to send your birds calm not like a jittering junkie bouncing aff the basket

drug testing birds at fed leval can,t see that happning .just for a O/B Y/B season would be around £2000.thats just the winner each week.if the prizes are big enough you will always find some fool trying to win them the cheats way. it could be horses dogs pigeons or us.would like to see a wide range of drug testing done in pige3on racing.say over a year in the uk.then look at the stats to see if their is a need to have drug testing put in force.

ps i would always welcome anyone who wanted to test my birds.as their is always plenty of droppings to go please bring big bags. :D

Was having a quick look at the I.H.U list this morning, and there's 198 substances on it.

South African National Pigeon Organization...(SANPO)

banned substance list as at Sept.2004 I count 386 banned substances, they also list the products that contain these substances, this list was to be updated periodicaly....massive,problems lie ahead if testing is to become the norm,

Before adopting a testing policy I feel that it would have be printed and presented to firm of solicitors who in turn would seek the advice of a law firm and let them advise on the likly outcome in a court of law should any members bird tested positive for a banned substance.

Your right Frank, thats the message that I have tried to get over since this topic started, too many times have I seen various rules passed at club level that were unworkable and just fell by the wayside after a short period of time. One thing that I did notice when reading through the SANPO documents were birds competing from a"One Loft Race"being treated can be given banned substances as it would be deemed fair because all were treated and would therefore be on equal terms....interesting,why dont we just open it right up and let members give their birds anything that they want ? Before I get lambasted for even mentioning such a thing,I dont for a minute believe it would make a difference as to who are winning at present and who are the also rans.....JBC/..
