decided a while back to pair up today .would be best if stock were on deep litter , so this afternoon I set about changing the door ,put another spar in to take the bedding .next cut down the original door (which I never liked) ended up making another instead, putting in a sliding door .so much happier with it now . birds must have thought "whats going on here" ? eventually put hens in as dark was falling , hope I got them right ? :emoticon-0138-thinking:

If you don't mind me asking Andy, what are you using for your deep litter ?

had easi-bed down the last 2 years, yes, you do get 1 or 2 nesting on the floor but what i do find is once the youngsters start to move about, the other pairs out of the nest box don't bother them so any falling from the nest box don't get scalped.

all the best with the breeding lads.

No they were all together so some had actually picked their mates ,but they will sort themselves no doubt ,nature makes a better job of things than our intervention ,imo.

gave most freedom for the afternoon , even the new pairings are getting on well .all boxed up tonight ,together ,with the exception of 1 pair the latebred hen who has only ever shown interest in me :emoticon-0136-giggle:

hopefully they will be a bit sweeter on each other in the morning :emoticon-0138-thinking:
